Your videos are the best space documentaries ever produced. You have rekindled my interest in space. Your voice/narration is top notch. As a side note, I remember watching men walk on the moon on our black and white television as a child.

Your answers about sci-fi movies and overly stretchy and dramatic documentaries are so darn relatable haha! Congratulations once again on 100k subscribers, I've seen hundreds of channels that delve into astronomy and most of them are clickbaity and talk about facts that are only unknown to a layman, or there are those that do talk about more obscure facts but with so little detail and so much oversimplification that it feels like babying. Astrum however is neither of those; it gets straight to the point, is up to date with the latest findings in astronomy, and man your voice is relaxing! So I say you deserve that 100k and a 100k more! Love from Algeria!

Thank you so much for creating this channel Alex. I discovered your channel purely by accident searching for a documentary on Mars and immediately subscribed. Astrum is presented in a professional, informative and entertaining way and would always be my go-to channel for Astrology related matters. As it is improbable I'll ever physically go to space myself your videos help just that extra bit in making me feel like I've already been there.

Alex- how very refreshing to actually see the face behind Astrum! Truth be told, I had thought of you as an older man, maybe my age, simply because you have a very mature outlook and presentation which is, unfortunately, not too common these days! I'm 62 years old, and grew up at the very beginning of space exploration. It's very exciting to me that I may very well be one of the privileged few to witness both the first men on the moon, and the first on Mars! I mentioned to you once before that I am going through a bit of financial difficulty at the moment, but I will happily donate to your Patreon account once that is resolved. Please continue to bring us these wonderful videos!

You really nailed it when you said that documentaries are full of needless drama, hyperbole and repetition (the latter often because they are constructed around ad breaks)so feel it necessary to constantly recap. I love how you explain everything in your narration whilst at the same time treating your viewers with having sufficient intelligence to understand the information. You are my favourite You-tuber. I am curious about your accent though but haven’t finished the Q&A yet to find out if you were asked that question. And big congrats on 100,000 subscribers. A great milestone. I don't watch short films, as a rule, and look for > 45min, that I can sink my teeth into and get more info than a soundbite. Glad I gave yours a chance plus they aren't the clickbait most are. I see you haven't gone to the 1min vids yet and am glad. Your shorter ones tend to often move along too quickly, though. Space is one thing I prefer to linger on and muse over, as many things are so mindblowing. But really really really enjoying your channel! TYSM!

You're channel is the perfect substitute for those documentaries you mentioned. You make about a 20min video that is SUPER focused on a certain planet, moon or a spacecraft. Its super informative and you find some incredible images. I'm huge in space and i have never seen some of these pictures! You really find the gems. I think I saw you mention somewhere that you plan on continuing the "Moons" series. That would be awesome! I've seen you do quite a few in the past but doing videos around certain probes( where they've gone and what they've seen) is great and I'd love to see more! I know that solar probe just recently launched, once they get some data, that'd be a great one! Also just a note. I'm an astrophysics major and the size of the universe is a fascinating topic. It is almost certainly one of two things. Based on measurements and calculations, the univerae is eaither infinite or really REALLY big. A good way to put it is that, standing on the Earth, it looks flat. But obviously it is a giant ball, we just can't see it. There's a type of curvature in the universe that hints at its shape and size. From our best measurements its flat which means its infinite. But the other possibility is that it is very big and as such it only SEEMS flat. With better measurements we could continue to look but there will always be a margin of error. Just a 0.0000000000000000001 error on the curvature means that there is still that possibility that the curviture is actually there, just too small too small to detect. Thus, if the curvature is too small to measure, the universe could be RIDICULOUSLY big but not infinite. The closer to 0 curvature it gets, it actually approaches infinity (since "flat" in this case means infinite). However, another issue with this curvature is that there are many things it could mean. A "saddle" shaped, plane universe would be infinite and curved. That's just one example of many shapes which could be curved and only some are "spheres" in the sense that it is finite. Btw, there are other shapes it could be where its finite but physical size would be different because of the shape, ie a donut/ toroid, or possibly higher dimensional shapes. So the curvature can give us a lower bond on the size but we can't say for sure what shape or size it is. The actual numbers: if its a "sphere", the lower bound is 50x the radius of the observable universe. Now because this is a 4th dimensional "sphere", there's no edge or center so the radius just allows you to get the sense of the volume. If its a donut, the size could be comparable to the size of our observable universe. This means that some of the galaxies we see are actually double images. We could possibly see the Milky Way even, but it'd be much younger and different looking. This is all pretty abstract stuff. Just thought you and some readers might find interesting!
@astrumspace
@astrumspace 6 лет назад
Wow that is pretty interesting! I've never been able to wrap my head around a donut universe. Surely if that was the case, it would be a loop in a fourth dimension or something, because it's not like the universe is contained within a donut? It is pretty abstract, but I find these theories fascinating!

Moved into a new apartment last night on Kagoshima, Japan. Began unpacking and stuck on the latest video of the Spirit Rover series. Went and rewatched the entire Opportunity Rover series as I unpacked. It turned what was to be an evening of utter frustration into an evening of pure relaxation. I originally moved to Japan 3 years ago when this channel was only at 100,000. It has been a constant companion for me in that time. It's an incredible testament to your work and quality that it's increased over 10 fold on 3 years. To give my own answer to which planet or moon I would visit; Mars would possibly be up there as I remember the launch of Spirit and Opportunity and followed them since I was 14 as they were launched. .. it's always held my imagination, and The Martian is one of my favourite sci-fi books. But, I think Pluto is the place I would visit. Pluto is just so far away and remote and was shrouded in mystery for years until the flyby by New Horizons in 2015. I waited for 9 years for those images after NH was launched. Pluto was far more beautiful than I had imagined it would be. It still holds so much mystery and wonder that I would love to visit and explore it.
