Think about this though: how many takes do you think he took to not mess it up? lol that's what we _dont_ see. Not trying to be mean, just keep in mind that he is still human and probably messed it up a lot more times than we think, but he worked really hard at it and he finally got it down. This may not be true in this specific instance, since he's probably used to talking to a camera at this point in his career, but he probably had to work hard at some point to get it right almost, if not, every time.

great review, got the monitor and im loving it (gl850 is basically extint in my country lol). although you had a mistake about the 60hz ghosting at od 0: the ghosting is bc of elmb, if you turn it off there is no ghosting whatsoever. im using an xbox one s and i use: freesync on, elmb off, vivid pixel 25, od 0. plus the display gets much brighter with elmb off.

I think it also comes down to black coloring and speed. In the games I play there are a lot.of darks. It's important to see a player in dark setting and if it's washed it's harder to differentiate. I think this monitor is the best out of all of them for speed, clarity and dark in game settings. Which if you play games that are more realistic, this matters.

It would be great if with the graphs we could also get a visual example of what those numbers mean. Even though arguing that the numbers are worse, the actual visual artifacts may or may not be as bad as I believe it might be a much more subjective thing. Having visualizations of these artifacts allows people to decide by themselves and helps us better understand what those numbers translate to in practice. Nice review.

@Hardware Unboxed I'd love to see a review of the newer Asus VG27AQL1A, now with the V-shaped stand, 170hz, USB 3.0 w/ passthrough and "better(?)", updated ELMB Sync. I am starting to see a few Filipino reviewers review it, and based on those it makes me wonder why I haven't seen more reviews. I mean you'd need to check it out with each combination of ELMB, Adaptive, and V-Sync on/off in-game to get a full picture but the monitor seems solid to me, although I think there will be a difference in performance for certain sync features paired with a mid-range GPU compared to a top-range GPU. Rather specifically, difference in performance when optimal frames *aren't* being achieved with various features on/off, compared to when optimal frames *are* being achieved with various features on/off.

So you come off quite bit harder on this monitor than RTings, which rather strongly recommends this monitor as the purchase for 27 1440p and considers it somewhat better than the LG 27GL850-B. Any venture as to why this is? A lot of your criticism seems to hinge on it's lesser performance at 60hz, but I'm trying to figure out: what would I even need to use 60hz for with this monitor? Hey hey. I bought this monitor last week. I was highly disappointed with it when I started using it, but it then grew on me. Having lots of motion issues though. Moving the mouse around quickly and you see about 10 pointers. Might be exaggerating. But when moving fast in game, so pillars and stuff replicate many times. Colour is absolutely stunning. Since moving from 1080p to 1440p Final Fantasy XIV I’ve gone from about 120/130fps I’ve dropped to about 90fps I’m sure that’s fine.

I bought one last year and I now I'm replacing it with a BenQ EX2510 because I was a bit too optimistic and overlooked that parameter at 6:05. If your computer is capable of 1440P and 144FPS at all times then this monitor is amazing. If you can't and settle on 1440P 60Hz then it feels off and sluggish, as explained in the video. And settling for 1080P just look bad, much worth than a native 1080P monitor. All of this be obvious for some of you but it wasn't for me. My GTX 1080 is far from being enough to run this monitor smoothly. So in conclusion, this is a somewhat affordable monitor but it requires nothing less than a beast of a computer, it's not a good all-rounder.

Ended up getting a new not renewed model. Monitors great so far had for 2 days ofc it's not perfect and there is that yellow/orange bleed on the bottom left corner of the panel. But besides that panel seems great coming from a 60hz so this seem like. Bigg upgrade to me that is well worth it, besides the light bleeding, not worth returning just for that I will have to deal w/it' Speakers are not worth reviewing why even add them? 4/5 8/10 Good colors/blacks better than my LG which was also an IPS panel. But that panel didn't suffer from yellow light bleed but my new monitor does.

And according to the sticker on the back of the monitor/panel this montior was made April 2020. So it's pretty new but still has glow problem only noticable in dark scenes I imagine if you play a lot of dark scene scary games or watch a movie with a lot of dark scenes it's becomes increasingly obvious which might annoy some ppl seeing as paid over 400 and this is something you would be using for the next couple of years. Personally I was having hard time choosing what to buy, but in the end went with VG27AQ. Other options were FI27Q-P and 27GL850. The main feature which won me over was ELMB sync. The unfortunate thing is I didn't get to see monitors side by side, as often buyers won't get such a chance. But have to say, ELMB sync is pretty awesome, the clarity in fast paced games is so game changing and I'd dare to say edge giving in certain situations. I truly hope other manufacturers try implement similar technology to their panels as well. But Asus could have ditched the speakers out of the display, they are abysmal and complete waste of effort for their part. Didn't buy the monitor for those and didn't even realize it had those, so there you go. What also would be lovely if there would be more customization for the buttons. I'd rather program those three for 3 different profiles for my liking or at least one button so I could cycle my preferences. Otherwise I have no problem recommending this monitor.

Like If I got this monitor and on some games I was only hitting say like 60-80fps would I really notice much or is it more for people used to high end monitors. As I was thinking of getting this one but I think like fairly often my system would only hit around 60-80fps on most games on ultra 1440p and then higher on others so I get get the high refresh rate benefit... Basically if my system might be running games at 60-80fps most of the time should I not get this one?

zhh these screens fucking annoy me. its always at least one thing bad. - low contrast - shitty HDR - bad brightness - bad colors - curved bullshit - is good at max refreshrate but sucks at its lower end refreshrate, which makes it stupid since there will be a game (or games in the fruture) which wont run at max refresh rate - no 1.4 display port cable support - insane IPS glow - backlight bleeding - no free sync / g-sync support - false advertisement and tech details (1ms reaction time almost never really reflects reality. its always 3-5 or more) - every second video you watch is sponsored so you cant trust anyone anymore. selling sides want you to buy, testers are biased because they get money for saying its good. - some have shitty stands where you cant even adjust height or angle - bad fiewing angles - dead pixels - super reflective surface so you dont see shit if the sun gets through your window - or they cost 900$ (samsung odyssey stuff) - bad default calibration - etc. im so freaking annoyed right now :D all i want is a 1440p 144 hz flat monitor with a height adjustable stand, decent colors / contrast and no bullshit (dead pixels, backlight bleeding, super high reaction times on 60 fps , etc) that doesent cost more than 400$ why is this so hard? so many monitors out there and none have a good middleway. i dont need 360 hz or 4k or brightness level 9000 or super insane curved display with a overlay crosshair or such shenanigans. just give me one thats good midclass in all attributes and without errors/inbuild failures.
