ASUS Rog STRIX G531g - No power repair - Exploding capacitor startup sound - This is sick! 

I am sorry, I laughed to tears at the reaction to the startup sound. And, yes, I watched it several times. Another perfect video, Sorin.

Hahahaha! I feel so bad for laughing but at the same time I know exactly what sound you were talking about. Brilliant Sorin 😂

MAAAAAN ! my headset was on max volume when the sound of the boot logo showed up, I was gonna swear 🤬 but your reaction made me burst into laughter 😅 because it wasn't just me.

You never fail Sorin. If you do have this laptop make sure you unplug the speakers or have a second pair of underpants handy.

This is so sick and funny. Sorin's reaction is the highlight of the month. It happened to me before with this ROG laptop, so finally I'm not the only one who got scared.

No capacitor no shorted capacitor , the manufacturer said: less capacitors less shorted capacitors Thank you, teacher. That sound is like a sword, scared me too !

When I saw the abbreviation ROG in the description I prepared myself mentally to see a CPU and/or GPU running hot under the thermal camera...that owner got lucky and I'm glad, great job from you, thanks for sharing. I love it when damage is visible. I've got two boards with shorts and I can find no sign of failure. A thermal camera would be very handy methinks.

😂 I exactly know how you felt when that sound pop up, my shop is near a Highway and I always get startled everytime i hear a loud honk from cars and trucks 😂.

I have this laptop and love it to death.. I currently have been having issues with it powering on and feel it was something simple but after watching this video. I plan to take it to the shop. 😂

Another similarity to my first experience with the ROG laptop - That opening sound scared the hell outta me too! (Note: I quickly turned down my headphones when you began the startup just so my ears didn’t fry!). Your reaction is priceless. Nice work Sorin!

I've fixed 3 of these with the shorted capacitor, some in the same location others in the front of the board between the GPU/CPU

Sorin, what temp's do u use with that hot air on the caps? 480 C? 30ish % air?

Sorin they dont add all capacitors because Asus knows the laptop will fail and end up to you and you will say "there's three more its fine" haha

It's a good thing those 0.1µF capacitors can readily be unsoldered off many discarded boards.

The replacement capacitor was soldered not on to the original location. Hope fully the other one was paralel to it. :) Human memory fail. Needs service. :) Next video Sorins memory replacement.

hey! I have the same laptop, rog strix g531gv, I found the power plug faulty, I replaced it, the adaptor is good, but the laptop won't start after I plug out the power cable and put it back in. It will take around 30 minutes to start up. I don't know, would be the battery the issue? I guess if I had a short on the motherboard, the laptop won't start at all..I repeat. I unplug, plug back, have to wait several minutes because the laptop tends to shutdown. But when it starts, it works at its optimal capacity.

How do you know the value of a blown capacitor without board diagrams or schematics or a doner board? Is their a way or is their a safe value capacitor you can install in most cases, thanks.

I had one of these. You can actually turn off the startup sound in the UEFI firmware menu, they probably saw your video lol

Wonder, would charging with a powerbank or per usb-c charger still work or does the broken power jack mess with that? If it does but it does still not work I assume it would mean something else got fried too I guess...

how do you know the dell capacitor you took from the other board is of the same specs as the Asus one. By looking, or capacitors do not matter as long as they are the same size?

Sorin !!! You need to come whid current after the 2 input mosfets on the corrent sens resistor ! Chek on diod mod if its bips first !!! And then do it !! Cen belev im telen you this ..

Does it matter that you soldered the replacement cap in a different place? Are those 4 ceramic cap positions all in parallel?
