As someone who initially thought the same way, the only thing that some people really fail to realize is how great the convenience is. No wires to deal with and bluetooth earbuds are easily available from any budget. Wires would always get snagged or be in the way. Just a general nuisance. It sucks that we can't have 3.5mm jack but I don't mind the trade-off.

The headphone jack was the coolest "feature" on the predecessor Zenfone 6, also the biggest reason why people were finally back to buying the long-forgotten Zenfone series instead of iPhone, Samsung, OnePlus, etc.... But now it's missing on Zenfone 7, are u kidding me ASUS?

I've been using the the zenfone 6 and I love it, it is unfortunate that they chose to remove the audio-jack because (with all the high quality headphones I have) for me it is simply a must, so when I'll decide to upgrade I'll have to look for something else...

My thoughts as zenfone 6 user. 90hz oled screen is awesome must have upgrade from last phone. Unfortunately the removal of headphone jack, increase of size and too high price is a big no no. Won't be considering this as my next phone.

I still have a few year old zenfone zoom I have as a backup phone, it's a great phone for a good price, it's sad more channels don't cover these lower end phones.

I'm still using my zenfone zoom till now. It still works well even the battery still in very good condition even with gaming, youtube etc, except for the screen and dusty camera (that cant be fixed except I replace it). I have changed the screen for 2 times and it still prone to shadowing. But apart from that, good phone.

Idk who theyve been asking, but in my circle of friends literally noone uses wireless headphones. And i personally dont see any reason to put up with another device that may run out of battery at the most inconvenient time possible. Thats even before taking Bluetooth limitations into account. But im sure everyone wants to pay extra for worse audio quality these days.

@Zen Re: Under "real life circumstances" Bluetooth does not deliver the advertised 2Mbit/s speed, which is why audio compression is used. Not one of the lossless variety either. You will, inevitably, have a different output than input, and thats not a good thing. As long as your listening to your old 128kbps MP3's its nothing to worry about, but modern lossless audio requires more than Bluetooth is able to deliver.

@@ankitsingh4593 it add a point of failure and you can't charge the phone while having the jack plugged in (or you need a cable with USB passthrough + jack, so even more failure point) The phone is huge so taking out the jack doesn't allow a bigger battery. So I don't get why they removed it :/

Will be selling my Zenfone 6 and upgrading to this. I don't care about the headphone jack, improved charging speeds , camera improvements and the amoled screen should give it better battery life. My only question is will volte work out the box for TMobile Or any plans to update it in the near future. When does it go in sale in North America? Seems like the perfect phone

Looks really nice and clean. I much prefer it to the ROG phones, but I get that's for a more niche audience. Headphone jacks are a nice plus to have, but none of my friends or colleagues use wired headphones anymore, so it makes sense to get rid of it and make more space for other things.

I have the zenfone 6 and I like it. Thanks for reviewing the successor. Initially was attracted because of the no notch display and giant battery capacity. Only downside for me is that accessory availability isn't the same as iphone or samsung. I bought the Zenfone 6 on the US launch day August 2019. The phone died 3 times on me before the 1 year warranty was up. The first two times it died and took 3 days to discharge and then come back to life. The third time which was at the beginning of July 2020 it just stopped working all together. The phone is currently at the Asus service center waiting parts but I've already bought the LG V60 and have zero complaints for it. I've never had this many issues with a phone and have already decided that ASUS is not a very good phone manufacturer since the phone was out for the rest of the world for many months before coming to the US and they still had issues on release. Proof is in the forum posts made weeks after release where hundreds of US owners were complaining about power and boot loop issues just like mine and the only fix provided by ASUS was for a complete main board replacement.

The AMOLED screen and the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack are a major failure and downsides for this phone if it was me I would have added the headphone jack and replaced the screen with an IPS 120hz display

Whereas with 4K 120.. Most people watch Films/Anime at 24fps, so TVs rarely exceed 60fps. RU-vid doesn't even support 120fps so it's of no use to youtubers. The only people who would appreciate 4K 120 are gamers with state of the art monitors. Though even then, an RTX 3090 can barely do 4K 60.. So I have no idea wth you meant by that.
