Astorflex Boot Review: A $250 Chelsea Made Right In Italy 

Owning high end boots like Viberg, Alden etc, I can clearly say that Astorflex makes my favorite everyday boots. I own two of their cheleas and three of their desert boots. Comfort, price point, quality of the leather... All are great. Sure the silhouette might be chunkier than your typical brand of boot, but the chunkiness lends to a more casual and comfy vibe and that crepe sole is insanely comfortable to walk in. I will say, I'm not a fan of the stone coloration in the bitflex. You probably would have enjoyed them a little more in a nubuck leather or dark khaki because they are more versatile and complement the types of "rugged" selvedge denim our community is affiliated with.

Nick, great review as always. So glad to see Astorflex get some love and exposure. I have 2 pair, the Contflex (discontinued, sadly)) and the Bitflex-Exclusive and I love both of them. They are well made, had no break in issues with either of them. They are comfortable all day and the Bitflex garners compliments literally every time I wear them. As far as the suede/crepe sole, never again. I have another brand of desert boots with crepe soles that I have had for a few years. The uppers are in great shape, but until I get new soles I am embarrassed to wear them.

I just found a near new pair of these on Mercari for $50 in my size. They are a fantastic addition to my Chelsea collection. Very casual in the stone color and pair well with light denim and an Outerknown Blanket Shirt. Love them!

I’ve had these boots, in the dark brown color, for about 5 years. I put some drugstore insoles in them because they were a bit roomy, but are easily one of my most comfortable boots. They’re my “dancing boots” whenever we go out. Love the fact that they’re chunkier because they don’t fall into that “Chelsea Pinterest guy” category and are more versatile. They look great even 5 years later.

I think "ideal stitching" is just marketing jargon. These are just simple stitchdown (turned out upper stitched through the leather midsole with the crepe sole glued on as Nick says in the video). Nothing wrong with that, though, and this brand makes amazing footwear for the price!

I also just ordered the "Patnoflex" traveller; Modestly Minimal did a great review on those.

I seen one with the crepe sole and one with a leather sole. Is there a difference besides the obvious one?

I bought a pair of the Chelsea boots a few years back from Huckberry on sale for $100. They are comfortable and work well for my wide foot. I ended up getting a Dukefkex chukka as well from an English retailer.

I was wondering when you would review these. They are my daily driver, Chukkas and Chelsea’s. I stomped around Manhattan for a week in mine and they felt amazing. I even picked up the Beenflex. All my other boots are collecting dust.

I wear 10.5 in redwings so should I get the 10?

I'm a 8EEE in Grant Stone, 8.5E Allen Edmonds, and a 9 in Thursday boots. see you say it's a roomy fit but is it a 8EEE roomy? 9 has a issue with perhaps being too loosen and slipping for a Chelsea. I have no idea what to order for these. I

Grant stone has the Chelsea in tan suede on sale, I thing those are way better, are 225 usd with the discount code.

Do they come in wider sizes? Because I don’t see a standard or wide. Typically European run slightly narrow? That true?

Sometimes all you want are a comfortable pair of boots, and these look very comfortable. They don’t look too big. I heard somewhere that you should balance your boots with the thickness of your thighs… sounds odd, I know, but it kinda makes sense. Skinny legs - slim boots. Chunky legs - wide chunky boots. Not sure what you think of that.

The importance of a shank is the number one takeaway I got from watching Rose Anvil. It's a necessity for me with boots that aren't flat. I can't believe how long I struggled with brands like Clarks and Doc Martens.

Roomy fit, good cushion, friendly price. Sounds like a good recipe for daily beater.

My pair of Astroflex had the exact same sole and it wore out in about three months.

This might be the only chelsea I actually like the look of! They're slightly chunky without looking too much like the veldskoene variety which I just find too bulbous as a boot. Most chelseas are also way too narrow and pointy and I'd feel a bit pretentious wearing them. These actually hit the mark I reckon!

Could you do an “essentials” guide for winter along with your go to footwear? That’d be awesome. 🙌🏼

Good brand, especially for the money. Their desert boots are better than Clarks and reasonably priced. No wide sizes, though, so they're no good for me anymore.

I’ve been having a hard time finding Astorflex in the states… not a lot of retailers sell them here. I’ve been jonsing for a pair of the Dukeflex for months now…

Anyone in the comments have experience with getting them resoled? If so, was it tough to find a cobbler?

Why can't they make soles for boots from the same material as Keens sandals? I supinate badly so wear away unevenly at my numerous dainite soles and I'm sure these would wear away in no time like my Danner Bull Run crepes. Yet my Keens after many kms pavement pounding on holiday look as good as new.

Would these be wearable in rainy/snowy days?
