Thank you for your feedback! Yes, the speed tests were done on a 2021 Lenovo Legion 5 laptop that comes with a Realtek RTL8852AE WiFi 6 802.11ax PCIe adapter. I will have another video coming out about a different Asus WiFi 6 Gaming router, so stay tuned!

I've been using this since it came out and it's an absolute beast at handling a full house! Especially with the Asus router app. I have a gaming PC that has no way of getting a Ethernet cable to and the Wi-Fi 6 is legit. I regularly get my full ISP boost speeds and have it setup so that PC is priority over EVERYTHING else. It works like a charm. If you bought it.... Then you already know! I truly have been an open source Linksys fanboy for 30yrs but three last 2 router upgrades to 5ghz and now WiFi 6 have been Asus. I couldn't be happier with the amount of control they give you over the traffic and bandwidth priority.

So i just got this and i was expecting to be able to set it up WITHOUT having to plug it into a modem is that possible to do? Im trying to get better connection speed on my pc with a Ethernet cable but my modem is too far to reach my room. So am i able to set this up without having to plug it into a router?

8:35 I just today, 4/12, got this router. My box didn't include the "Quick Start" book mentioned here. The only thing I got in reference to connecting is a large paper showing me how to plug the power and ethernet cable in and then how to install the app on my phone. I followed the instructions on the phone, but could never get it to connect to the internet. As of this date, this is going to be $240 piece of trash sitting on the shelf. I was hoping this video would show that I was doing wrong, but considering the the video immediately jumped to the speed tests, I figured out that this won't be of help in my situation.

@PulsarTECH Год назад
Hi, yes sorry I have not included the connection but it is very simple, just plug in your ISP cable to the WAN port on a router and connect your laptop or PC to any of 4 LAN ports on a router via an Ethernet cable. Plug the DC power adapter to the router and it will turn on. All the setting are setup automatically. If you're not an expert, by default the router have all settings setup in such a way that you just plug and play. And to connect to the Wi-Fi, you can find all the info on the bottom of the router, it shows the SSID for the Wifi network and the password as well, which by the way you can change. Hope this will help.
@GratefulTexan
@GratefulTexan Год назад
@@PulsarTECH That seems to be what I may I as doing wrong. I didn't know about the info on the bottom, and no instructions referred to it, neither the paper sent in the box or the app on google apps. Thank you. I really would like to know something else, an idea of what may be causing a problem. Does it matter what modem is being used? I still have the company's modem, and I was wondering if that was the problem, or do I have to buy another modem also.

@@GratefulTexan usually you can just plug and play but some internet service providers require you to give them the MAC number of the router which you can also find on the bottom of the router, then they add it to your account and give you access to the internet via this router. You might be able to do it in your personal account settings as well if you have access to it. But it all depends how your ISP conducts its policy, so I would suggest you to give them a call and let them know you got a new router. Once they add this router on their end, you don't really need to change anything in the settings of the router.
@GratefulTexan
@GratefulTexan Год назад
@@PulsarTECH That wouldn't surprise me. I am with Spectrum. I've chatted online with 3 different people about this, before and once after unsuccessfully trying to connect the router, and each of them literally refused to give any help, even with words. All they say is that it goes against their policy. Thank you so much for responding. I actually boxed the router back up and was ready to return it. After your response, I unboxed it and will try again following your suggestions in a few hours. Hopefully I can get it to working because I REALLY want this 2g/5g option. More than words can say.
@PulsarTECH
@PulsarTECH Год назад
@@GratefulTexan no worries, I hope this will help you. That's weird what can be against their policy? All they need to tell you if you need to provide them with the new MAC of your new router or not, and if so, then they just add it to your account and there you go. Just ask them what are your steps suppose to be if you want to upgrade to another router. Hope it works out for you.

@PulsarTECH
@PulsarTECH Год назад
It depends what is your ISP speed? 1. Make sure the WAN cable is installed properly as well. 2. Also keep in mind the distance and all the obstacles such as walls, the closer the better. 3. Try using an Ethernet cable to check the speed. Otherwise the router doesn't require any additional setup, check with you ISP, maybe they don't supply you with proper internet speed. Let me know how it goes!

What can i do if the antenna hinge breaks? The insides are fine but it's just not staying up anymore
@PulsarTECH
@PulsarTECH 4 месяца назад
If the antenna hinge on your router is broken, but the internal components are still intact and functioning well, нou can use strong tape or zip ties to secure the antenna in a fixed position. This is a quick and temporary solution. Hope it will work!

Hi, all the settings are automatic, just plug & go but if you want you can change them later for some specific needs. The network & password will be written on the bottom of the router. Hope this helps!

does this require a wifi 6 motherboard to work?
@PulsarTECH
@PulsarTECH Год назад
Hi, good question! No, you don't need to have a Wifi 6 on your motherboard for this router to work but if you would like to use the maximum bandwidth of this router then you would need to have at least a Gigabyte Ethernet card on your computer or 5Ghz wifi module on your smartphone. Hope this will help!

I have a mesh of 3 routers (RT-AX55). I regret that I bought this model. Since I got them in May 2022 I tried all kind of settings. Devices disconnect randomly, there are areas in my house where phones are bouncing from one router to another continuously. Also the radio coverage is not so great. Wasted money and time

can you do a VPN set up video?
@PulsarTECH
@PulsarTECH Год назад
Hi, I don't have this router anymore as I switched to an Asus AX5400. But the VPN setup it quite simple. You need to log in to your VPN account, download OpenVPN location file, copy credentials from your VPN account. Then in router settings go to the VPN, add location file, VPN credentials and Enable it, that's it.

@PulsarTECH Год назад
Here's a more complete answer: Install OpenVPN software on your router: a. Log in to your router’s web interface. The default IP address of Asus AX55 router is 192.168.50.1 b. Click on “VPN” from the left-side menu. c. Select “OpenVPN Client” tab and click on “Add Profile” button. d. Download the OpenVPN configuration files from your VPN provider, and extract the files to a folder on your computer. e. In the “Import .ovpn file” section, click “Choose File” button to select the .ovpn configuration file you want to use. f. Enter your VPN username and password in the “Username” and “Password” fields, respectively. g. Click “Upload” button to upload the .ovpn configuration file to your router. Create a User Account: a. Click on “VPN” from the left-side menu. b. Select “OpenVPN Server” tab and click on “Yes” to enable the server. c. In the “Server Config File” section, click on “Download” to download the server configuration file. d. In the “User Permissions” section, click on “Add User” button to create a new user account. e. Enter the username and password for the user account, and click “Save” button. Configure Client Devices: a. Download and install the OpenVPN client software on your client device(s). b. Import the client configuration file to the OpenVPN client software. c. Enter the username and password for the user account you created earlier. d. Connect to the VPN server. That's it! Your Asus AX55 router should now be configured to work with OpenVPN, and your client devices should be able to connect to the VPN server. Note that the exact steps may vary depending on your VPN provider and client device, so be sure to consult your VPN provider’s documentation for specific instructions.👍
