Very informative video Glenn! Not only does this help with an RC 6 or 8, but with the aid of that bracket and the correct 3D printed part, it should help anyone be able to install a ZWO EAF on just about any scope.
I used these instructions for my GSO Linear Bearing focuser on my GSO Newtonian and they worked like a charm. I didn't have the 3D printed part, but I made my own washer out of the bottom portion of a cheap, non-retractable bic pen - the part that holds the ink stalk into the outer barrel of the pen. Its diameter is perfect for the focuser tension set screw and the slight flare of it worked perfectly. THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO!
Nicely explained Glen. I’ve just bought the ZWO EAF, got to fit it to the skywatcher esprit 100. I hear that it isn’t straight forward, so I’ve bought the same adapter bracket as you! I hope mine goes as well as yours mate!
Just take your time with it. I have 2 other videos fitting one to a william optics Z61 and one to a Sky watcher 130pds, they might help also. The Z61 also has a bit of nina on connecting to it and setting the backlash
Not sure. I have fitted it to 3 types of scope now. There are 3 videos on my channel. I am sure it can be adapted to fit though. I have not been beaten yet
@@Astrobloke Hi I'll answer on Sulalman's behalf. Both the locking screw and the tension screw are on the bottom and there is no recess. Room to Fit an EF is limited if non existant. I have set up a pulley system on mine using a method similar to the avalon focuser. It worked well until I added an OAG. Slippage meant I had to tighten the adjustment to the point where the belt struggles to overcome the friction.
@@TheSnoopstar99 I have so far been lucky to always be able to adapt the ZWO EAF to all the scopes I have used it on and not had those problems. I wounder if the pegasus focus cube or the sesto senso would work better,
@@TheSnoopstar99 i'm having same problem, am thinking about taking tube apart and drilling to attach a bracket to hold focuser, or a clamp to fit around focus tube ! :/
Seems that instead of the 3D printed plastic plate, one could use some nylon washers to fill the gap between the mounting plate and the focuser in case one has no access to getting a plate 3D printed.
Hi. I do not anymore. I sold it to help fund buying my CT10. I had an RC8 by Altair astro. They are excellent scopes and are great for galaxy season. What RC scope are you looking to get?
@@Astrobloke Is considering one of the many GSO RC6’s, after seeing Astroaddict collimate his small Omegon, and the results he was getting. I could then have a dedicated OSC setup with the RC and my old Nikon D5300 for galaxies and small DSO’s, and narrowband/LRGB mono setup on my new William Optics GT81IV for bigger structures.
