@ASU19992006 Well I am a piano major at Albany State.....And I had a FULL music scholarship to Alabama State!!!!! I've sat in your classes and looked at your caliber of students the music dept at Alabama State doesn't even come close to that of Albany State's and that's a fact!!!! Our level of musicianship is better, our students are more knowledgeable and we have NEVER had a single student to fail the teaching certification exam in Music Education! So I know what I'm talking about!!

@str8glockBOI Well that school in the hood has done a lot for Black America just as all HBCUs have. Our school is expanding and buying up land all around the ASU community. Most HBCUs are located near the hood ,including the AUC center in Atlanta where Morehouse, Spellman, and Clark are located.
@SS2K3 NASM is the National Association of Schools of Music and 2.7 is the bar the state of Alabama set for all of their schools so take that up with them I'm not from Alabama...
Alabama State is the real ASU established in 1869. When was Albany State established partner? Alabama State smoked Albany. And the Stingettes took the Passionettes to school! They were Stung ASU Style!

@jsnevels2 you are definantly wrong, 2 weeks after the fountain city botb i got high wit a trompet player from bama. this right here is a BAND ARGUMENT we aint got nothin personal against no other bands. and to answer your never ending questions: no albany ddnt get smaller, the trumpet player from bama told me there whole plan once the walked in the stadium, i play all instruments,i do go to albany(the real ASU), and no stillman ddnt come to the game that day.
to be perfectly honest the Real ASU battle between Bany and Bama is a no brainer, Albany State hands down, Bama need to watch out for Arizona State if anybody, they more ASU than them niggaz LoL
ASU has one of the best neck arrangements if not the best! and swac school do play loud, that doesnt take away from musicianship, only somebody from a slaw band would try to play that card, playing loud and keepin the characteristic tones of ur instrument takes ability! so to that music wizard fellow just fall back smh
@viperzay How in the hell would you know what Alabama State students do after undergrad. Our students go on to graduate schools too! I think it's pretty presumptious to think that on Albany State students go on to graduate school. And can't nobody mess with Alabama State's Neck!

Ok there really was not a battle. When it comes to "Neck", nobody plays is better than my alma mater, the ALABAMA STATE UNIVERSITY. Stingettes look classy & organized and Bama State wins hands down...they reppin for the SWAC (home of the best bands such as Alabama State, JSU, SU, TxSU, UAPB, PVAMU just to name a few)!!!
I dont see were state was sloppy at there new neck is just unique in its on way it has alot of diff. parts in it .... not to mention that albany state did not sound full at all.... not loud cuz how loud a band is and how full a band is...is two diff things plus albany trumpets cept on getting hammered by their lower brass sectoin. BUT!!!! both bands sounded pretty good but i would have to give it to BAMA state and i go to neither one of these colleges......yet.
@ASU19992006 To your first comment, Alabama State was NEVER my first choice USC was and due to family circumstances I did not go. And marching band does not reflect true musicianship.........And how about since Alabama State has such "superb" musicians just make sure they bring it at HBCU consortium next year.

@str8glockBOI Also, there have been several incidents where students from the AUC center have been harmed by people in the surrounding community in Atlanta. Not once have I ever heard of one person on ASU's campus being harmed by a member of the surrounding community.

@SS2K3 I'm not a youngster. The Modern Day Civil Rights Movement started in Mongtomery in December of 1955. Although King marched in Albany in 1962 and 1963, this was after Montgomery. In the annals of the civil rights struggle Albany had no signicant impact. That's why people remember Montgomery and not Albany. I was a honors history major in college, so come at that with somebody else who doesn't know any better. I'm through teaching class. Class dismissed!
Yeah state got the W here but the competition was sub-par so this doesn't really constitute a beatdown. Albany, Clark, MoB....??? I like to see my boys give the business to heavyweights. Still brought the HEAT though. Also, no disrespect to the other bands either.

@doughertycounty yeah im from athens, went to the high school rite down the street from UGA. now UGA red coat band and GA Tech even LSU ar some good bands too dnt get me rong, but marching bands are sapose to give the crowd a SHOW in the stands and on the field, thats why Show bands are so popular.
@str8glockBOI You are free because of Alabama State. The Montgomery Bus Boycott which started on the campus of ASU started the Modern Day Civil Rights Movement. Then all of the other HBCUs and black people in the South started to demonstrate. Read the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Women who started it, and you just might learn something that you didn't know.

Even though could not care less about this battle i must say that the "stingettes" however organized and cordinated they look reveal entierly too much of themselves in thier uniforms. Idk if its a alabama thing or what but they are more than half naked and that is not something they should have worn outside. There are children and husbands and fathers at these events. Someone should let them know that they are maiking people feel uncomfortable and some even disgusted.

@jsnevels2 nope albany ddnt get smaller cause the trmpt section doubled the tbne section got smaller btne section smaller horns got more dline got bigger certain woodwinds got smaller some got bigger and the tubas got smaller so the band stayed the same size. yes we played neck when miles came in cause we were ready for them this year. and you not believing me means nothin cause your a nobod, your not even in college. and the trumpet player use 2 go 2 Albany we do kno ppl from other bands, duh

LMAO @ The Stingettes being "TACKY". I never known it to happen. F.Y.I, as several people have stated, they were reinacting M.J's "Beat It. Don't get mad because the Dancing Cows, pardon, Divas have no sense of fashion. Everyone knows that if the competition were based solely on appearance, the Stingettes would win by default. Lisa would never allow them to be tacky. Just be thankful that they didn't do a wardrobe change. That would have really put these rachett fifty-cent pieces to shame.
