ASTATIC ROAD DEVIL RD104E RED Handheld Noise Canceling CB Microphone 

I sprayed a little WD-40 in the switch and worked it really good and stopped the scratchy sound. It was brand new too. Every new one I’ve owned has done that.

Thanks for the vid. I am looking for a video on the wiring for this particular PTT mic. The wires in mine are broken. I have to re-solder. This video did not address that. That's cool. I'm not sure why so many dislikes though. I still think this video is informative. I gave it a thumbs up.

It's interesting you mention your Astatic mic has a "scratchy PTT button" because I purchased a brand new Astatic D104-M6B hand mic and it too had a scratchy PTT button right out of the box. I pulled it apart and removed the circuit board containing the PTT button and sprayed it down good with contact cleaner and it solved the problem. Otherwise it would be nearly unusable. Don't know if the Road Devil uses the same PTT switch as the D104-M6B but it's rather interesting they seem to have the exact same problem. Meanwhile a buddy of mine has the same mic as I do except his is 22 years old and still works like new. Makes me wonder if Astatic possibly got a batch of dirty PTT switches. I'm thinkin' of trying one of those Road Devil's on my old HR2510...

you can use the PTT switch out of a SUPERSTAR hand held power mic , if you need to replace it, otherwise, good luck finding a switch for that mic.

Mine is doing the same. Going to open it up and spray some cleaner in there. Peavey Funk Out, took some HUGE noise out of my Gitar amp pots.

I have the same mic I did notice when you take off the back of the mic leave the switch in and then key down the mic you will notice that the end of the push section hits part of the antidote on the circuit board . Causing the mic not to key fully

I have an RD-104E with the same problem also, what I wanted to know is how to get the 9 volt battery installed? Because I got the top two screws out but the bottom two are a pain in my butt to get out so I can get the battery inside of it and I wish Astatic had put a much easier way to put the 9 volt battery in and taking it out too!

I bought one on March 4, 2016. PTT has become scratchy when keying up. I've used electronic contact cleaner on the switch with no difference. I called customer support and got a recording that said to leave name, phone, problem. No call return after 3 hours since call. I used to have a D104 on my old Lafayette Telsat SSB 50-A from the seventies. Absolutely no problem ever with that. However, I'm not happy with the way my Road Devil mike is performing. I'll repost if Astatic steps up to the plate for warranty service.

Elect. contact cleaner dude, De-oxit,Radio shack or lightly use WD-40 then work it in.

Same problem with my road devil. Not even a year old and it started acting up.

you need to get some switch cleaner and spray it into the ptt it is just dirty inside

trie to find a spray called 'tuner 600' it cleans the contacts inside

try electric cleaner in the switch then blow it out and it will be cleaned
