1. When using push air, you are literally pushing the dust inside. Vacuum is better. 2. Avoid overspinning the fans by applying push air, it will damage the bearings.
I was thinking about mentioning about overspending fans but figured they were rated for 7300rpm and I didn't think my blower could push them up to that. At least not with how short I was using it on them. But I still should have warned people and held the fans. But I like your vacuum idea better probably would have made the q-tip part easier on myself too. I will pin your comment so people will see what you said.
Thank you so much for this video!! My laptop's fans were buzzing and I was TERRIFIED to open it, but your vid made me feel confident enough to open it up and fix it and now my laptop sounds like a brand new machine!! ^-^
Thank you very much. After taking mine apart so many times for these vids that last screw ended up coming out for me eventually too. It doesn't really matter though so long as you don't lose it. I think it's just like that so just in case you somehow lose all the screws you at least have one attached to the case.
Thank you for the video! I’m going to open up my laptop tomorrow because somehow my temperatures were hitting 90’s and idling in 80’s. Its been almost a year since its purchase. Honestly, shtting bricks thinking about opening it up 😮💨😭really hope I don’t mess anything up.
You're very welcome The only part that's a little scary (least for me) is making sure you don't hurt the RGB ribbon cables when removing the bottom panel.
Yaaay the video is finally here. And I see it turned out really good ⭐. Thanks my laptop had started to perform really bad recently let's see how much dirtier mine is
This is incomplete. You have to take out the ventilators too, you will find a blanket of dust over there which is covering the radiators, so the air will be blocked to get in / out. Also clean the inside of the vents too
That I do not know i never had luck with laptop keys anytime they came off they stayed off. I'm sure there's some way to carefully take them off I just do not know myself.
It's no big deal if it comes out mine eventually broke the little clip since I opened mine up so many times for videos. Still goes back in and works the way a score should. As long as you don't mix the screw lengths up you are good.
I'm kind of angry at myself I meant to get before and after temps to see but the completely forgot once I got into setting up and started recording. But I have noticed a 2-3 degree difference on the CPU and about 3-4c on the GPU.
I open mine up once a month or two for a good clean like in the video. then every week I at least dust the outside and use my blower to get some surface dust off.
@@XxViciousxX Thanks, another think I’m struggling with is finding a good magnetic screwdriver kit for laptops with a plastic crowbar that can easily take out the screws without damaging it. Do you know any good ones on Amazon it seems there either expensive or it’s not the one I want. It’s tough find a good one. Idk if that’s any good it has the stuff but it’s pricey idk if it’s worth it. So far I found this one: Precision Screwdriver Set by, Lifegoo 170pcs All in one Electronics Repair Tool Kit with 156pcs Bits Magnetic Driver Kit & Bag for Repair Computer, PC,
@@robrampage1715 I tried to find the one I bought but I guess they don't make it anymore. But I found one that's basically a carbon copy that has everything you need and is not super expensive. www.amazon.com/STREBITO-Screwdriver-142-Piece-Electronics-Precision/dp/B08SGM6F79/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=1DOW6459GZQFU&keywords=magnetic+screwdriver+kit+for+pc&qid=1655693793&sprefix=magnetic+screwdriver+kit+for+pc%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFIQUIzRDRSTUxLRlcmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3NDA5MzIyQ1JETkcyQVY2NEJUJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAzODU3NDAyMjlNWkw5SEJWOUM3JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
i do need to clean mine but i seem to have an overheating problem. armory has my cpu temp showing 80 C' to 92 C' while just plugged in and definitely dont think it is supposed to do that, then shuts down on games. anyone else have this problem or know what to do about it
That sounds like it for sure needs a clean if it's getting to those temps just sitting there. Plus if it's shutting down on games that's for sure to prevent damage so I'd try cleaning it and if it still does it try to have it sent in for repair or try to redo the LM or install PTM if you are out of warranty like me.
I was thinking about mentioning that but then thought they're 7300rpm fans it it would be pretty hard to spin them up that high. But I still should have at least warned people to be careful and hold the fans. Though I just saw another comment that mentioned a vacuum that would pull the dust out vs push it in sounds like a pretty good idea.
@@XxViciousxX I actually re-pasted and cleaned the dust of my Acer Nitro 5 recently. While I had the cooler off I decided to disassemble the fans and remove the massive wall of dust behind the heat sinks I anticipated. I'm not sure, but MAYBE you can use a small tool to push the dust wall into the fan compartment. And then blow into the vent to get it in a spot where you can just take it out with tweezers between the fan blades, without disassembling the fans. Not sure if this could work though, just a theory I came up with in 5 seconds.
@@XxViciousxX I can see the keyboard backlight through the vents on my laptop, so in theory it should work at least for me. Maybe you should give it a go. My laptop's only 1 ½ years old and there was about a half inch thick wall of dust. 6,000 RPM before cleaning it was as effective as 2,000 RPM after cleaning it. Major airflow improvement, doesn't thermal throttle anymore.
Thank you glad you like the content. Either of those would work I normally like 99% but I can never find it or 95% so I just use 91%. As long as you don't go under 90% that would be too much water content and it could start to be conducive.
Hey man,I have some questions🙏🏻I have same laptop and it's gonna really hot when i play warzone and etc. or do some renders, the fan mode is always balance and when i switch to turbo ,makes crazy noise🤦🏻♂️should i create plan for manual mood fan?what's your advise?
I set up a custom fan so it's off until 60c then goes to 40% then at 80c I have the fans set to just go to 100% so I can get the best temps. But my way is pretty noisy but does get the best possible temps without the use of a cooling pad that is.
hello, usually it gets hot up to 90ish C when playing games since the CPU is being pushed to above 4.0 ghz. So if u wanna play cooler, you can go to the power options and change the maximum processing power from 100% to 99% (This will probably change from 4.9 ghz to around 3.1 ghz. I play on Turbo within the armoury crate thinge. my temps are around 70 C when playing games.
I live in Michigan it's pretty neutral as far as temps go in the summer. It's usually 75-80F but we're having a bit of a heat wave right now so it's 85-95. I have the AC set to 71f which makes the room I do videos in is usually 72-74f since it's a top floor room.
Most dust will be stuck as a layer of felt on the outlet grill in between the fan and the heatsink outlet grill. You did not clean there at all. In fact, you blew more dust in there. You should have disassembled the fans or just blew from the fan exhaust at the back into the fan. (Have a vacuum cleaner on it while doing that)
Man I sure screw up a lot. Maybe I should just do what the other guy suggested last night and just get rid of this RU-vid channel before I make somebody do something bad and break their laptop. As he said "ignorant people like you should not touch electronics and especially should not try to teach people how to do anything when you yourself don't know how to do jack leave electronics and computers to the professionals You are not a professional stop acting like one".
@@XxViciousxX I am not trying to discourage you, though re-reading my post my vibe is way too negative. Sorry about that. And hey, easiest way to learn is to do something slightly wrong on the internet. You will get a shitload of feedback in no time!
@@Crewmember2 It's all good It was just more negative feedback after I read that way worse comment about needing a college education even make videos like this and I had just woken up (probably not the best thing to do first thing in the morning lol). But instead of quitting it actually just made me decide to remake the video and do it right this time The only thing I didn't do is disconnect the battery as I've told my subscribers I had bad experiences with that on an older laptop I had as a kid. @@oatjuice5921 Well I have aspergers so I Don't exactly deal with stuff like normal people. Which is why I made the comment after explaining why I responded the way I did.
That's very true but I figured that was a little too advanced for this video. I plan to do a different video where I'll take the fans out and deal with all of that.
@@gribby4526 You just need to be more careful when dealing with laptops. Plus I said it before I opened it "Be very careful as you don't want to forcibly disconnect them". Honestly, Asus should have used those little connection dots that magnetic keyboards use to connect to say a Microsoft Surface instead of ribbon cables those were a terrible idea.
