When he ran off 4Ks in a row, I was like Awww, yeah, he's back! He was amazing all season until he tweaked his calf late in the season. His mechanics/timing have been slightly off... but those 4Ks in a row were classic Verlander. It's just a shame that his pitch count was wrecked already and that was his finally appearance this year.. AND he's most likely to win the Cy Young Award this year.
I wouldn't exactly say dominated. He did have 4 walks and had runners on all night, which led to him being out after only 5 innings. But he got the job done. Overall a solid outing and good for JV. Adds one more item to his HOF resume 👍
4 hits, 6k’s (nearly half of the outs recorded for the 5 innings, 1 run allowed (1st batter of the game). I would say that’s pretty dominant. As for the walks 2 we’re to Harper. Which was the game plan. Verlander wanted him to swing at his pitches and/or walk and deal with castellanos.
@@takingbacklivess 6 ks isn't a lot. It's not like he was making them look foolish. Philly drove his pitch count up with consistently tough at bats. Again, that's why he was out after 5. It's really tough to have a "dominant" outing with that short of an outing, unless he leaves due to injury, which obviously wasn't the case. It was a gritty outing, but i don't think JV himself would call it dominant. Guess we just have a different definition of the word
It was great to see Verlander get a WS win. Not a big fan of the Astros but he deserved it. He has pitched so well his career and unfortunately he never won a WS. Congratulations Verlander!!!
YES!!! Congrats JV, This is his 6th World Series, 5th he has played in and he finally won a World Series game, Let’s Go Astros!!! He needs to win the Cy Young Award
If Verlander becomes a free agent then best to let him go and go with Valdez, Javier, Garcia, Urquidy and McCullers as your starting rotation. And use the money saved on keeping Bradly and extending Tucker before he starts asking for too much.
I'm a bit confused on something, hopefully someone can explain this to me. Right around 1:13 when Jean Segura hits, Jeremy Pena catches the ball. Is that not an out? Why did the play prolong where Jeremy had to throw the ball to first base?
JV Is just part of the team . JV isn't the best in the world but he's part of the team. Win or lose like with any athletes who's on any team. One thing which is good he have some jewelry and a family that loves him. That's all a man can ask for. Plus happiness 🎉 🍾 🎊 🍻⚾ 🏆 🍻

Oh yeah, it’s JV’s fault that the Tigers scored 11 runs in 5 games in 06, and 6 runs in 4 games in 2012. Totally, the blame falls entirely on him😂 They broke my heart too, but I don’t blame one guy for a team’s collective failure. The Tigers traded JV while he still had trade value to assist in a needed rebuild. The Tigers whiffed on the prospects, but that’s not JV’s fault.

I would love to see a camera trained on every Astros pitcher and every pitcher in every game next season. We would soon see how dominating they actually are. MLB is breaking baseball by turning their heads on issues like, well, we all know and don’t speak of it or speak and are ignored.
