rara interpretazione di musiche che sono portatirci di un mondo colto ma difficile di accesso, per chi non ne sia stto paertecoipe per tradizione. Ora, forse svuotata dal suo significato magico, evocativo, propiziatorio, non so no studiosa di antropologia e magari scrivco cose inesatte, diventa musica, soltanto musica, e però, in qianto tale, il suo ritmo ossessivo e struggente, ci dice oltre, forse di meno, ma ci tocca nel profondo, quello istintiuale ma anche qurllo culturale, come quella che si definisce come - musica colta - Fausta Squatriti

You were stung by the spider In the gap between your breasts Pick roses and bring them to your bosom Open the door my dear Cos i'm bringing you stuff I bring a basket of cherries In the other hand i bring three things: a ring, a chain and a pomegranate I have to bring them to Miss Caterina Who will get married next month She is getting married and me too (Two lines which i cannot understand) You were stung by a spider In the gap between your breasts Pick roses and bring them to your bosom As you can see, the entire Pizzica genre revolves around the metaphor of the spider (zamara or taranta), representing madness, pain, sadness and frustration, which has to be crushed under the steps of this very intense dance in order for the woman to recover. Lyrics always have a very vivid symbolic language. Love and female beauty are often depicted with references to food and flowers. Some lines, like "idda sta se marita e ieu me nzuru", meaning "she is getting married and me too" can be found in many Pizzica songs, because this used to be a popular music often played in improvisation with no written lyrics.
