I didn't know the option at the end mattered. I chose the first one and the Axe legion joined me, but the second one hurts more for me tho. The Arrow Legion, who was originally Akira's legion, disobeys you and stays active of it's own free will to end her/Noah. That hits deep.
*WARNING: I went a bit overboard cause I love trying to give the Legions voices.* *I can't....* > You have made your decision. You decided to spare Akira, your own sister. > She looks at you in the eyes...Saying to... Akira: "......Do it...." > You've already made up your mind. You can't bring yourself to kill your own sister, no matter what... Protagonist: "........I.....I...can't.... I can't...!" > You let go of your X-Baton and fall on your knees, starting to cry. > Akira looks at you once more as she holds back Noah. Akira: "You...were always too nice...Brother..." Protagonist: *sob* "A-Akira...S-Sister...." > Your Legatus suddenly begins to shine in blue as it activates on its own. > You look at it in shock as it flies into the air and then the Arrow Legion, Akira's original Legion, appears. Protagonist: "What the...?! H-Hey, what are you doing?!" > You get up as you look at the Arrow Legion, still shocked to see that it summoned itself. > As for Akira, she shows a sad smile... Arrow Legion: "............." Protagonist: "What are you doing?! Answer me! .....Ah!" > You suddenly remember that the Arrow Legion WAS Akira's Legion originally. > You look back at Akira...And then at the Legion. > The Legion looks at you. > Your eyes suddenly turn blue as you hear a voice in your mind. Arrow Legion's voice: *".........We must...There is no other way we can set her free from her suffering. There is no other way we can get rid of Noah. And so...We must put an end to her life. Forgive me...Howard."* > Your eyes go back to the normal shade of blue as the Arrow Legion charges up one final arrow towards Akira. > Upon hearing that voice and seeing this, you immediately start to pull the chain to stop the Legion from killing her. Protagonist: "Gah!! N-No...!! STOP!!! PLEASE!!!" > You keep pulling the chain towards yourself. It doesn't do anything. > The Legion has decided on what was the best course of action... > For you, for your sister, for the Ark... > You desperately look at Akira, who nods with a final smile as she prepares for the final blow. Protagonist: "Come on...!! No....!! AKIRA!!! Please...STOP IT!! I'M BEGGING YOU!!!" > You still try to pull the chain...Even if it doesn't do anything. > You were desperately trying to save your sister...When you know it's not possible. Protagonist: "Just STOP!!! Come on...Dad...!! DO SOMETHING!!!" > You yell towards the Arrow Legion, hoping that the Axe Legion would take over. > But nobody came. > You can't summon another Legion while one is active, unless it is unchained with a special ability. > You look at Akira, trying to reach out to her with your hand, as she smiles...One last time. > And then...The Arrow Legion shoots a single arrow, towards her. Protagonist: *gasp* !!!! > In your mind...You could hear a voice, saying... *"There is...no other way.."* > The arrow goes at full speed towards Akira. > You desperately call out to her, even though her fate...has been sealed. Protagonist: *"AKIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"* > And then... > In just a moment, it was all over.
@@burnneblograv46 Want me to do that part as well? Oh sure! *WARNING* This moment was altered from the original cutscene to give it a bit more feels and also cause I love giving the Legions voices. *...All right.* > You've made up your mind... > The toughest decision yet. > You've decided...to perform sororicide: the act of killing your own sister. > Akira looks at you in the eyes and with regret she says... Akira: "I'm sorry....Brother..." Protagonist: "........Akira...." > You were about to tear up and cry... > However, you look back at Akira with a straight face, despite the tears. "Alright... I'll do it." > You hold your X-Baton tightly in your hand as your resolve became clear. > At the same moment, your Legatus shines in blue, its core flying up towards the sky on its own. > And all of a sudden, the Axe Legion, Max's original Legion, summons itself and lands on the ground. > You look at it in confusion. Protagonist: ".......Dad... ...Hey, do I...really have to kill her? Isn't there another way?" Axe Legion: "...... You've made up your mind already, Howard. I don't see a reason why should you restrain yourself from doing it. Witnessing Akira's desperate plea to end this war...If I was in your situation, I would've fulfilled her wish already." > The Axe Legion walks towards you and puts its hand on your shoulder. Axe Legion: "I know the thought of losing your sister is difficult, almost impossible to bear. If you can't carry this burden alone, then...I shall carry it too." Protagonist: "But...! Y-You don't have to-!" Sword Legion: "Don't have to suffer as much as I would? Is this what you're trying to say?" Protagonist: "Ah!" > You look behind yourself. > To your uttermost shock, you see the rest of the Legions together as "phantoms" since the Axe Legion is already summoned. Protagonist: "The Legions..." Sword Legion: "That's right. The least we could do is appear in this sort of state so that we could talk to you, Howard. Or at least, myself and the Arrow Legion especially." > The Arm Legion approaches you first. > Unlike the others, it's not much of a talkative type. > The only thing it could right now to cheer you up...is to ask for a fist bump. > You look at it in confusion, it answers back with a nod and a determined look. > Then you look at your hand and decide to fist bump with the Arm Legion, as it nods one more time. > The Beast Legion walks towards you next as it looks sad and whines, seemingly due to how much it understands the current situation. Protagonist: "........There there, it'll be fine..." > You pat the Beast Legion's head like you always do and end up giving it a hug. > Despite the Sword Legion being YOUR Legion, you could feel a hint of sadness across all of the other Legions. > All of them had ties to their original users, which had ties to your sister and yourself. > The Arm and Beast Legions then disappear while the Arrow Legion approaches you next. Arrow Legion: "............. Are you sure you're able to do this, Howard?" Protagonist: ".......Well...I... The more I think about it, the more it's scaring me to death... But if I don't do anything, Noah's just gonna break free. .....If I have no choice but to kill her...I... I, at least, want you to know that...I'm grateful for everything you've both done to help me." > As the Arrow Legion disappears, it seems to be looking relieved but also sad at the same time. > Before that, it gave a hug to you. Arrow Legion: "...I'm entrusting you both with this, alright...? Please, free her from all this pain for me." > And then, the Arrow Legion vanished. > There was one more Legion remaining as a "phantom", yours. The Sword Legion. Sword Legion: "I never was the best at long emotional or motivational talk. Then again, you weren't much better either, Howard." > It walks towards yourself and the Axe Legion. "Your mind's made up?" > You took a moment to hesitate, even though you already know what to do. > You just wanted to prepare yourself mentally for what you were going to do. Protagonist: "Yeah. ....Hey, can you stay like this for a while longer? I...don't think I can do this alone, even with the Axe Legion with me." Sword Legion: "........Of course." > You and the Axe Legion both get up as you all look at Akira, still holding back Noah. Axe Legion: ".......Ready, Howard?" > The Axe Legion goes into a stance, preparing its...well...axe. > Even in all the hesitation you're in, you still find the courage to take a stance as well. > Your hands are shaking. > The Sword Legion holds your wrists with its hands in order to help. > It looks at you and nods as Akira smiles one last time, ready to take the final blow. Protagonist: "Damn it...A..Akira..." > Despite the sadness that overcomes your heart... > Despite the guilt you would feel because of your actions... > You still have the strength to move on. > You and the Sword Legion then throw the chain forward, motioning the Axe Legion to end it. Protagonist/Sword Legion: *"GO!!!"* > With its Axe in hand, and tears coming out of its eyes... > The Axe Legion lashes out at Akira and Noah to deal the final blow. > Was it truly how it was meant to be? > The two Legions and yourself then share one last thought before the end. Axe Legion: *"...........Akira..."* Sword Legion: *"Even though you'll be gone...That doesn't mean that I'll..."* Protagonist: *"You'll still be here somewhere right? I've got your Legion with me...So you'll still be with me just like old times."* Sword Legion: *"As long as you're somewhere, wherever it is, I'll never give in. I will keep on fighting."* Axe Legion: *"Even if it was someone else who was doing this, it wouldn't have made a difference. Because..."* Sword Legion: *"Because..."* Protagonist: *"Because you'll still be somewhere out there...! Right...?"* All three: *"I know you will..."* > In just a moment... > It was all over.
This boss was a total nightmare in pt standard mode, the coward kept teleporting and bombarding me with energy attacks I had to use the beast to close distance on him and dodge all his attacks
@@daviddavidson6359 I enjoyed it. I think is reasonable to make a ton of damage since all the things that happen in the last section if the story, I also enjoy playing extremely hard games and dominate it.
That Noah Core fight is one of the most visually stunning boss fights I've ever seen, especially that drop at 8:48. Playing it in the moment, I felt like I myself was falling. It was incredible.
@@theoneintheback3783 Yeah, like the overarching story has already been done so many times, and the story choices were predictable. Though, I wouldn’t say the story is bad or anything, because I actually still enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun to play through too
Honestly... I wish our protagonist wasn’t silent. That ending speech pretty much defeats the entire purpose. This whole time I was kinda hoping our MC would talk, but not saying anything considering they’re brothers kinda makes the whole thing feel so off. I would be just content with the MC at least yelling out Akira’s name just once, but not even that.
I wanted the protagonist to just yell out Akira’s name right before she disappeared with Noah. It would’ve been so emotional. The silent protagonist was literally my one and only little problem with this phenomenal game, and the problem is that he does actually have a personality. The protagonist is serious and determined, but he cares about his family, and wants to protect Akira even more after they lost Max. I would’ve liked it if he kept the same personality, and just said at least a few lines in each file and the important cutscenes.
there are so many games out there that handle mute characters right. For one: Breath of the wild. They achieve this I think by having the characters that _can_ talk say things that don't necessarily need input. Whenever they talk to link, everything they say is very cutting, not really giving link a chance to input anything to the conversation. But Astral Chain was just awkward because the characters constantly ask the MC things and of course the MC doesn't respond. Their conversations are ones that by nature should go back and forth, but again, the MC doesn't talk. They could've handled that aspect of things better.
@@kaneda7368 Yeah. Silent protagonists work a lot better IMO when they are actually mute and not just "you don't get to see/hear their dialogue because you're just supposed to make it up." For instance, Otus from Owlboy is a silent protagonist not for the player to make up his dialogue, but because he is actually mute and incapable of talking.
When I first played this file, I was scared that killing Akira was the only way to stop Noah. Then when I saw multiple play throughs of people not killing Akira, I didn’t want to see what would happen and play it myself. Then I replayed all of file 11 to get the other ending, only to see that I get the same ending no matter what.
Thano’s Farm I kind of felt that the ending where you choose to end it just felt a bit more concluding, with the Axe Legion (Max) giving you that sad little nod telling you that you know what needs to be done.
Noah Core battle was so trippy. I literally had to think back on my day and make sure i hadn’t drank or smoked anything. and nope sober as a goat. im sure i could have beaten it faster but i just didn’t want to lol say what you will about the “weak plot” but the gameplay and art style and ost of this game is one the absolute best of this generation of games for me. this right here is why i spend money on games. a great experience.
It didn't follow her will, they have a will of their own, and it had been shown several times, as well as in the post credits and files it talks about them making actual bonds with and caring/worrying about their users, my guess is that her Arrow Legion cared enough for her to end her. Also the Axe Legion did it with you because some part of their dad is alive inside the Axe legion and therefore it was like father and sibling taking out a member of their family.
I think Max is still alive, when we re-encounter the Axe Legion it has the chain and collar around it's neck, that means Max was able to recapture it, but for whatever reason he let it go.
This game looks fun but come on, I can't be the only one who was expecting the anime Jim Gordon to be the plot twist villain. Also, does anything change if you decide to kill her?
I'm kinda disappointed you don't get to fight Yoseph when he merges with Noah's core. Would've been interesting. Speaking of Yoseph, is it just me or does he sound a lot like Albert Wesker?
If I had to guess he'd start out invincible since you're not part of the astral plane, so you're stuck dealing with his attacks until Akira breaks his immortality, then you're free to beat the crap out of him. He can still fight back, but if you've ever played a Platinum game before, you'll be fine. Besides, save those revive batteries for -Kars- Noah Prime
Yikes! Is End of Evangelion nightmare, Kars from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, stuff from Metal Gear Rising, Persona all rolled into one blissful epic hellish and chaotic scenario! Holy &$@*!
And there's still plenty of story potential for a sequel! For instance, the Chimeras are still a threat and we don't know enough about the world outside the Ark.
I wish the story didnt kind of fall apart because this final boss kicks ass. It really felt like half the game was removed in the story. Like there was supposed to be an equally large segment for when the villain was in charge
Tip if you are watching this for strategies against this boss - if you hit start (even briefly) to bring up your scanner, it will add the boss' life bar to the UI so you can track how close you are.
Me who has played astral chain:*Telling everybody about the story of Noah’s Ark*. The priest wondering why the story is about an inter-dimensional chimeric alien and not a man and a boat to save animals (Insert distorted Kung Fu Panda meme template here)
Noah just stood there for me while i could deal damage once his health went down to half he dispeared, no where could be seen. now i have to start over the whole mission
I’m know I’m not the only one who noticed how Yoseph sounds like a vampire when he summons Noah! Also, S+ ranking the Noah core on Pt. Standard was quite a struggle. Had to use the Axe Legion equipped with the slow attacks to make it easier. Same thing with the “Person of Interest” case, too.
Well, considering if you chose to finish off Akira in her final moments then the axe legion will appear at your side, the will/soul of Max possibly still in the Legion. With this you send the Axe Legion/Max out to finish the job. The other choice is what you see here.
no, the avatar we dont chose (who is our twin sibling in the game) sacrifices themselves to hold the villain back , they tell our protag to kill both him/her and the villian while they are still able to hold the villian down
@@adamjohnson8305 I get what you mean, astral chain wasnt designed with that in mind, but he is thinking of possible ideas to make it a three part series or more.
DerBear again. I will repeat. That statement where they said there is a possibility for sequels was a mistranslation of something completely different.
@@adamjohnson8305 what did they mean then, because in everything I read including their corrections, they say hes tosses ideas for the possibility of making it a three part series or more.
Okay so i get all the way to the final boss Noah Prime. All its doing is teleporting around. Not attacking. So i bind it and beat the hell out of it until about 1/3 of its hp bar then the game freezes. Wtf!? Is anyone else experiencing this?
While I loved the game, am I the only one who was left confused after it was all done? There was not a single thing answered in the story. The longer the story went on for, the more questions that were raised ended up never getting answered.
Yoseph shall join Dickson from Xenoblade Chronicles in the hell specially made for manipulative b*stards. Also the Noah fight give so much Zanza vibes. And oh my god the legion system looks like the blades from Xenoblade Chronicles 2... that's too much coincidence to simply be coincidences
So true, the phase where Noah Core destroyed part of the floor was trippy as hell. I also paused a few times against Prime because, y'know...that was INTENSE
*looks at Yoseph* ...seriously? The Player stabbed you back and forth yet you feel nothing...but then when Akira stabs you from the back, you go "this can't be"?! Boooo... =3=
According to the database, Akira wasen't suppose to keep her/his free will after being absorbed by Noah which is why Yoseph was probably so caught off guard. Additionally just like Seiryu J said, since she was absorbed by Noah she was on the same plane of existence as him which is why she was able to interact with him.
Just finished the game, played on standard and got wiped out the first time. Barely managed to take it the second time, such an intense and epic battle.
I mean, yeah, she's your sister and you probably don't want to kill her. But...she has a practical god of death and destruction within her capable of destroying all of humanity, that just spent the last 30 minutes kicking my ass. So...
i don't make a signe true "game over" on this game, all first try in normal difficulty....but i 'm not gonna lie......the last boss.... really push me back to the wall...almost die, damn , the plot is simple ...but the fight was intense
@@marxgalacticambition7023 yeah and you can also chain jump away or dodge while wearing the arm legion, i didn't realize that when i first wrote that reply
