Great video. A fantastic structured method to decompose the tack. Now after I watched 54 full minutes, I understand that Astrix is a one-of-a-kind genius, also in a structured way ;)

Wow how did you get the original track file?? Also if you could do something like this with deep jungle mix...that would be awesome. Bro i aint kiddin if you continue to make videos like this i have to start learning ableton and buy your course or smt...😊
@Psiger
@Psiger Год назад
I rebuilt the track but what you see is mostly empty placeholders. The course mate is always a good idea even if you are not using Ableton we had many guys who did large improvement in their music 😉🔥🎶

The standard rising dust bass is also a square combined with a saw wave. They showed it at an artisan workshop held in Israel about two years ago.

Amazing video dude , couple days a was in a rave here in Brazil (Boombay) and I could hear Astrix and Captain Hook versions of Universe on their set, both really different even if the build ups are kind of the same and both amazing in their style, but Astrix has something different, watching your video I could understand a bit why

Great video man. That was nice input. I’m new to all that psy-techno stuff and that helped me on my way learning how to get that into my metal sound haha. I think the facecam was a littlebit too big on the screen, just my taste. But you got my sub bro ❤

Astrix's tracks are usually analysed because they are masterpieces, not to find out if ;) THE guy in the scene, decades experience in making music... ;) In my imagination I see guys like Astrix (for me even up there head o. t. table), Freedom Fighters, Outsiders, Electric U, Tristan...just to name a few of the old masters.

i think this is the best analize of astrix tracks , and i want to ask you what do you think? why every sound match to next sound ? is he put everything into loop and make sure that many "asks and answers" sound similar and just replacing them ?
@Psiger
@Psiger 7 месяцев назад
I guess one big thing is the sound selection in general, to use sounds which work with each other. I haven't checked it out as its a while ago but maintaining certain rhythmic positions can also help to make a track more consistent.

nice video Andy. Have you ever considered to make a video trying to redo the track?
@Psiger
@Psiger Год назад
Would be very interesting but I think it would just sound not good. Even if I would get to a quality level of Astrix (which I'm sure I wouldn't 🤣) then it would still sound off as the brain has some expectations. But I know a guy who I think redie acid rain or at least some parts and it was good but also less than the original. But he doesn't do RU-vid, it's a guy I do collaborations with.

@@Psiger yeah I agree. I mean just for education purposes. Not really related to the final sound, but like taking chance to show some different sound design and mixing techniques. Of course is super challenging, but I know you are not the guy running away from them XD

@yhoda145
@yhoda145 Год назад
yeah it is long, i have 3 tracks 11+ it just happens that way sometimes, if i go the structured way i"m usually around 7-8 but when i go the organic way, which is to start from the intro with no plans whats so ever and just allow the song to make itself (sort of) they tend to be longer. if i'm going the structured way i just make a bunch of loops then arrange into a song once composed. I reckon Astrix took the organic way over structure plus the journey itself suggests that. The only prob with this for me is its a pain in the arse to cut up to put into my set cos nothing quite fits esp if some loops have different length bars. I don't Dj either i use a akai apk mini 8X8 button pad and slice my song into sections.
@Psiger
@Psiger Год назад
Interesting with the Akai. Do you extract stems or do you have the tracks cut up into the segments and then you play them in diff order?

lm not really experienced in hobby producing, at least it slowly feels like making music and to trial an error until I ... The organic way was what felt my right from day 1 (started 2018, knowledge absolutely nothing) I cant even tell why I didn't want to do the analyse, track autopsy thing, even knowing it would be much more effective and progress faster. People are always laughing, when Im telling them that I cant tell them more about the project and what the final result might be...than 1kick 3basses 140-145bpm... thats it I am trying. Guess I fell in love with the feeling, after hours of working on single channels, implementing new instruments or effects and doin the first rough adjustments, to be able to play the project as a whole the first time since a while, intention is looking for mismatches, mistakes, issues in the arrangement - business as usual - but sometimes there are unexpected magic moments, discovering amazing elements / moments in the track you definitely didn't want to built, without digging into what happened, not being able to rebuilt or explain roughly how to get there... Its amazing feeling, listening to your own creation after working on it sometimes half a day or more, and then listening being positively stunned just like someone who haven't heard it before 🤣 But I also experienced the opposite, you've been working way too long yesterday because you're close to finish the best piece of music you've ever made, you absolutely love it. Next day in the morning, you cant wait to start the daw and show your partner proud what a unexpected jewel you ve been able to create - that the music starts, you are wondering ... wrong file, for sure, sounds like crap and you are almost not even able to recognise your work... I lost not only track like this in the beginning, weeks of work destroyed, not idea what happened
@yhoda145
@yhoda145 Год назад
44:45 i think its the same synth but duplicated onto another track, i do this a lot like a lot, i tend to keep the osc's low hardly above 2 and just open another track if i want to change the patch with more refinery instead just using more osc's and loose the refinery adjustments to the patch like 2 separate patched synths would give me
@Psiger
@Psiger Год назад
Interesting observation I will check it out once I'm back home. But he did it earlier also with the strings so makes perfect sense. I also do that sometimes I usually put them in racks and automate them with the volume on/off besides they get really different. I guess both works well depending on the workflow.
@yhoda145

@Psiger
@Psiger Год назад
It's actually fairly easy to do this. You just need to play section by section and focus on one particular sound e.g a certain drum. The trick is not to get lost and follow each sound individually like our monkey mind wants to do. Kind of meditation. I will share it in my member's discord next week ;-) but tbh it's good practice to redo it, it's not wasted time. Anyway, there is just empty midi, but I upload a tutorial next week on how to get the notes of melodies ;-)

Odd I think.. don't even find this track particularly exciting. Mellow off-beat style. Would have thought bangers of his like Sapana or Deep jungle walk would be far more popular than this one.
@Psiger
@Psiger Год назад
I also thought about why it had that massive success. I guess it's a mixture of various things, the simplicity, it's a bit diff from what people hear usually in the scene and it has that main vocal element while our music is most of the time very technical. But that's just my guesses
