Peterson "what would you call it? ... Research Literature.." he does no research. It's all based on his personal interpretation. Egocentric. Narcissistic. Pompous. Exhausting....

Peterson is not a debater, he is a preacher. He sounds smart when he is up there giving a lecture to an audience, but he seems to get crushed in debate every time, simply blathering intellectual word salad.

Peterson talks about the Judaeo-Christian "substrate" of democracy but ignores the Greco-Roman origins of democracy. I suppose that is how he wants to spin it.

Sam did a TED talk in 20andsomething where he pointed out that an Islamic father would rather kill his raped daughter that suffer the so called ignominy of such an occurrence. The situation of all points of poetic as Peterson describes it shows clearly why the rational mind must act critically in self and not in culture.

This is why debate is so important. It exposes bluffers like Peterson who’s a classic example of masking bullsh1t as intellectual thinking.

No Jordan no. Astrology -> astronomy - that’s a reasonable step sure Alchemy -> chemistry- same. Reasonable step. Which side of the equation is religion on? Either it’s the precursor to something which means it has to change , which it won’t do. Or It’s on the result side of the equation which means it came from fictional stories which were just made up. Which certainly seems to be the case. But he just basically explained that religion is just fiction. And if it is the result side then is that it? It won’t morph again and it’s the way it is and that’s it. With the astrology and chemistry examples. Things moved to testable realms. Religion has just stayed with the fiction side of things

Watching this video, Peterson's brain was frying while Sam Harris was making his point. he was having a very difficult time trying to comprehend what Sam Harris was saying. and his answer reflects that. Peterson like many people, has a difficult time tying distinguish fantasy form reality.

The problem with JBPs argument here is that even if you grant that fanciful and creative ideas lead way to rational approaches, with the examples of astrology and alchemy, no astronomer or psychologist or chemist today advocates for more astrology and alchemy in our schools as a valuable learning tool for astronomy, psychology or chemistry. In fact, to follow the analogy, we would have alchemists and astrologers today demanding special preference or at the very least be taught equal to chemistry, astronomy, and psychology in our education system.

Peterson's defence of astrology is far more convincing than religion because he describes astrology as it is, rather than using slippery vague terms.

So astrology is good because later people did astronomy? First, the two are corollary, not causal. People didn't discover the usefulness of astronomy because earlier humans believed the in space magic. Both astrology and astronomy are still practiced today. Astronomy - as useful as it can be, did not eradicate belief in magic.Peterson is wrong to say astrology led to astronomy.

Peterson's continuing use of so many words to say so little clearly indicates a desperation on his part to try to stay relevant in the face of critical thinking that clearly opposes (and invalidates) his position. Mr. Peterson, please do the world a favor and spend more time with your mouth closed.

Peterson is exceptional at playing with words and making a good salad but on the intellectual front, he is only average. The combination of legitimacy gained by wordplay and claim of intellect in its absent is quite annoying.

When did this channel turn from a philosophy channel into an anti JP channel? Feel free to criticise him but isn't there far more interesting stuff out there than " vs Peterson"? I used to like this channel for providing thought provoking discussions but now it's just sensationalism, it's really lost its charm and it's sad.

Astrology was never a religion nor a doctrine. It's simply a tool that has to be integrated with other logics and systems, it's just a guidance for better understanding of human psyhology and its cyclical nature

I have never seen my fate in the stars/heavens. But sure as hell i see it peoples bevavior and actions.
