Two of my favourite issues, and an excellent introduction to what makes this comic so special. The one I would highlight along this two is Safeguards, #4 - the story of Marta, an "ordinary" civilian who commutes from Shadow Hill to Downtown. The gorgeous Alex Ross cover shows Winged Victory triumphant and Marta riding the bus. The most important thing to know about Astro City is that it's incredibly good and doesn't ask anything of you but that you read one issue and enjoy that story. It gets deeper and richer as you dive in, but remains tightly controlled as a series of books owned by its creators.
While an adaptation could be great, the series is a perfect use of comic books as a medium. You will not find a better version of Astro City than the one that already exists.
