@@xh7385 Well that makes sense, his French name is a French pun But still, it's interesting to discover their names in other language, as I only ever read the comics in French
@@demete1230 You may refer to an analytic book on the topic of history of this comic series, I only knew the French original names are different from the English version relatively recent.
@@demete1230 Sometimes a French joke or pun is translated into English in an altered manner to fit into the cultural and linguistic gap and perfectly done.
As much as I want that to happen as well, Albert Uderzo was known to be rather...biased against "the incoming invasion of Japanese Manga onto French and Belgian shores" as opposed to classically Western cartoons and comics from the likes of Walt Disney and Superman, as evidenced by the overall plot and alien characters in the Asterix comic "The Falling Sky", as the "good" aliens are akin to Mickey Mouse lookalikes while the "evil" aliens that take their war over to Iron-age Europe, and over the village of Gaul, whom pilot mecha-like spacecrafts and have armor that is Saint Seiya-inspired in design. Then again; Konami made an excellent arcade beat-'em-up based on Asterix exclusively for Europe and Japan around the same time they released their Simpsons arcade beat-'em-up in North America and Japan, and is arguably better than their Simpsons game...maybe an anime based on Asterix doesn't sound so farfetched afterall~!
