Great video! Question- some have raised concerns of Asus and Trend Micro farming user data and selling. The privacy page on the router setup uses very broad language. Any thoughts on privacy of Asus routers?

Personally, I don't care much. Why? Google, Facebook and other more are using our data. No harm to have another one. If you really concern about privacy, stay offline. =)

Hello Jayce, I am in a dilemma between RT-AX58U and RT-AC86U. My main purpose is to watch 4k bluray movies with Dolby Vision on my LG C9. Usually those files will have a data rate of 70-90 MB and from your videos, I saw that the RT-AC86U has higher HDD read/write speeds when compared to RT-AX58U. Do you think its worth getting a AC router in 2020 just for the HDD R/W speeds or should I go for the newer RT-AX58U? Thanks

100MB/s on AX58U is more than enough for your usage. Better get AX router now.

Hi Jayce, thinking to upgrade AC66U for my double storey house. I don't have any WiFi6 devices and I don't foresee having any within 1-2years. Is it better to get the AX3000 or AC86U?

You need to change new router and other devices in order to use WiFi 6E. Very few devices support it now. Yes, this router can handle 4K easily.

For a large 2 storey house (5,900 sq.ft), and no wifi-6 devices, which one of these options do you recommend: -> one RT-AX3000 (ground floor) -> one RT-AC86U (ground floor) -> two RT-AX55 AX1800 (one on each floor) -> TP-link Deco m5 AC1300 (3 units) I am upgrading from D-link DIR-842 (100Mbps plan) which previously had the following speeds: -> upstairs bedroom 5Ghz = 85Mbps // 2.4Ghz = 26Mbps -> downstairs next to router 5Ghz = 94Mbps // 2.4Ghz = 26Mbps As you can see, I am having problems with the 2.4Ghz wifi. So based on this info, which router should I upgrade to? Thanks.

RT-AX58U or AC86U ya? I want to use for ovpn and OpenVPN use single thread processor. AC86U with 1.8GHz dual core while RT-AX58U 1.5GHz tri core. Still confuse on this

You already answered yourself. Tri core is more than dual core. You can also get the cheaper one - AX56U - quad core. =)

Hi.. am currently using ac66u and noticed that AI protection is auto disabled when using dual wan-load balance feature.. how is it on AX58? Is it possible to run both load balance and AI protection?

It is the same. AiProtection will be disabled once dual WAN is enabled.

Both of them won't give full 800 Mbps on wireless. But AX3000 is slightly better. Get 2 AX55 and link them with cable is the better choice.

Looking at the circuit board close up and trying to follow the circuits and assuming the 5ghz is the big chip and 2.4 is the small one.... Looking from the front of the router, I would guess from left to right.... 5ghz, 2.4ghz, 5ghz, 2.4ghz. I did a simple test with the antennas up & down and looking at signal strength and couldn't make a determination. I guess someone could block out the antennas and see but I don't care that much.

The AX58U is a 2x2 on 2.4 Ghz and a 2x4 on 5 Ghz. Two streams tx and 4 antenna for rx.

Never try Deco. But dedicated router is always better than mesh unit. Unless mesh unit has tri-band with dedicated 4x4 wireless backhaul.

It just like you have another ISP. Use it as load balance or backup. Will create a video when free.

AX56U is performing very well with its price. You won't get double performance on AX3000 since the price is almost double. Will come up a comparison video between these 2 routers soon.

Stays away - It is not reliable at all. Works worse than my 2 year old D-Link. Keeps on dropping speed and connection. Hooked up my old router and issues are gone. Returned it

Asus junk routers. I bought 2 and have to keep restarting them. The routers take turns shutting down. Its not the modem because the signal is still great after the routers shut down
