The French and Indian War lasted from 1754-1763. This conflict between the British colonies in North America, and the French colony in Canada changed the imperial makeup of the continent.
The most obvious outcome of this war was the expulsion of France from Canada, but many events that followed can be tied to this war.
The financial costs of the war led the British to levy taxes on the American colonists. These taxes resulted in protests, such as the Boston tea party.
This war also changed military tactics of the time. Some of these changes are reflected in modern day special forces.

For Canadians, the War of 1812 is the most important war. Jefferson told Madison that taking Canada [sic] would be as easy as marching. It didn't turn out that way and fortunately Canada became its own country. Even Polk's campaign slogan "54.40 or bust" went bust. Don't get me wrong, I like Americans, I just don't want to be one.

Canada is just a American vassal state like the rest of Western Europe. You’re not a American but your country is subservient to ours

Kenneth Roberts wrote many fictional books of this period, including Northwest Passage, which was made into a film starring Spencer Tracey. Roberts book give a very balanced view of both sides in the political struggles that led up to the revolutionary war.

I miss the good old days of French dominance over North America. I wonder what the world would be like if they would have been able to hold on part of North America. Would it have brought war to North America or closer collaboration between French and English?

I saw a TV show a while ago, I think it was called "The Butterfly Effect," that talked about this kind of stuff. They would pick a pivotal event in history and speculate on what the world would be like if that event hadn't happened.

@ErikKSwanson he was the most famous American born and raised soldier of the pre revolutionary period. He had a meeting with George Washington at the outbreak of the revolution, however after this meeting he joined the British. He spend several years in London between the French / Indian War and American Revolution. I guess he was too British for the Americans and too American for the British.

It’s reality. Grow up. Being a man dressing like a girl is nothing to be proud of, sodomy is nothing to be proud of. But fighting for your people and sacrificing for them certainly is something to be proud of. That’s what real pride looks like. I’m so thankful to my ancestors and proud of what they built
