much love and thanks for u..... yep same exact model but my one is 244hz screen i think also i dikdnt get lucky we have bad battery bad thermal paste and bad thermal pads and too much cost for the coustomer .....

Mike, I saw you a little surprised about the pads underneath the SIO. I noticed some big naked pads too. Maybe this is the reason for the SIO to get shorted again and again. The problem seems to be in between the PMIC SIO loop.

Indeed, to mask the exposed tracks underneath the EC will be part of further troubleshooting. Next weekend i should be able to share what i surprisingly found out in addition along with the solution. Regards!

Thanks :)👍 just please don't put the (-) on the black screw there is some kind of coating on it so sometimes it doesn't give feedback connect the (-) with a crocodile to the USB so your hand will be freer

If you ever get tired of your thermal camera, try the Guide IR PC210 with a macro lens. Not only do you see a slight glow of heat in a given area, you see which component is hot. And that's for a fraction of the cost of a Flir.

I got a crappy one UNI-T260B and that one does need a macro lens to get into certain areas. But it does the job costing only about $250.

Try to check after removing the 3V controller, inject voltage to the 3V input to the circuit of the controller and see how much A it takes. and inject V1 at the output of the controller, check how much A it takes. + a thermal camera...I estimate that there is a shorting capacitor near the 3V controller

LDO = Low or Linear Drop Out. These Outputs are usually located inside of the same IC which controls the buck converters. But Contrary to the buck converters, these regulators are normally used in laptops to power up components which does not require much current, in our case the EC/SuperIO. We can understand this design as some sort of power saving Feature. It is a common misunderstanding that there is only one 3.3V rail present on a laptop motherboard and even experienced technicians are still confused from this simple fsct. However, you have almost always to deal with at least two different 3.3V rails in the early power-up sequence. Kind regards

The only chip that requires 3 and 5 volt at the same time is the audio codec. Take a look into it as there was work done there. Maybe its the audio codec that is causing trouble and killing your EC controller. Take a look here.
