Thanks for the reaction! Seeing the smile on Hal-ca's face is worth the watch.

About a year and a half (ish) ago Hal-ca scored an endorsement deal with ESP. Of course, that's about all you see her with now. The bass player plays ESP bass guitars as well.

great funky groove. She's used a Yamaha Pacifica since the beginning (it was her first, and i've seen her with 2-3 different ones) ; HOWEVER , a couple of years ago she got herself an official ESP endorsement. speaking of ESP, Miyu's 7-string bass is also a one-of-a-kind ESP (they don't have a production model) ; but his first 7-string was an Ibenez (which is a production model ; one of the only companies that do). as for what's next .... dude, i'm here for ALL of it. watching people get enthralled by this band makes me almost as happy as enjoying them myself.

Not the most technically flashy, but just a funky, fun song. One of my favorites 👍

Welcome back. Asterism is quite interesting. They dabble in all kinds of textures, tones and genre's. Impressive because of their relatively young ages(under 20). Add in that they are a 3 piece and one can truly appreciate the effort and fortitude going on here.

Yunagi is a favorite of mine. The jazz/funk sound is a bit different for them but Haruka has done other jazz/funk stuff. Haruka wrote this when she was about 14. It is also really nice to see her smile.

Asterism is: Haruka (Hal-Ca) Noma, lead guitar and vocals, born 11/23/2002 Miyu Yoshinaka, bass, born 3/12/2002 Mio Yoshinaka, drums, born 11/14/1999 All started playing at a young age (Haruka at 10, Mio and Miyu at 6-8). They all attended the Yamaha Music Foundation school in Fukuoka. They performed separately (Mio and Miyu, Haruka) but met in 2014 and were put together to perform in the annual Yamaha Music Revolution competition in 2015. They played several festivals and competed in various music competitions until the release of their first EP, The Session Vol. 1, in 2017. It included three covers and two original songs (155 and Magic Bullet) both written by Haruka. She wrote 155 when she was 11 and they can be seen playing it in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2gBCmUWqtJU.html when they were 11, 11 and 13. Their second EP, the Session Vol. 2 was released a year later and included two more original songs (Rising Moon and Yunagi). Their first full length album, Ignition, was also released in 2018 and included seven original songs and two covers. All the original songs on these EPs and album were written by Haruka between the ages of 11 and 15. Ignition is mostly traditional hard rock and metal and includes Dawn, Blaze and Light in the Darkness. The fancam videos of Dawn, at Club Utero, and Blaze and Light in the Darkness, at Fukuoka Graf (Welcome to Inferno Vol. Max), are classics. They toured Asia and the US supporting the release of Ignition. They produced a series of live in studio performances of most of these songs (battle sessions and 360 videos) and all are available on RU-vid. They next released an EP (Guernica) and then a full-length album extension of the EP (Guernica+a) in 2020. These releases marked a change in style to a more progressive metal/rock sound and includes classics such as Church and Gunfire. All the songs on these releases are original songs. They did live in studio performances of almost all the songs on Guernica+a and these are available on RU-vid. Asterism is perhaps best before a live audience. Haruka has amazing charisma and stage presence for anyone, not to mention for a small (under 5’ tall) Japanese woman. She plays with skill, soul and a ferocious attitude, and a smile on her face almost the whole time. Next Asterism released an album of anime song covers (Animetic), an extended version of that album with the singer PelleK providing vocals and two EPs and an album of original songs with Haruka on vocals called Aside, Beside and Decide. There are official music videos of most of the songs on Animetic. They play frequently at clubs in Tokyo and did a small US tour with shows in LA and NYC and performances on the street in Venice Beach and Hollywood Blvd. Haruka particularly has a significant presence on social media with an active Instagram channel and her own RU-vid channel. She frequently posts playthroughs of their own songs and a lot of covers. Recommended songs for reactors, in chronological order include: • 155 (RH in 2014) - see one of their earliest performances of one of their first original songs • Rising Moon (Official MV) - a well-produced music video of one of their other early songs • Blaze and/or Light in the Darkness (Welcome to the Inferno Vol. Max) - two exceptional performances (fan cam) at a small club before an enthusiastic hometown crowd • Dawn (live 4/20/2019) - a good quality fancam of their performance of Dawn at Club Utero • Church and/or Gunfire (live in studio) - professionally produced live in studio performances. • Scuttle Buttin’ (SRV cover) - fancam of a SRV cover with their own flavor • Unravel (official MV) - professionally produced music video of an anime cover off of Animetic • Fiction (official MV) - first official MV of a song with Haruka vocals There are tons of other videos of live performances and several additional live in studio and fan cam videos. Just about anything by Asterism is fantastic. Asterites (or what do we call ourselves) feel free to correct or add to this.

I'd also recommend "Dawn" live from February 2020. In the 2019 version you hear Haruka better, in 2020 you hear Miyu better.

People compare her to Vai all the time or see Vai influences. But Haruka has never mentioned Steve Vai as an influence in any of her interviews (not that there are many).

Recommend checking out Freeze The Fall. Teen power trio from Canada. 16, 15 and 15. Just dropped their first EP. Official videos for Glitch and Daughters Of Witches. Third one on the way. Will. Not. Disappoint.

Compared to Lovebites, they are more progressive/ experimental and with significantly less corporate overlords over their heads dictating their music
