Lmao, that Inquisitor, had his face send to the other end of the ship and his body blasted into the different corners of the room lol. A possession in 40k isn't something you let happen for more than 5 seconds, they gave him a mercy kill, with the 40k spirit of complete overkill, absolutley amazing.

When the Sgt vomits, that's blood and it instantly coagulates because that's how Astartes blood is designed.

Notice at the end, when the "main" astartes is standing on the alien planet, there are brief flashes on top of the other pillars in the distance, where his squadmates are being teleported there too.

So there were 2 orbs in this cinematic, one was held captive by the Inquisitor and white veteran space marines, the other the objective of the tac squad. After tapping into the second orb this allowed the inquisitor to eavesdrop on the conversation between both orbs (notice the second orb glowing in the background in space as it communicates with the imprisoned orb). You can hear one of the orbs speaking about failure and succumbing to the astartes and telling the other to break free and break "them". Hence the attempted possession of the inquisitor and the attack on the space marines, the veterans realise this and try to communicate with the tactical squad on the rogue ship but it's too late. The tac squad get sucked in and teleported.

The part where the psyker looks at the veteran you can hear the psyker's muffle voice saying "recall them immediately" .

The most astartes thing I have ever seen was their dealing with that possessed.

The thing that cracks under the marine's foot when they enter the room is ice, psychic powers cause the air to chill and things to start freezing over around the psyker.

When the squad are suspended in that “warp” realm by those tendrils, something seems to blast/shoot the thing holding them. Freeing them from its grasp. Then our boy wakes up on that metal af planet of corpse kings.

I really appreciate how restrained this whole miniseries is. It's just a kill squad of a handful of marines. Small vessels, in a limited scale. The equipment is pretty standard and small, and the combat is all on a ship. It's showing a magnifying glass on a very small incident, meaning the details can be showcased. It's the basics, in the best light.

The aftercredits scene, that was shuriken weaponry I think. Eldar confirmed... maybe.

The golden statue that the Astartes found looks a hell of a lot like a c'tan body, and the sphere thing looks like it is made of the necrontyr living metal, these heretics may have found some ancient necron tech that the inquisition want

From Primarch Cat: Ok, here's a breakdown of what went down for the uninitiated. The Astartes (Also known as Space Marines) were sent in to deal with a planetary rebellion. However, the leaders or instigators of the rebellion escaped the planet, and were most likely on board the ship. They were likely aware that the mysterious orb was aboard since they already had one captured aboard their flagship, so they were sent in to kill the entire ship and capture/contain the orb for further study. The guy in the red robes is an Inquisitor, whose job is to investigate anything that may threaten mankind and uncover hidden/unknown threats. These orbs were in some part responsible for the rebellion and therefore very dangerous. Now, this Inquisitor was also a Psyker, which is essentially a sorcerer who draws their power from an alternate dimension known as the Warp. Basically, he was using his cosmic mind powers to observe the spheres with a form of magic vision that would reveal their 'true form' so to speak. The golden body/statue they passed by looks like it was being built. It was possible it was meant to act as a host for the orb's intelligence when it was finished. There are some people speculating it could be an ancient, hyperadvanced AI, or at least the body of one, but personally that seems rather unlikely to me. The Astartes, after fighting their way through the second orbs numerous attempts to attack/control them with its own powers, planted a bunch of devices on it that looked as if they were meant to contain the orbs powers. Back on the flagship, the Inquisitor listens in on the orbs communicating to one another. They refer to each other as brothers and said they have failed, and that the Astartes defy their touch. It is possible they were trying to mind control the Astartes, but the Astartes have a mental resilience comparable to their physical capabilities, and are essentially immune to mind control attempts. However, the Inquisitor overhears one of the orbs urging its brother to break free, while the imprisoned one says to 'Take the Astartes'. The Inquisitor warns the Space Marine in charge of the mission, the guy with the white helmet and cape, that his men are in danger and need to leave immediately. The leader (who looks to be a Captain based on his insignia) sends off one of his men to go warn the others. At this point, the imprisoned orb breaks free and apparently tries to possess the Inquisitor, perhaps by leaping its mind from the orb and into his body. This is what triggers the rush of visions and what causes him to burst into light. Now, possession is a well-documented phenomena in this universe, and the standard policy is to kill possessed beings on sight since they can do unspeakable damages, such as literally ripping the fabric of reality apart and opening a portal straight to the dimension they get their powers from, the Warp, which is full of demonic entities that would love for nothing more then to kill everything they can get their hands on. Thus, the Space Marines just murder him on the spot since at this point, he's already dead and quickly at risk of becoming host to something even worse. Back on the rebel ship, the Astartes squad gets word of this, but the orb triggers before they can do anything, and starts sucking them in to what looks to be the Warp (the crazy red/black space where we see the squad trapped by tentacles) before the entity that has caught them is struck by some form of black cloud, which could be the backlash of its brother being 'killed' when it was in the middle of possessing the Inquisitor. This causes the entity to release the squad, and they get thrown from the Warp and arrive on an alien world. This world may or may not be the same world they were in orbit of, but it could be anywhere in the galaxy. The giant skeletal statues surrounding them could be the remains of the same alien civilisation responsible for creating the orbs, or something else entirely. There is some speculation that they belong to a race of aliens known as the Necrons, who once ruled the galaxy some 65 million years ago, and have a lot of death iconography. It is possible the orb was something made with their technology. Another theory is that the orbs are made by another ancient alien race known as the C'tan, who are cosmic 'star gods' that granted the Necrons much of their power. Other theories include the orbs being a cage built to house a demon, and the entity that we see in the Warp is what the real form of the being we hear speak. There is also some people saying it could be one of the more unknown alien races of the setting, like the Umbra, who appear as spheres of black shadows, or the Yu'Vath, beings who were noted for having formless shapes made out of unusual bone like materials. Or it could just be something the creator of the series made up based on elements of pre-existing lore. There isn't a definite answer yet, just a lot of speculation. The universe is very big and there are a lot possibilities for what it could be. The final clip of the various different Astartes of different colours could be the next focus of the series. The creator has already said he knows what he's going to do next, and its going to be even better (!) then this series. The very final clip is a Space Marine fighting what may be an alien race called the Eldar, as the shots fired at him seems consistent with the sort of weaponry the Eldar use. He is supported by a Predator Battle tank in what looks like an urban setting, based on the burning building seen behind them. 0:23 Captain and Sargent observe boarding action from their ship , them move to oversee Orb1's chamber psyker is ready to interface with orb 1 as part of operation orb1 is locked down with huge psykick inhibitors the Retributors have dealt with this before, possibly a few times as they have a plan and protocols in place this scene also indicates the action we are seeing is parallel in time to the rest of the action, not linear 1:47 the squad moves into chamber2, passes a talos golem being that was being constructed (by the renegade psykers killed last episode) on the left and right we see psykick amplification batteries (the skulls with spines floating) this indicates this construction was taking huge amounts of psykick power this means if that body were to be finished and inhabited, it would have been insanely powerful and tough, they intended to give the body to orb2 2:27 the astartes resist psykick attack from orb2 multiple times, they have most certainly dealt with type of thing before 3:07 the squad deploys psykick inhibitors, no doubt have radioed for techpriests to begin installing permanent versions (as seen on orb1) 3:42 the orbs communicate with each other 4:07 the inquisitorial psyker observes the conversation orb1: We have all failed, the astartes defile all they touch, you must return, break your seal orb2: we will never survive orb1: YOU MUST! (survive), take them with you (the squad) 4:29 psyker warns the captain, who sends the tactical marine to send word psykers presence is revealed to orb1 and he is attacked for dropping his guard, he fights back psyker opens himself to the power of the warp to fight off the orb1, gets a prophetic vision and looses control, is taken over/corrupted/goes rogue or all 3 (side note our psykers power is black smoke, the blue divine is pure warp taking him over) is INSTANTLY put down by the Captain and Sargent 5:05 the squad receives the warning, but it is too late, the creature in the orb2 is already doing its thing 5:12 we see the creature inside the orb, all tentacles and faces, says chaos to me.. but im not 100% its powerful, whatever it is it breaks down its seal (the orb) as a part of its escape, trapping the squad inside it 5:41 point blank high powered plasma round.. didn't go well, not a bad move considering how desperate a situation this is 6:10 we see the creature for its true organic form, for just a brief second as it has the squad tethered and is transporting them somewhere 6:12 in the warp, we see the creature in its divine blue glory, it gets hit by a black shadow and is pushed off screen i think this was the last act of our psyker, who desperately tried to save the marines by trying to shove the creature off them.. we know how that ended at 4:56 6:22 the squad is dumped out on a set of pillars, in a strange land surrounded by what looks like ancient kings, this place sets my hair on end, i cannot tell if it is real or the warp we see our heros face and watch is vomited blood instantly coagulate as the scene fades out, the drumbeats line up with the arrival of the rest of the squad members on the platforms at least in this new hell, they will have each other (Times from Original Astartes part 5)

Discoveries of me and my friends; 1. There is a second Dead orb inside the same chamber as the Inquisitorial guy is in, cables hanging dead from it. Right side. 2. glass sound on the floor when they enter 02. Ice frost, probly due to warp energy bleedout. 3. the skulls and spines around the giant gold guy. Its the same as the 2 psykers they faced outside 02. 4. the orbs are remnant warp weaponry left by the Yu'vath empire from the 39th Millennium. (Check out 'Rouge Trader') 5. Yu'vath was found during the Angevin Crusade in the Calyx Expanse M39.322, they are a warp corrupted xeno empire. Everything they is make constructed of a crystalline or ceramic material that resembles natural or fossilised bone. There is word around tho that they aint Yu'Vath by the creator but i've yet to see any proof of that claim. 6. the patterns on the orbs is the same as the masks of the psykers from ep4. 7. the 'sticks' they shove into the orbs is made by the Inqusition. 8. the orb inside the inqusitorial vessel is communicating with the orb on the ship the Astartes are on. there are 2 active orbs. the Inquisitorial agent notice this. 9. Red top diagram mesurement of something increase alot when it goes active. 10. 'Who is here?' 'I failed brother' 'We have all failed' 'The Astartes defy our touch' 'You must return' 'Break your seal' 'Thats impossible, we'll never survive that' 'You must. Take the others.' 11. Inqusitorial agent; 'RECALL THEM IMMEDIATELY!' 12. Orb; At Last!. (Cables then spark and line goes into the agent). Starts speaking xeno i suspect. 13. Orange backlight, most likely lava, the guys standing around is the same as the 2 they faced in ep4. 14. Back on heretic ship, Sgt. turns his head to the side, most likely getting the recall order. 15. Tentacle creature looks like Asura from indian mythology. The female head on top, symbol looks very similar to thats on the small green screen at 0.22 in the original video. 16. Symbols on the orb appears on the sgt hard when its getting aborbed. 17. Asura looking dude glows blue and Tentacles. You can see 'black' things 'swimning around in there? before one comes from below to eat/attack the blue guy. it breaks and the marines shatter. 18. Blue tentacle looks like it goes into the marines, you can faintly see blue light in the sgt abdomen when he reappears. 19. Red eyelens is dead, armour or helmet has lost power. 20. Strange patterns appear in the marines spit and bile. some say its blood, i say its part of the creature. 21. Giant Skeleton on thrones and such might be Yu'Vath verisons of Titans, or its dead kings/emperors. or the original Yu'vath was that large. 22. You can see the other astartes appear on the other pillars around the area in their own 'teleportish' flashes, you see 3 of them clearly, 1st is to the right side outside panel, you bearly see it. 23. The giant skeletons on the thrones, from the back of their skulls go our spine looking things that looks like what they guys in ep4 had. 24. 1st marine after video, creators chapter, 'Retributors'. 2nd marine is 'Angel Sanguine'. 3rd marine is 'Void Dragons', fanmade chapter by patrons. 4th marine is 'Deaths Hand', fanmade chapter by patrons. 25. The weaponry that attack the hands of death marine is an Eldar shuriken carbine of some sort. 26. Thats a predator tank with anti infantry cannon. Thats all. Feel free to add any findings.

THE ASTARTES SERIES HAVE THE BEST FIGHT SCENES, THE ASTARTES ACTUALLY HAVE MILITARY TACTICS, AND MOVING, COORDINATING AS A TEAM AND FIGHTING LIKE MILITARY SUPER SOLDIERS.. I LIKE THE STUDS IN THE ASTARTES HEAD ARE SMALL. NOT TOO BIG AND CARTOONISH.

To clarify your confusion at, 2:20 in Dan Abnett's 40k books places with intense psychic warp presence often have an unnatural coldness to them. The attention to detail in this cinematic is amazing, how much story they can tell with no dialogue. That cracking sound was ice on the ground cracking, signifying that they are entering into a place full of unnaturally cold warp energy before they actually reveal the nature of the orb to us! Amazing storytelling. At the end I think Tzeentch teleports them to a chaos world to be sacrificed/ play an archetpically sacrificial role in one of his age-spanning grand schemes.

"Who is here" "I have failed, brother" "We have all failed" "The Astartes deny our touch" "You must return" "Break your Seal(Shield?)" "We will merge minds" "You must take the Offer(Other? Alpha?)" On the last note, 'Offer' might mean knowledge? 'Other' might refer to the other Sphere that the Astartes Squad arrive at. No idea what Alpha might mean. As for the vision the Sergeant sees as he approaches looks VERY Eldar. There is cloth around a humanish figure. Kind of like The Deciever? No? As for the blue energy tentacle thing holding the squad, if you slow it down, you can see a large black shadowy thing attack it from below, severing the connection. Throwing the squad randomly through the warp maybe. We all know that the Inquisition Psyker got possessed by something contained inside the sphere, then immediately reduced to a pulp by the Fist of Furious [REDACTED]™. That's all I could grab from it.

The ending scene there, where he is looking down the way of all the sitting skeletons looks like the art piece 'Valley of Death' by Zdzisław Beksiński, so i guess there is some symbolism to take from that

Literally after I got off work immediately rewatched and donated to patreon to the highest donation I could because it is so wonderfully animated with fabulous sound design with a story that ups the ante with every episode

You notice that the psyker has a black energy around him, while the orbs have a blue ones. Before he gets overpowered you see his energy slowly turning into blue. Also, at the end, when the brothers are wrapped in the tentacles, you see the monster being attacked by a black cloud. I think that was the psyker last attempt into saving them before dying.

Inside the room with the “statue” thing are the psyker helmets with the spinal columns in the background. So, the pskyers get these installed and tap into the powers of the Xenos ball or race.

Wtf....this level of detail, sound effects and pacing are extraordinary. What a talent.

While theres a lot of evidence for the orbs being Umbra, C'tan, Yu'Vath, etc. Im certain Astartes said that the xeno artefacts here were entirely of their own creation and unreflected in the lore

C'than shard. Its the only thing i can imagine. And it fits perfectly with the art style of the hell world at the end, and the big metallic body being made at the start, as well as the sentient liquid metal of the orb.

just in case it hasent come up yet, heres a play by play version of whats going on when the orbs are talking Psycher links in and remains as of yet unnoticed. Orb1: We have all failed, the astartes defile all they touch, you must return, break your se Orb2: we will never survive Orb1: YOU MUST! (survive), take them with you (the squad) Psycher, sacrificing himself moves to warn the Astartes The Orbs notice him, and in the split second that he is distracted it moves to destroy him. The psycher's deffenses are over run his mind upon the brink of destruction, desperately he reaches out to the warp. The warp knows no mercy. Instantly his mind is consumed.

Those prayer seals lining the corridor to the sphere was a REALLY nice touch.

Astartes part 5 needs to get on trending. Such great work must be seen everywhere.

The Space Marine Chapters that we see at the end are in order: Red Blood Mark on Helmet = The Angels Encarmine, this is the Second Founding Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels. However as people pointed out (thank you for that) the color scheme matches up with the Angels Sanguine, but the mark doesnt since the Angels Sanguine has a Skull with red wings as their mark. Black Dragons (Only possibly, due to the fact that the color scheme is a bit off, but the white and black is correct. The mark is different as well but similar in design with the dragon head. Wasn't able to find something similar to it yet after looking for some time) = The Black Dragons is one of the Loyalist Space Marine Chapters created during the "Cursed" 21st Founding; its gene-seed is suspected of having originated with the Salamanders. The last one is one hell of a headspin, to be honest. Tried to find something, but nothing. People suggest Sons of Dorn however that doesn't fit at all. SoD (Sons of Dorn) have black and white armor while the ones in the animation have white and blue armor. The only thing they have in common is almost the fist. However, the unknown space marines have a skeleton hand, while the SoD has a fist. The only way its SoD is if they have had a major overhaul. Also where we hear the orb talk it sounds like: We have all failed. The Astartes deny our touch. You must return. Break your seal. If possible. We will no longer survive. You must take the offer/other. (I can hear both of those words when I try to think about which fits better.) In other words, it seems that the Astartes gave the Psychic onboard the ship access to a transmission feed between the two orbs/entities. They had already found one, the rogue people must have then tried to get the other orb away but of course, failed. And to top it off, from what was in the video it seems that the orbs are just their seal to hide their true form which we see when one of the orbs kidnaps the Astartes. And in what I believe is the warp we could see its true form, but it almost immediately got what seemed like attacked from a warp entity. Also, the one which was captured on board with the Psychic listening in most likely used the Psychic's connection to take control over him since the orb couldn't do anything else. However, it seems like he fought the influence of the orb a bit with the flashbacks showing that he could see what the orb has seen without the orb having control yet. But when the orb got control, the Astartes promptly killed him to make sure the orb wasn't a threat and to end the misery of the Psychic.

When the Veteran is shooting the possessed inquisitor, sparks of cyan lightning energy flicker up with each shot even though his head had already been obliterated.

I get a serious “Event Horizon” vibe off of this episode. The statuebot seemed to be made of the same metal as the floating ball and as the masks of the “overseer” bad guys in episode 4. Kinda makes me wonder if the floating ball was controlling those guys the whole time and used the statue as an ambulatory device

Dude that line "Did he roll a one?" had me fallen out my chair. My wife thought I was getting high in the basement, I was laughing so hard.

The hail at the end looks like Shuriken, or Splinter rifle shards.

So the way I see it, is that the orb or something had a spirit. And the statue they were building was to host that spirit. The things the Astartes stabbed the orb with were transmitters that allowed for an connection between the orb on the ship and the artificial one with the agent of the inquisition. I think the orb itself maybe a map or a globe of the planet the Astartes were brought to. Overal astounding piece and I cannot wait for more!

At the moment when the inquisition psyker seems to be communicating somehow with the orb on the battle barge (the one thats locked up), I think those stick things the SM stuck in the other one allowed the two orbs to communicate somehow - in the far distance behind the orb in the sort of dreamworld, you can see the other orb glowing. I think the point of the psyker being there is to intercept the communications between the two orbs in order to learn more about them, but it obviously goes wrong. Then, when the orb says 'take them', I think it is telling the other orb to take out the space marines near it. When the psyker realises this, he nods to the captain, who nods to the other SM, who is probably running to communicate to the other SMs that they are about to be attacked. After, that, all hell breaks loose, and the psyker is possessed by the orb, which likely realised he was listening in.

How much money do we need to donate for him to makes this an hour long?

I like the masks and the spines(simmilar to the earlier duo of sykers that were killed) in the background when they walk past the vessel. The big corpses on the thrones in the ending also have the link sticking out of the back of their heads aswell. "Our escape, We have all failed. The astartes defy our touch. You must return, break your seal. We'll never survive. You must, take them" Is what i think is said between the two orbs. I also love the warning the inquisitor barely gets out before he gets posessed. You can hear the astartes radio on the other ship squeak just before they get taken.

The 'Dragon things' is my custom chapter the Void Dragons I have had contact with the creator. it is amazing :D

I’ve watched this 3 times already. Goosebumps is an understatement.

Its Artificial Intelligence, that giant golden guy, was one of the "men of Gold" leaders of the "Men of Iron". That.s my best guess anyway

I love how he captures the lethal prowess and synchronization of the marines. They are as much weapons of war as the ones they use.

The amazing part about the face punch is that it incapsulates what Space Marines are all about, no hesitation in the face of super natural horror, just respond with extreme violence. He doesn't waste time taking a step back and being shocked or even wondering what to do or what it exactly is that is going wrong, he just knows he can't let it unfold. He sees a problem and he fixes it the way he knows how. He's Bob the Builder, but with violence. Also the visual of the statues at the end is very Zdzisław Beksiński or Wayne Barlowe, both of whom have done amazing depictions of Hellish landscapes, so they're an amazing source of inspiration for 40K.

So there were 2 orbs in this cinematic, one was imprisoned by the Inquisitor and white space marines, the other the objective of the tac squad. After tapping into the second orb this allowed the inquisitor to eavesdrop on the conversation between both orbs (notice a second orb glowing in the background as it communicates with the imprisoned orb). You can hear one of the orbs speaking about failure and succumbing to the astartes and telling the other to break free. Hence the attempted possession of the inquisitor, the white space marines realize this but it's too late. The tac squad get sucked in and teleported.

Awesome subtle detail at around 2:45 before the veteran signals to the marine you can hear a psyker shouting "RECALL THEM IMMEDIATELY" just makes the cinematic all the more epic and immersive.

Someone in the comments on the video suggested it could be Yu'Vath, chaos tainted xenos basically. From the wiki page, sounds about right. But yes, this guy has made some of the best animation I've ever seen. And he's animating quality 40k content, so its a total win.

in my opinion i think the ball is either an old one or a c,tan. c,tan makes sense if the golden body is living metal. Also the knives are inquision speciality knives designed to dampen a psyerkers connection to the warp.

The glass he steps on is the broken piece of his helmet that cracked in last episode, very amazing in terms of attention to detail, as far as that colossus goes, I'm guessing its a shell still being built as the avatar as that thing sealed inside the sphere
