We received an alert that Astros battery was at 1% and cannot return to the charger. We found Astro in his usual hang out spot and battery was dead. Placed on charger and it attempted to boot up, but died again. Battery was at 0%
That’s great that they are sending you both. I’ve seen in some facebook posts that people are saying Amazon isn’t doing batteries and chargers to be sent out separately. So this is very good news. Just sorry yours had to die to find this out.
Yes, I too had read the horror stories about no chargers available, you'll need to buy a new Astro. As I was starting the chat on the Astro App i asked my wife if they say there's nothing, we can do are we getting another? She said... YEAH, without hesitation. The person that started the chat soon transferred me to someone more experienced in the electronic department and Brandon was awesome. The battery and charger will be here Thursday, so i will make a video of checking the charger and replacing the battery.
Mine did that too. The 4.8 v is correct, it uses that small voltage to sense Astro, then bumps it up to 16.4 v to charge. When mine acted up it was on the charger & shut off. Turned him on & showed 1%. I tried all I could think of to get him to take A charge, & nothing helped, so I gave up for the time being just let it sit on charger. 18 hours latter I pressed the power button just to see if it still had 1% or if fully dead, & it poowered up & showed 97%. So it had just started charging less than 1 hour before. Let it finish charging & it's been working fine since. That was Jan. 15 Knock on wood. I have A kill-o-watt meter that his charger is plugged into. Teses are the specs I've come up with. Battery pack Part # 58-000-125 Astro's Charging States 14.4v 8 18650's = 4 in sieries X 2 in parrilal = 14.8v 4300 Mah 61.92 Wh Limited Charge Voltage 16.4 v @ 4.20 Amp Kill-O- Watt readings Charging 0.65 Amps 78 Watts Full Charge 0.25 Amps 30 Watts Off Charger 0.00 Amps 00 Watts Battery is just under his lift out bin, 3 screws clearly marked. EZ- PEZY.
Thank you for all the data on the charging stats. Yes, i looked last night and the battery looks pretty straight forward to remove and change. I'll let you know how it all turns out. Just odd that with no warning the battery died. I could see if Astro would be off the charger for 10-15 mins and then return to the charger, but from doing great to 0% is troubling, but I guess cars do that to anymore.
Odd, last night, just after I posted to you. I summoned Astro & he was dead on the charger again & I saw a message on my phone. " can't return to charger" but it was on charger. When I powered it back on, it came to life & was charging again. This morning is like he never had A problem. Life goes on, till someone throws A pipe wrench at ya! LOL@@gnjadventures
4.8v seems a bit low for a charger, can you pull the battery pack and see what voltage it is ?. I would have thought 12v would be more in line with the power required to move him about. If it is a 12v battery then whilst its out stick it on your car charger to see if you can boost it for an hour or so then if you put it back in and he works you know its the charger thats faulty. If you decide to wait for Amazon to send you a battery and a charger then try him on the new charger first (and also check the new chargers voltage so you know for the future) If he takes a charge happy days…although I would still swap out the battery then he will be like new, return the used parts and everyone will be happy !.
