Hi from Brazil. The same thing happened to me when I washed my Astra rear seats. The center rear seat belt got stuck, but went back to normal. Astra CD 2.0 16v

Those seats are a mot fail because rear passengers can't escape quickly your your levers cabled are slap the car fails MOT so you having none definite fail and dangerous

@The Savage Garage Now you have changed the seats wont the seat airbag throw on the airbag light as its not connected. Should of swopped them over aswell whilst seats out.

Must admit My MK4 SRI Turbo is still the scariest car ive ever owned. It had the full GSI interior and i agree totally about the seats they are awesome! Have a look at a Z20LET Conversion. You wont regret it.

Hey, man you are doing great, I follow your work (hobby), since the beginning. Keep up the good work, and some advice, you can think for upgrading the side mirrors from manual to electric, it's really easy and straight forward procedure.😉

i have a question for you. Did your astra ever had a problem where when you turn the key and it just cranks some time before starting up. I currently have that problem where i turn the key, the car cranks multiple times and starts. I changed the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, replaced fuses and etc. Havent checked only the injectors. Tested the battery and it shows 12.9 Volts. Also when i start the car the lights on the car flicker until it starts then go back to normal. I think its prob because of the Alternator but im not sure. My car is Astra g 1.6 16v 101ps petrol.

I loved the Mk4 I had then I went caught the diesel bug lol. I am looking for a rear seat the bench one for my Audi a4 avant sport b6 I can find them but there normally in a set or to expenses for what they are av got the sline leathers in front no to bad looking good quality.🤟👍

Here I am going to put some mods you can add to your great astra: 1.Irmsher Armrest 2. Electric side mirrors 3.Electrochromatic main miror, is really cool. 4.You can add Ceiling box from Opel(Vauxhall) B 5. Also a overhead ligh with left and right buttons, volume sensors in it. 6. Wiper handle from Omega B with potentiometer, with which you can control in intervals the pause to the wipers. 7.Add the spats to the rear arches 8.Bonnet to the hood 9.Shark eyes 10. Glove box with lock from astra mk4 cabrio. 11. Install CID display +console (NAVI) 12.Climatronik 13.Sensor for rain in the windscreen 14. Fog Sprinklers from insignia 15. Original Bosch parktronic

Seatbelts lock when at a certain angle which must be a safety feature. I think it's something like 45 degrees.

You know what's next Vauxhall did Turbo the 1.6 engine in 2006-7 180bhp or 2.0 gsi engine ,that cars well built I had a Zafira 1.6 for 9 years loved the thing I was going to turbo it.Check out Aaron Unknown Gsi. every body knows who he is.😊👍

You could fit italian leather handbrake & gearlever gaitors james. Aaron unknown on youtube got them somewhere. They looked real good. Not sure where he got them from. Carbon fibre effect for centre of the dash with triple gauge conversion. Smoked wind deflectors. Twin irmscher exhaust.

Good job nice seats. But it's freezing. En you got shorts on?. Or how do you cal them. Do you got ice bear blood?. Lol but when you drive you're Astra you think those seats ads 50 bhp extra. That's the fun rebuilding you're own car. Good job.

@The Savage Garage I think your rear lights look great as standard... I did the same to my rear lights, just tinted them. I have installed LED’s all round, there’s a company local to me that usually can do a whole set, Classic Car LED’s in Cheltenham, usually post first class. Really decent bulbs, Duncan is a decent chap I highly recommend them www.classiccarleds.co.uk

Finished my Fiesta's engine bay in the summer using Yum Dress. Use VERY sparingly but it is good on plastics you dont need to touch very often. Quite glossy, but feels ultra shiny. Hard to describe. I've no doubt it'll be great on tyres from my usage on plastics so far. I like their products. Lemon air freshener is one of my favourite car things of any type from any brand. And I completely get the whole seat thing!

Too bad that the seats don't have the mechanism for the 2 door Astra. For the rear lights, you could go with the OPC/GSI model, meaning the rear lights have white and red colours.

Even if your not a fan of vauxhall's any serious DIY car has to acknowledgeabd own that your astra looks clean! Good job James mate.

I can’t help but notice that you didn’t put the seat belt bolt back in where the new covers went to cover it up 🤔 You should change the centre console to the original silver colour that all GSI Astra’s had. Incase you don’t know you’re front seats are the zafira gsi seats. Love the videos mate keep up the amazing work. I’m glad some else found out you can restore faded plastic with the Yums tyre dressing

Looks very good, I thit the same thing with my BMW full leather. It is always very satisfying when you have done it yourself. The centerconsole, change it back to stock black, or in the color of the car.

V6 swap would be cool. Then it's not just a Gsi rep. Putting a Z LET in it would seem a bit meh. Plus the V6 is a fairly cheap engine to buy.

If you had used the seat lift via the leaver on the side it wiuld have given you enough room to remove the wiring without dismantling, but then i am a mechanic with just 54 years experience, no youtube in my background lol

Bit late commenting as I’m behind on your vids James, I really love where this car has ended up from what it started as on the channel,I honestly think it’s hard choice between these and mk4 golf as my favourite car,love to see an engine swap in this but as you say it’s pricey, great content James you also seem very happy in your content making recently

How about making the headlining black or even better alcantara?

The centre seatbelt on the bench was locked because you had it on its' side. The belt retractor thought it was in a car that had rolled and so locked up as it is designed to. The belt was in the fully retracted position against the little plastic button on the webbing so it's unlikely to have locked up from a crash with someone wearing it as it would be in the extended position then... I think the fact that the retainer bracket for the seat wiring connector is missing on your new front seats is pretty much proof that the came from a Zafira rather than an Astra as the wiring loom is different on the Zafira so the plugs are in a different place on the floor. One thing I would say, and I know it's a royal pain now the seats are in, but you really need the convoluted tubing over the under-seat wiring as it's there to prevent spilled drinks from running along the wiring and ending up getting into the connectors causing functional issues with the safety equipment. They aren't just there to keep everything tidy, the manufacturers wouldn't spend that money just to do that, they really do actually have a genuine function...

I would like to see you upgrade the entertainment system, not to a aftermarket one, but woth a tablet, can be done, thinking of doing it myself 🤟👍👂📻🎵

Seats look much nicer they set the interior off a lot cleaner. Ive gotta be honest and say, personally if those were my seats those small tears in both front drivers and passengers would eventually do my OCD in😂

I have got the same problem with my car. I also had the problem with the cables but now i know how to fix it so thanks for the video! But my question is know how to get the airbag light of because my previous seats had the airbag and also my new ones but the cables are different so do you have a seclusion for that?

Instead of an engine swap maybe slap a turbo on it? It would be something different for your channel and I'd be very interested in watching you go throught the process

Might be worth checking if the seat frames are the same as the SXI seats? Could swap all the foam and covers onto the tilting frames.

The reason why the seat belt wasn't working was because the seat was on its side and it locks up, so when your upside down in a crash the seat belt keeps you locked in 👌🏻 great video

Don't change the rear headlights. All the aftermarket stuff looks so pathetic...

If your bothered about those bits of damage on the seats upol has a product that fills and repairs leather and is flexible it's part of the plastix range of products,I used it when I was doing smart repairs on interiors of cars 👍

Some nice leather door cards next? Get some touch up pen on the drivers edge. Also, you can use heat gun or steamer to remove slack from the leather and make tight again, some good vids on here showing how to

The gsi seats make a huge difference fair play for future videos maybe change the front bumper and rear for gsi and maybe v6 it further down the line

They look nice , but, is it an MOT failure if the front seats don't fold down to allow back seat passengers in or out?

Same for most rear seats, they need to be in the car and in the right position in order to release the seatbelts. I found this out in my VRS when doing a full detail clean and panicked like hell!

Think you have to find the correct gsi bumpers for it now and all the other little gsi bits, leave the engine alone until you’ve finished all the other bits and then make a decision on whether to swap it or not 👍🏻

Seat belts have gravity device to lock the belt with impact. Also if the car rolls, the belts will lock.. great vids.

Seat belts have a mechanical device in them that tells them if the car is on four wheels(upright) and lock if it is not hence the rear seat belt locking when you tested it. Good video

I just brought a Astra Sri 2.2 that has half leather recaro seats with the tilt handle do they have heated seats? I have a spare space on the control panel with the plug for them 😀

The seat belt not working is because the seat were on there side. It’s a they have to be in their upright position for them not to lock. It’s a safety mechanism for if the car ends up on its roof.

Great content again... the only thing with them seat it's the Mark's/ slight tears on front seats I'd have to get then sorted...little mod led rear registration plate lights.

What did you do with the old seats? I need a passanger seat which as I could see was in pretty good condition. It's tough to get them and I need it for rhd version.

You should add another snowflake for the spare wheel so when u do get a puncher u can just swap it guicker without having a issue with ur 4 lug spare wheel

On both the drivers and passenger seats there is a patch of white on the bolster where it is worn. A black marker pen would solve that.

Seatbelt probably didn’t work due to the angle it was at - anti fall device incase of a accident kinda thing

i would try and keep as oringinal as you can with maybe a few changes with tail light swap and things like that as you dont want to take it down the boy racer route and you keep some value in the car s well as it can put a lot of people of buying it but them seats are looking nice in it i love the mk 2 astra as i have had a few of them in the past and found them easy to work on as well but that is a nice little astra you have there as well

When the seat stays vertical meaning not horizontal the seat belts locks. That's normal

pre adjusters and fitment are different because they are Zafira gsi seats, Astra Gsi are the same fitment as SXI etc
