To be fair, when he did appear he always came off as competent and likable. He saved Shikamaru during the Chunin Exam, too. Add how much he cared for Team Ten and how much they cared for him, especially Shikamaru, and his death is painful.

u dont get it, any anime you are currently watching which contain emoitanal or dark moments becomes the most dark and emotinal anime because you are currently attached to it. it is a bias. a bias with out your control. you can not control it.

@@Khalid_Looby I mean yeah and no I get the whole psychological thing but it still makes relatively little sense considering that has never once affected the way I view it personally like I’m watching jjk season 2 and just watched nanami and nobara die and yuji flip tf out and start going off on mahito i started the show rather recently and am binging it im emotionally and visually invested in the show rn being currently attached to the show imo its one of the best new gen anime there is and will admit it is very dark and emotional yet I still think it doesn’t come anywhere close to shows like AOT and hellsing ultimate when it comes to being dark and emotional and it being a personal bias takes away all the significance behind said opinion

that's pretty much what happens when you fight together when you can die anytime. People usually become like brothers with the guys in the army. At least from the stories I hear at least. Hardships together and trauma bonding together. Almost dying in Zabuza and Gaara etc
