A book that I would recommend concerning the esoteric science of Astronomy is a book by Shaykh Ahmad al-Alawi (born 1869) titled Miftah Al-Shuhud Fi Mazahir Al-Wujud (Key to Contemplation in the Appearances of Creation), although there isn't an English version yet. A French version is titled Cle de la contemplation.

It is believed that Murad III the sultan of the Othman empire built the largest observatory in the medieval time in 1577. He wanted this observatory to rival the one built in Samarkand in the beginning of the 15th century. This was at a time when Europe had no idea what real astronomy is. When the observatory was completed, a comet appeared in the sky and Murad III asked the scientists working in the observatory to tell him what they can make of this comet. Apparently the people of that time still didn’t know the difference between Astrology and Astronomy. The scientists didn’t know what to answer the sultan and replied to him that the Ottoman Empire is going to be prosperous and that they will invade Persia. Few months later, a plague hit the Ottoman Empire and many people died. The sultan was so furious about their prognostication and ordered the demolition of the observatory and the end of the astronomical discoveries in the Muslim world. In the mean time, the construction of another observatory in Denmark was completed which the scientist Kepler used to make important discoveries and a century later it helped Newton to come up with his universal law of gravity which set the stage centuries later for the start of the Industrial Age and the scientific revolution in the west. The bottom line is that it only requires one authoritarian closed minded decision to change the course of history and decide the fate of a nation.

It's really curious to know how much contemporary astrology has become different from ancient astrology, so I'm glad this is going to be a collaboration, even more so, comparing Middle East and West. Now when one considers the similarities between traditions, it's easy to assume they had a common origin. Yet it's hard to imagine how 'original' astrology could combine elements from European, Indian, Arabic and Chinese astrology O_o

@@naiman4535 The Indians/Hindus have a KILLER astrological system. Extremely sophistical, older & arguably more accurate than the current Western/Tropical astrology we have today. The Greeks are awesome! But there are older & even more complex calculations for astrology than those birthed in western culture- Chinese astrology, Egyptian astrology & Vedic astrology (Jyotishya) are all wonderful non-western examples. I’ve learned so much from other cultures, so I just want to shout them out as well!
@naiman4535
@naiman4535 2 года назад
@@KayxzTarot The ancient Greeks ARE Western culture - they were the root of it. When you talk about Hindu Vedic Astrology being more accurate, you are probably referring to their use of the stellar / night sky based sidereal zodiac, which is based on the fixed stars and constellations, versus the solar based tropical zodiac of Western Astrology. Well, the ancient Greeks used the tropical zodiac, and even though many have considered that a mistake they made way back in the Hellenistic era, when the two zodiacs were still basically in sync, Steven Schmidt, the founder of Project Hindsight, and a key translator of the old Greek texts, says that they were fully aware of the two zodiacs, and consciously chose the tropical. There are astrologers who use both the sidereal as well as the tropical zodiacs; they say that the sidereal zodiac is better for event prediction, whereas the solar based tropical zodiac is better for the delineation of the individual soul and Spirit - which the Sun is our greatest celestial symbol of. With the sidereal zodiac being more lunar / stellar / night sky based, it is a more Yin frame of reference, whereas the solar based tropical zodiac is a more Yang frame of reference.

But our prophet (ﷺ) warned about the one-eyed antichrist (dajjal) who will be blind in right eye. And this Left-eyed antichrist will also claim to be the beggten son of God or God and savior for each sects of religions to deceive them. I always thought it was funny how astrology (roughly the "logic of the stars") took the name that modern astronomy would have liked to apply to itself, but because that naming convention was already so thoroughly entrenched, they had to settle for the "naming of stars".

At it's core, I think all monotheistic religions doesn't encourage Astrology because it is more divisive than it is uniting. it's almost like both evil and good prayers wished upon a person born in a certain birthdate that successfully manages to be in all corners of life even how you should career. The doctrine it provides is as dangerous if not more dangerous than forms of religious extremism. It's a label, a judgement wished upon someone with all it's good and bad labels

Re: ~3:15 All schools of thought within Islam, as far as I know, agree that certain religious obligations require precise calculations which rely on the heavenly bodies' positions and timing (like the start/end of Ramadan, identifying the qibla, etc.). So I find it ironic that certain schools would refuse to look more deeply into the movements and meanings of heavenly bodies (going beyond pragmatic purposes.) Might not one want to investigate why these specific positions of planets and stars mark such and such ritual? The way I see it, agreeing that all exists and persists through God's will-including oneself, other beings, and all else-implies an interconnectedness between and significance to every utterance in existence. Observing our relationship to surrounding celestial bodies is not so different from observing our relationship to our earthly ecosystems. Though I certainly would be weary of people claiming to have more insight than they might actually have.

What I believe as a muslim is that we humans know too little. There are greater complexities to this universe than we can ever even imagine to comprehend. And the lengths that we HAVE reached, i.e. through astrology and other studies, are not meant to make us want to indulge our curiosities further. What I have been told always, as a muslim, is that we must not go into the sphere of knowledge so deeply that it takes us away from God. Because being close to God, to us, is the goal at the end of the day. Not to say that 'Knowledge' is a bad thing. Thats certainly not the case. The first word in the Quran translates to 'READ'. What I am saying is that even though there are powers in these celestial bodies, we should not go to them for help or study them to the degree that it takes us away from God. To the extent that instead of asking God for help, we wholeheartedly rely on these celestial bodies. Yes we can study and observe them. But we must be wary of the fact that we're humans and we get easily enchanted by such intriguing topics. We love to "see" and "experience" miracles rather than have patience and resolute that God does not need to show us miracles every day for us to believe in him. Thats why going deeper into astrology is probably a bad thing for muslims. It holds the possibility of taking us away from worshipping God, and relying on these bodies to fulfill our need for experiencing miracles. Allah swt knows best, and He knows what is beneficial for us and what is not. Moreover, if muslims studied astrology to the extent that the west has done, it would have terrible implications for the muslim world. I personally believe that humans are a curious species that always look for reason and logic behind things they don't understand. To such a degree that when we do understand it to our best capability, its still not enough. The real truth is that we'll never know the full-picture. Only God knows that. So why not just rely on Him, who actually made those celestial bodies. Relying on Him will give us greater power than relying on astrology. Anyways, hope that made sense! Have a great day/evening :)

The concept of Stellar rays / radiation is the same in African Sciences (namely the Ifa and buKongo faiths which form the basis of most African and Diaspora belief systems). I recently distributed wealth to friends and subscribers by harnessing the Urids meteor shower (17 - 22 December) which coincided with the Summer Solstice (22 December) in the southern hemisphere. This was after charging the written names of the individuals under several moon cycles and focusing the intent to flow to them. People will say it's "magic" but there really is no such thing. When you understand how everything is connected and how the elements, human vibration and natural vibration influence it, you understand how to make the energy of the Universe work to your will. Very interesting. The theories of astrology that I am more familiar with, in Indian astrology, are phrased in terms of the subtle gravity of celestial bodies, gravity operating on the astral plane more than the physical plane. In Jyotiṣa, the planets are “grahas” or seizers, forces which can grab ahold of and influence earth-dwelling consciousnesses, e.g. by causing particular karmic patterns to surface.

These are facinating videos, one and all...I read an English translation of Parashara, ancient Indian astrologer; he suggested planets (grahas in Sanskrit, meaning "gripper") are not directing human affairs, but harbingers... he compared to palmistry, planetary positions in time are like lines on your hand, predictive of what fate holds- but lines aren't causes. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi explained Vedic Jyotish like reading one's DNA, genome- proteins aren't direct causation, more correlation w/ predictive value. He ascribed to time cycles of human knowledge, yugas, and suggested Jyotish practiced in 20th c (and 21st) is relatively useless, incorrect since Sanskrit writing are only descriptions oral traditions of knowledge, with out the true prescriptive power of chanted Vedic knowledge... anyway, many thanks!!!

Have any scholars looked deeply into how close Al-Kindi was to discovering radiation? Because the stars legitimately do emit radiation toward Earth, and life on Earth does seem to be pretty dependent on that radiation for survival (primarily within the visible and UV frequency bands), but I'm not so sure about how the positions of the stars relative to Earth would affect the overall content of our atmosphere's background radiation. It seems plausible, from a layman's perspective. that fluctuations in that background radiation might have significant effects on human life, but I've never really encountered any research that addresses that possibility.

@@deadcakesandpanlifts2019 lol well we do have an awful lot of weird notions in our media about radiation being useful in battle, but I kinda doubt myself that he was actually manipulating it. I'm more of the opinion that, in seeking an explanation for previously existing sets of behaviors among his peers (magical behaviors specifically), he may have arrived at a basic theory of radiation despite fairly drastic misconceptions about its role in human affairs. His observational data, at the very least, would probably have proven useful to future scientific thinkers examining the nature of these "rays".

The Education of the Prophet Idris ⚠️ Idris (peace be upon him) is said to have spoken seventy-two languages, which he used to communicate with the people to whom he was sent. He is also said to have learned and taught the sciences to his people, and he was wisdom and know knowledge of the STARS. God Almighty granted him an understanding of the secrets of the STARS and their LOCATIONS and taught him ASTRONOMY, mathematics, the number of years, and methods of calculation. Idris was also the first to understand the science of medicine, to warn of the approaching flood, and to draw up the rules for urbanizing cities...

From what I’ve read over the years about Islamic scientific advancements, I’ve come to realize that most of the scientist were of Iranian descent. To my surprise most of the Hadith collectors like Bukhari were also Iranian. Also, algebra was by an Iranian. The man who mastered Arabic language and set its rules was also Iranian.

A lot of them were Persian/Iranian, absolutely. But I see many people overemphasizing this point. There were also many other scholars and scientist of varying ethnic origin. As this video shows, one of the most formative and important early figures were al-Kindi, who was arab. The great acheivements of Iranian scholars should definitely be celebrated, but I don't see the point in obsessing over ethnicity? Especially when we are dealing with a hugely multicultural tradition with so many scholars from other regions as well.

@@LetsTalkReligion Yes they saw being muslim as their priority rather than seeing races. Also even before Islam, Semitics and Persians always loved to live with each other. Sassanid capital was in Iraq. Sassanids had many Arab wives and they used to send their sons to live with Arabs to become warrior king. That's why many Sassanid prince knew Arabic. Infact they all were look alikes, brown people unlike Romans who were whitish

Astrology came to Islam from Persian Zoroastrian religion. The story of the three wise man in Jesus's birth came from Persia. When Muslim invaded Persia every thing were destroyed and every sciences remained in the name of Islam. In fact most of initial Islamic writers and scholars were Persian born. So, astrology was existed before Islam.

Relax. He's used the made-up word "Islamicate" in the video's title so you don't need to feel that he's judging all Muslims. It includes others (non-Muslims) who live in an Islamic-dominated culture and who are carrying out these 'haram' practices.
