Aston Martin has unleashed the power of three Aston Martin Valkyrie models, while providing Aston Martin Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Alex Albon their first taste of the revolutionary hypercar at Silverstone.
I guess its like giving a Michelin starred chef a regular ass meal and asking them to rate it; but also the chef is employed by the person who created the regular ass meal
@Marnix ikr, finally a car video focusing on the car itself and the sound and driving performance. Not someone constantly talking with an annoying song drowning out the engine.
It is definitely and working together with AM is horrible - trust me, never seen such a chaotic troop. The whole project is delayed about 1 year bc AM has no money.
@@ziegaful whom designed and are developing the car is basically RedBull. Aston guys are just sneaking around to learn something to tell the cameras when they appear.
Armando Sturzenegger It surprises me that arguably the most successful constructor in F1 history who have worked with multiple engine manufacturers could suddenly fail to supply the necessary information to combine engine and chassis successfully, over several seasons. Honda were in major denial and I suspect the new contract with Red Bull involved punitive clauses if the engine was not up to scratch and a few personnel at Honda got their marching orders.
Shit, for a 8 million dollar contract I’d fucking say that a 1990 Toyota Corolla was the fastest fucking car on the market, and that it fixed my marriage, took off some pounds, and regrew my hair...
Gearbox is special dual clutch made by Ricardo (one of the best in the business). The gearbox also contains the additional electric motor which needs to be properly calibrated to work with the gearbox and the engine's 11,000 rpm. All this together means they likely severely limited the shift durations so the whole system didn't eat itself to pieces.
It does seem like they are really struggling to dial in that transmission... Gear changes are too slow for a car of this type, also the noticeable jolt with every shift could upset the balance of the car and dunno how that would effect reliability
I feel like the drivers weren't really impressed ..they just try to say something nice for the camera...also, I think the fact it's a single clutch makes it slower
I got the same impression, but to them it probably feels like an outdated and poorly set up F1 car ... and if they worked with that team to refine the setup .. the average driver ironically would probably hate it, LOL.
@@lar2028 No. The whole purpose was for Newey to show what he could do without F1 rules holding him back. And they're faster than the LMH rules would allow anyway. What's the point in racing a slower road car than the race car.
They'll end up driven . . . stuck in traffic in downtown New York and London. That's where they should be testing them -- see whether they overheat or their auto-clutches burn up in stop and go traffic.
@@spacewombat4569 You have no idea what you are talking about. That car is nothing like an F1 and bloody driver know that is the case hence why he said it would be mind blowing as a road car. An open wheel car is not like a hardtop car and an F1 driver can be impressed by a road car as well because it is a different experience. It is like saying a motorcycle racer would not be impressed by an F1 car due to it being a different experience.
Josh Rinlee terrible editing 😂 I think Max started talking, but they muted the audio so it just made it look like they had prolonged, intimate eye contact where the rest of the world melted away
they seem less than excited??.. unfortunately to them, it probably feels like a crappy F1 car, instead of an Outrages Road car ... a perspective issue.
It's interesting though, because it's a road car they can actually exceed certain F1 specs that limit F1 cars. I think this thing will be really interesting when finished. A real racer instead of a drag race or straight line speed car.
@@claysmell what I can't understand, is that this engine sounds like a V6 ? or V8? .. in one shot there, I thought I saw a 7,500 rpm redline shown? .. but the Cosworth V12 was supposed to redline at 11,100rpm ... a V12 at 11K rpm, shouldn't sound like this ??
@@KrustyKlown It's still in prototype stage. Aston Martin must have electronically limited the RPM, top speed, etc. To hide its true potential, or for testing. This is not new, and not surprising as well. It's a common practice in the automotive industry. Even the prototype Porsche 918 back in 2012 I remember is also electronically limited in speed, rpm, etc. Same as the prototype McLaren P1.
That shifter does look a bit "agricultural" at the moment, but this thing should be properly bloody quick when finished. I wonder if Aston/Red Bull will be giving new owners some tuition, as frankly most owners will run out of talent very quickly in a car like this.
The average sports car owner will own multiple cars from every single brand. It is hard to drive your cars very often when you own 20 of them and take a helicopter to work. There is no upper middle class that can afford to just buy one of these cars anymore it’s only people with hundreds of millions to spend that buy more than they can drive. These cars not being driven is the result of a shrinking middle class that could buy one of these cars and actually have time to drive it. You can’t blame someone who owns fifty super cars and gets around by helicopter and jet for not having time to drive every single car very often. Gone are the days of the successful college grad lawyer/doctor that worked extremely hard and is able to afford a Ferrari that they drive on weekends. Much like how kings owned more chateaus than they could spend time in wealth has gotten so out of control that these guys can’t even enjoy the vast amount of things they own.
@@domnoya4130 That reminds me of an article about Bugatti owners. The average Veyron owner had something like 40+ cars, two private jets, two yachts and helicopters.
@@domnoya4130 Well if Aston Martin and McLaren open a dealership in North of Mexico I beth you will see tons of this super fancy cars street illegal races an on the roads Mexican Narcos bring Lamborghini and Porsche fo México the bought near to 60% of the cars and always end up given away free to normal people in El Dorado Mazatalan Sinaloa theres a Yatch club meeting point for the Drug Lords were they end up giving this super cars as tips to the local workers also when Marines and Army confiscate this cars end up in the enervant Museum in Mexico city were they are sold by 1/4 of the real cost plus the Armour vehicles has increased and acelerated descalation of the luxury market so solutiin is right there but nobody want to stain their hands
The video that RBR put up just made me want to rip my hair out, some fine gentleman linked me to this video. I LOVE THIS CAR. This is on Project Cars 2, right?
@@kylem2010GT in race trim, yes. It remains to be seen what the road car will rev to. My guess is that they lower the redline to extend engine longevity.
love how everyone disregard the fact that this is just a prototype. the man also said that this is a raw prototype. you don't want push a work in progress shit, this is just a mere memo for the next improvements they will make
It may be new and from a fantastic brand etc but the video is a very poor representation of it. It looks horrible here. You'd think they'd have it sorted by now.
@@DapperHesher if they're keeping thay horrible laggy shift, they be better off putting manual box in there and be a legend. Hopefully the final version would be better shifted than this one.
@@ardijanuar2036 It almost certainly won't. It may still be a harder shift like a proper race car, but it will not be laggy. This is really early in the development process. Software, in particular, takes time to dial in. Y'all fuckin' automotive engineers on here or something. Settle down with the critiques. *rolls_eyes
They're using a single clutch for some reason, so I would assume the sudden jerkiness from such a long-ass shift might be causing a bit of loos in control?
Those kinda slow and brutal shifts seems to really upset the car's balance in the corners... you could see the drivers tought the same by the look on theyre face when it happens... The revs were limited to 8K , but the engine revs to 11K, wich wil be the cause of the shifting issue, not shifting at max throttle or RPM, and thats allright on the track, but this is meant to be a roadcar also, and be bought by miserable drivers, so i hope they sort out the shifting at low speeds/revs...
@@keithjackson4985 theyre not dated, they are actually really good , fast, light and small, but they need to be set up very well and have a well mated engine...
Not IN the corners no, but just Before the corner you downshift to set up the car ... And there's where the car starts to unsettle when downshifting.. thats where you see that they have to counter steer before the turn
the speedo and rev counter on the steering wheel would have worked better if they could somehow have made the digital dial keep still and not move with the steering wheel , If RR can do that with their RR badge on road wheels then should be possible with a digital display. will the finished project be different ?
Shifting is weird. You see them pressing the pedal, then it looks like its mach revs, nothing, and then kicks in acceleration. You see it on their bodies that it is violent and it takes time. Maybe to save engine? Or maybe hybrid part is still not calibrated?
You can hear and see that they're not applying the throttle fully. Also, that "violent shaking" is a combination of engine braking + sudden up shifts which unsettles the car. It happens in shittier cars than the Valkyrie. My friends Holden Commodore has an 'active select', and it does the same thing (but not as much). Alex and Max are probably not ringing the neck out of the car because they're following the engineer's instructions.
@@samuelmendezguevara5506 Jesus christ, what a shitbox. Thats the issue with modern supercars. Miserable single clutch gearbox to safe weight, but at the same time a fucking useless hybrid system.
@@C6SuperchargedZR1 uhhh, a single clutch can be as fast as the majority of double clutch units. And you should care about saving weight more than that.
C6SuperchargedZR1 you sure you know more than the Engineers who choose it. Most or all race cars don’t use a dct for a good reason weight and temperature/cooling
@@kenvanpassen9247 it makes the ferrari look tame and ordinary. Thats ignoring the sound that thing makes which frankly hasnt been heard since the V12 f1 era, and sounds awesome. Question i have is though, wtf would a redbull driver want a ferrari??
Wow everyone is so critical of this video! This is still under development and being tested people. And Alex/Max are professionals there to work and give technical feedback, not ogle. Man, unreasonably tough crowd man.
Stunning vehicle all around and sounds fantastic but I wish it was a tick louder just seemed quiter then I expected from a 1000 plus hp naturally aspirated v12..sound itself is very nice tho.I just wanna hear more of it
These up shifts? Is that normal? Sounds very slow.. Like its holding in like a second before putting the power on again. My Opel Vectra shifts smoother.
That thing is going to annihilate the current crop of supercars and hypercars on track. My guess is it'll be quicker than the Mercedes-AMG One and Lotus Evija too but by how much is what is going to be fascinating.
You all remember the Nissan Nismo LMP1. This will be the same, a year out of development and it will be obsolete. No point in racing a car that can't compete. Tax write off for Aston.
First: sadly, Aston won't compete anymore on WEC. Second: the front engine, front wheel drive Nissan was a completely new concept and had a really problematic development. Third: this is the road car. Tell me a road car that has more than 1hp/kg, active suspension, could do 0-200kph in around 5s, reach 400kph and have Group C levels of downforce.
