45 FPS would be solid

On the deck, 40 fps 40 hz makes a lot of games run incredibly smooth! Especially on the small screen. So I might assume that the rog can do that even better.

for sure , i wouldn't buy one if i owned a steam deck already but as a first handheld the ROG ALLY owns the steamdeck in every department :)

​@@ofensatul I agree with you but I still feel like long-term the steam deck might be slightly ahead because even if valve stops support it there will be people out there to carry on the project and you can't necessarily say the same for the ally. If I didn't have a steam deck already I would have got the ally but after having the steam deck and experiencing the touchpad especially in desktop mode the ally is a tough sell for me

Valve will support the Steam Deck forever. My Steamlink is still getting updates and that thing has been out of production for a while. Where Asus will probably treat this thing as one of their many gaming laptops when it comes to long term support.

@@ofensatul In every department? No touchpads and the Steam Deck way outperforms it at low TDP. Also, the Steam Deck is more comfortable and has a purpose built OS. The Ally will never have a community as big as the Steam Deck has which goes a very long way towards making your experience with the device a great one.

I thought I was alone

The fact that this has the remote experience and the console gaming experience while having an infinitely building library from PC, insane! Many years can pass but you'd still be able to access your entire library of games as new content keeps coming out. Not to mention if you're on PC like me, you get to import your games over as well! Also the quick flexibility with online or offline on the go to your wants and needs means you could go to other rooms or places and still play all the games you love! Might not be as competitive as KB+M, but goddamn if it ain't superb. I'd be willing to lose all my ELOs trying haha. Perhaps controls and settings customisation might even lessen the brunt quite a bit!

I’m gonna get it as soon as I can. The fact you can play non-steam game is MASSIVE. Also, I could care less about customisation, as long as it just works

In the official site they say that you have 6.8 hours of battery playing video, so I think it can work as a main portable PC.

If I remember correctly from another video the 65 watt charger that comes with it and the optional 65 watt "dock" charger was enough to keep it almost steady charged while playing plugged in

Absolutely, but with my steamdeck + gyro controls FPS games are a blast. I've loved playing through Wolfeinstein TNO on it

​@@GamesGampGYRO CONTROLS ARE THE BEST! 💯 I wouldn't have believed it myself if I hadn't tried Gyro on my PS controller on Warframe and League of Legends on my standard PC. Its competitiveness with KB+M is still unknown, but it does make FPS gaming and flexible cursor movement extremely smooth and controllable.

My Deck can pull 6.5 hours when I'm traveling on one charge. Really wish Asus had paid attention to low TDP performance.

I agree that this is an issue but tbh I can get 2-3h on heavy games on SD and a lot more on smaller games. That's ok I would say. If this thing can get me 5h+ on anything I would be happy. Like with Smartphones getting better battery life or atleast get you 100% in 20-30mins.

I'm not sure if powerbank can solve this issue, I think you are probably right, wait for ROG ally 15.

It's fine for me if I'm on the go I usly only play for about 1 hour or less I'm mostly with friends etc when I'm out or traveling

It's more of a user issue and how picky they are is preference. I am willing to get the most out of it. For me I am never more than a couple hours away from a wall plug, I already own large power banks and with fast charging it's not gonna be a big deal i don't need to game for any longer than a couple hours anyway. I'm excited to say I pre-ordered one and do not see the battery being a downer at all and I plan to be a power user with my device.
