I think this video was released just a couple of months after Haruka's (HAL-CA's) 16th birthday, but she actually wrote the song at age 12. To hear what her songwriting was like at 16, try _Dawn_ next. And to hear how progressive she had gotten by 18, pick any track (like _Stars, Gunfire_ or _Church)_ from their most recent album, Guernica+a, which came out last year.
The bass is a custom seven stringer built for Miyu by ESP. He switches over to a four string for some songs. Rarely a five string. That's his older brother Mio on drums. I've never really thought of the Yamaha Pacifica as a Metal guitar choice, but HAL-CA has made me a believer. She turned 19 last November. They played a bunch of small shows in and around SXSW in Austin back in 2019. I caught them in L.A. at their only West Coast show before they headed back to Japan. They are about the nicest and most polite kids imaginable. And HAL-CA is a legitimate force of nature on stage. Their most recent releases, 'GUERNICA' and 'GUERNICA + a', are their most technical and experimental so far.
The seven string bass was made specially for him only by ESP 😀, next songs Dawn, Gunfire, Faced Fyi, LOVEBITES latest AUDIO cover song PAIN KILLER (Judas Priest)
Very impressive - Japan sure is producing a lot of talent. This looks like one way around the language barrier - don't have a singer!! Seriously though - great stuff. My favourite Japanese artists remain "One OK Rock", but this, for a first listen was phenomenal. And Todd - Tony Levin, what a bass player! I think you know PG too well to request him though.
Asterism rocks 🤘🏻 Of course they're still together, they just brought out their second album "Guernica +a" last year and it is damn progressive. Check out their songs then&now or church on their official YT page. Or some classics like dawn or light in the darkness. Hal-Ca is just otherworldly good!
You want to hear another young amazing female guitarist who is from Indonesia then check out Ayu Gusfanz doing a Joe Satriani song "On Peregrine Wings" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N6xDZmFYdlY.html IMO, the young Asian girls and women are taking over the rock/metal scene nowadays and we all need to accept that fact they are doing so much better than a lot of the male guitarists.
