Alex Verdugo's homer last night on the first pitch against the Red Sox in Fenway Park gave me immediate flashbacks to Jasson Dominguez hitting his 1st career homer on the first pitch in his MLB Debut against Justin Verlander, just so much pressure off of their shoulders with one swing of the bat
It’s sad when the good umpires like Pat Hoberg go unrecognized, while the bad ones are targeted by all of baseball. I wish we would have appreciated this man more before the allegations, because he was truly one of the best (Perfect game in the WS)
As much as I love the nostalgia of the older baseball fields can’t help but feel bad for the Cubs. They’re playing against another team themselves and nature lol Oakland A’s fan since 1988.💪🏼
In the Mariners/Texas game, he was not called out because there was no interference. If the pitcher would have thrown the ball down the line and threw it over or hit the runner, then he would have been out on interference. The rule change was made so that runners could run on the left side of the foul line in the dirt. The second part adding 3 feet to the right is only for avoiding a tag. It used to be that if you ran on the dirt on the fair side of the line, and you were hit or caused the player receiving the ball to not have a clean catch based on where the ball was thrown, it would be interference. If you look at where the ball was thrown in this case, the first baseman had a clear line to catch the ball and was not interfered with. This was also confirmed by an umpire that was on the broadcast. Also I get that I am a Mariners fan, but this has always been the rule, they just gave the runners the dirt. Again, because he was on the grass it does not make it an automatic out. The pitcher should have thrown the ball over the runner or at him and he would have been out. Instead he threw a clean throw to first that was easily catchable, as the video shows, and was not interfered with.
A ton of newer names in the cy young races this year! My Royals Cole Ragans has the talent to but it's still early. Only thing with all of the younger candidates is that its a marathon not a spring so can they keep it up? Thats my question

I’m a Braves fan but always rooted for the Royals and Tigers in the AL idk why, guess cause they weren’t much good, I liked George Brett idk. Anyways, I believe the Royals will be a perennial playoff team and Bobby Witt Jr. will win an MVP or two!
Just because you're performance doesn't appear like you're betting on baseball. Doesn't necessarily mean you didn't bet on baseball. If I worked all day having to be an expert at baseball, why would I not bet on that subject? Wouldn't I want to bet on the sport that I'm considered to be an expert at? Maybe even have inside knowledge about who would or wouldn't be in a lineup etc. this seems like a really strong argument for robot umps.
@@mike-0451 maybe. Lots of people engage in insider trading though in other professions. Why would we just dismiss the possibility that he bet on baseball because he's a good umpire? If you do something you're not supposed to there are often consequences. That doesn't mean people don't ever do the things they're not supposed to.
As a Braves fan naturally I hate the Dodgers but kinda a conundrum cause I will always root for Freddie unless playing my Braves, he is just getting better with age😊. Soooo, the baseball umpire was betting on other sports in his free time? Why do we care?!? Why was he disciplined?!? If he was betting on baseball games he didn’t umpire, fine, discipline. If he bet on baseball games he did umpire, fire him. He bets on football, who cares?!?
