Amazing in depth review! Appreciate how you incorporated battery times in a couple games, as well as the Blender benchmarks (that uses hardware acceleration lol). Also find the 5 gaming benchmarks names you use were hilarious! "Free fun for cheaters" and "kids with wooden sticks" lol
I've been looking for the right time for a cheapish laptop with a decent graphics card. 2 years ago they was double the price for the same thing. I'll be getting it Monday!!
@@ILoveLLawlietxD @kochamlola8705 @Y.M-oq3ti . It's been great. I got it for my final year in architecture school. The software used in architecture are pretty intense and it's handled some big projects and rendered them to professional quality in reasonable times. Can play most games in high-ultra settings achieving 40-60 frames. I've played xbox most my life so the fps wasn't an issue at that range for me (barely noticeable). To sum it up its a solid laptop that does majority of things well even at ultra settings in most things. (Battery life is bad if not plugged in tho, but that's expected)
Great review. I was wondering, are you aware of a Ryzen 9 7940HS version of the A17 (2023) existing? I've seen it listed on a site, but wanted to make sure they didn't make a typo?
@@Hubwood Okay so that must really be a model for the A17. They have it listed as FA707XU-MS94. I imagine the Ryzen 9 would perform better than the standard 7
Beautifully professional review as always Hubwood! I agree that $1400 usd is definitely too much especially with a horrible screen but it might possibly be done to bump up the flagship ROG models this year
@@stainew2407hello, after 6 months, what's your thoughts? I'm planning to buy if not A17 2023 i7 12th / RTX 4050 then it will be ACER Nitro 17 2023 i7 13th / RTX 4050. Please give me feedback
So the A17 is about $100 more expensive, but the A16 advantage edition with the 7600S is about $1050 with a coupon locally. This puts the A16 on par 3060 115W laptops. I will wait for my man Hubwood to do a review on the A16 advantage edition but it seems to be a good laptop.
Same here - I'm particularly interested in the top SKU of the A16 (7940hs + 7700s ) should cost about the same as this laptop with way better performance!
Very very nice review....You have detailed and explained everything perfectly..I am sure you will If you continue like this, you will succeed and your channel will grow exponentially .... I wish you more success..🌹 -In the future if a new driver update is released regarding an issue Regarding the wattage of the graphics card, we want you to return benchmarks of rtx 4050 (140w🙄) in this laptop 🌹 Thanks
I am hoping for a thin and light and professional looking RTX 4050 laptop. This card does not need a thick frame. Something like galaxy book ultra but cheaper 😂
@@Hubwood Yes, thanks for the review! It’s good but the display is a bit of a dealbreaker. I’ll be on the look for your next videos for when something fitting arrives. You’ve got a great channel
Hm not very likely as they are mostly identical except for the GPU. Even the cooling system should be identical as the GPUs pull the exact same wattage more or less...
I consider buying new laptop so i can try understand is it 240Hz or 144 ? I want more fps playing Dota 2 . My old one is A17 Ryzen7 GeForce GTX . It was on service three times during guaruntee period two times for ssd change . After guaruntee over ssd failed again and i change it with pro Samsung ssd and i have no problem with it . Yesterday laptop just turned off and cannot be turn on so i hope it is the battery or power . We have this laptop in Bulgaria from one site for 1200 € or i can buy Rog Strix G18 for 1900€. Which one should i buy?
I think it's better for you to save that money for the 5000 series instead. The works and games you've been doin will just be a small increase in performance. These type of laptops are just worth for people who are trying to upgrade from 2 gens+ like me who used an RX 570 before.
@@dabonky hello, sadly my order went through. It's a secondhand legion 5 gen 7 with 3070Ti for $1345. Went with it 'coz games I play doesn't support frame gen 😅 Edit: my previous laptop has 740M... So yeah kinda desperate to upgrade 🤪
RU-vid algorithm boosting comment...... Great review Hubwood. Also btw Hubwood, i ended up buying Legion 5 Pro with RTX 3060 5 months back after researching about so many laptops, loving it. 😊
Hey man just watched your review really enjoyed. Just have one question would you say I could use this to do a major in computer science for a duration of 3 years. Yes I don't mind the 17 inch screen lol.
I find it really hard to believe that a normal user will note notice the lack of colour space of the display. My T14 which had similar specs was unusable for some media consumption because of that.
Well I guess that means you're sensitive to that. I've been working in the media/Creator branche in an agency for 15! Years. If you knew what the circumstanes concerning color accuracy, monitors, printing, etc. are in reality, you might laugh ;) Just look at the user reviews of Monitors on Amazon. The shitties 100$ Screen is getting "great picture quality!" reviews by everyone and their dog. If you don't have a good screen as a reference the VAST majority won't notice that. I've experienced that soo often :)
@@Hubwood I mean, I do agree that obviously not everyone needs a colour calibrated OLED panel to be content with their screen, but what I can say is that the screen of my T14 simply was not able to produce some colours. E.G. it was not able to show a real red, but instead displayed some kind of orange instead. Same for Purple, it was not able to display that correctly. Obviously I did have other monitors here for reference and for working the screen of the T14 was not bad at all, but it was bad enough for me to be the reason why I sold the machine again 2 months later.
It look like they are already coming down in price . ASUS TUF A15 FA507NV 15.6” Full HD 144Hz Gaming Laptop (AMD Ryzen R7-7735HS, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11, 90Whrs Battery) on Amazon UK are £1099.00 not to bad for 4060.
Hello ! I wanna ask on how much fps can you get in valorant because im trying to get a good laptop with 300+ fps in valorant because im a pro player in my country. Thank you
I got the same laptop and i was really happy with it. I just have one problem that derepently popped up and those are micro stutters. I run it on turbo mode and while draging around windows on the homescreen such as the "My Asus" App or while turning around in video games it really stutters and also i got some backlight bleeding. Is this normal? i mean i could live with the backlight bleeding since its quite small, but the stutters really bother me since it is a gaming laptop and stuttering is not acceptable to me. I updated the windows and the newest graphic drivers are installed aswell.. scared to touch anything more because i may just return it if there is no easy solution. Does your laptop run clean and smooth?
I just bought this exact laptop because of you I appreciate all the info you gave us. Quick question, do you know if we can upgrade the ram to 32gb? If so, do you know if it comes with 16gb dual channel or single channel so I know what to buy
@@descendingz6017 in cpuz click on the memory tab, there it will say dual or single in the "channel" box. The tab SPD shows the ram sticks in the different channels. Be aware that ddr4 can show dual channel even if it's a single stick only. Just open the laptop and find out if you don't know for sure, you'll have to open it anyway ;)
There is no sense in doing that. The 140 is excactly as fast as the 85w. In that case the 140w version was even slower in a few games as the Ryzen was the more important factor. The 140w 4050 only draws 85-90w anyhow. Just as the 105(85w) Version. Did you see my video where I talk about the wattage? It's the second newest one. Check it out :)
I bought this laptop a week ago not this version but A15 with rtx4060 one. amazing laptop with great looks and feeling. one and only issue i have is when i play elden ring CPU temp saw 92 degrees Celsius. So thats concerning in the long run.
I am planning to buy the same version. However, CPU temp concerns me too. I am planning to play with the settings, the most extreme idea is turning off the boost. I wonder how much it would cool down and how much FPS would fall down. Also I wonder, what is the differences regarding performance, temps between 4050 and 4060 models.
Heya, So between this: ASUS TUF Gaming F17 (2023) Gaming Laptop, 17.3” FHD 144Hz Display, GeForce RTX 4050, AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB DDR5, 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, Wi-Fi 6, Windows 11, FA707NU-DS74 The price is $1249 And this: Acer Nitro 17 Gaming Laptop | AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS Octa-Core CPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU | 17.3" FHD 165Hz IPS Display | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB Gen 4 SSD | Wi-Fi 6E | RGB Backlit KB | AN17-41-R8N5 The price is $1199 Which one between these is arguably better? Is asus build quality better than acer? OR what would be the major differences between these two?
You have to dive a bit deeper and do some research... Which one has better build quality, better screen, thermals and so on. You can get Win10 keys for like 4 euros these days and they work perfectly for Win11.
okay. I'm eyeing this computer. cause mine seems to be dying. its also affordable with a credit program. but i do not want it for gaming. i do editing. video and audio... but I don't know anything about hardware or specs. sooo in short. is this computer okay for editing audio and video?
Video defenitely yes. Audio I don't know since I'm not into audio stuff when it comes to latency, audio chip quality etc. Though it defenitely has enough power to do so.
I have the A15 and it seems this CPU gets quite hot with not many % usage. I checked with msi afterburner and not all cores are active, some are around 70% and some 10-5% is it normal? Is it possible to undervolt this cpu?
Yes they are. They are safe and they are fine. They are designed that way. Laptop cpus are usually way warmer than on desktops. And they usually don't die. Before they do, other parts of the laptop will die. Intel and amd also have security functions that automatically throttle the cpus if they get above 99C° (or sometimes around 95 or even 90C. So don't worry.
Depends on the workload. Blender and video editing will surely use some energy and cause the fans to spin. Browsing and writing can be done with very little noise.
Bro test games for pure power because so we can't fully understand, just do tests according to pure power, so it is more comfortable to compare with other models
@@Hubwood I watched most of your review videos, but we want to see the pure power of the gbus to see it's a more stable system, fps increase thanks to AI,
Yes, a bit better speakers. But to be honest that and the disk writing speeds were pretty much the only thing that was better when comparing these 3 laptops 😅
@@SerCommander I was saying same, AMD have good battery life but they need catch up in gaming performance and way yo do it is, to increase cache and lower MHz, you get higher fps and lower temps
Well it can reach 140 watt. In synthetic benchmarks. But not in games and that is how Nvidia specified the GPU 🤷♂️ Other manufacturers will do the same...
