I had one back in the early 90's I gave it to a friend. I just looked at prices on these. Holy smokes are they expensive now. Funny, things I had in the past I would have never thought would be worth so much money now. I had a 5 pin for my Uniden grant XL. great video
Excellent video :) I have had a these power microphone takes 9 volt Astatic 636 L stock microphone, 575 LM 6 , Road Devil RD104E not 104 type with D104 head ! What Truck Stop you seeing these microphone at selling them hopefully Flying J !
I just can’t understand why these are anywhere from $150 to $450 dollars . It’s really no different than a $60 dollar Road Devil You can buy a Heil studio mic for what people think these are worth 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
I got one recently. Seems to work, but it makes humming noise in the audio during TX. No matter, if I touch the metal holding clip on the rear of the microphone or not. That does not seem to be my problem... Already re-soldered all soldering points and replaced both 4,7uF capacitors with new ones. Also, the volume slider works, but modulation will not get louder after moving it upwards to more than 65 or 70 percent... And: can the transistor "age"? Meaning lose some of its performance? Any ideas?
Yes transistors do age. Which radio are you using? Where is the noise on AM or SSB? Do you hear the noise in a monitor? Or other people tell you that it makes noise? In some radios these microphones might not work properly. They just don't match. Usually when I have noises like this, i try lowering the mic gain a bit. But if you go below the middle to reduce the noise, the you will sound the same as a stock mic
