@@eduardostaskoviak7024 The only China brand I have used is ZTE, around 3 years ago, it was super clean and no nonsense too. Both are very similar in fact when come think of it. I always get phones that are as clean as possible suggested by reviewers. Samsung is trying too much I have to say.
@@___Amal_ Zenfone 6 had a hadphone jack and a flip camera. Therefore, this statement is not valid. They probably removed the jack as all other manufacturers to force users to buy expensive wireless headphones...
@@crumbl3d I have the Zenfone 6 and it have a bigger body with 6.4" screen. The Z8 is under 6" and have a huge top speaker with 10*12mm and 12*16mm bottom speakers. Also the newer one have a bigger linear vibrator motor. It does have bigger heat pipes to dissipate heat from the hotter sd888. Finally, the IP68 rating will be omitted for the mechanical moving parts.
I feel like it's a great phone for travelling, because if you forget it, there will be a lesser chance that people will steal it or pickpocket you and stuff like that
Was so hyped for the flip... It's literally just a 7... Heard rumors of the flip having a jack that would've sealed the deal for me anyway but I guess I'll just hold on to my mate 20X for another year lol
How long does Asus support their phones with software updates(new major android updates ?), this info is never told doing the reviews for some reason. ?
I have a Zenfone 6 and I got Android 10 in dec 2019 and Android 11 in jan 2021. Didn't get the may security patch because they are busy for the launch of zen 8. Hope they will release the may security update next week. Project treble can bring three OS updates. There are many custom roms available in xda community.
Very troubling are the Asus support and service that lurks behind. During 2020 and 2021 they were the worst I have ever experienced, in any industry and for any product. Timeline: - Jan 2020: I buy new Zenfone. - Aug 2020: Phone no longer charges, on any charger including Zenfone’s supplied charger. The charging port in the phone is not working. - Aug 2020: Still under warranty, I mail the Zenfone to the ASUS repair center in Grapevine, Texas. This is an unnecessarily complicated process. For example, Zenfone’s support keeps assuming I purchased a laptop, and tries to communicate with me about laptop repair. - November 2020: I receive the Zenfone, apparently repaired. (But the data on my phone has been wiped out.) - March 2021: My Zenfone stops working completely. No power, no blue screen, nothing. - March 2021: ASUS assures me I will be charged only a diagnostic fee of $85, to have the phone assessed and then repaired. - March 2021: ASUS then tells me I’m no longer under warranty, which ended in Jan 2021. - March 2021: ASUS then tells me I am still under warranty, which was extended because of the previous problem with the Zenfone in 2020. - April 2021: I again mail the Zenfone to the ASUS repair center in Grapevine, Texas. - April 2021: ASUS then tells me I’m in fact not under warranty any more. - April 2021: ASUS then tells me actually I am under warranty, which was extended for an additional 3 months. - April 2021: ASUS then tells me I’m in fact not under warranty, which supposedly expired “2 December 2020”. - April 2021: ASUS then tells me my warranty in fact expired on “8 March 2021”. - April 2021: I ask to escalate the issue. (At this point, ASUS Customer Service is already the worst I have experienced, ever, for any product in any industry.) - April 2021: ASUS maintains that my warranty is expired, but offers me a “20% discount” off their fee to repair the dead phone, which is $289. I ask to get a better deal, given what I’ve had to go through in owning this ASUS product. ASUS tells me they will check with their Corporate dept. - April 2021: ASUS calls me back, telling me they can take 30% off the fee, to repair the dead phone. - April 2021: ASUS then sends me an invoice for the full amount of $289, with no discount. Also, the invoice description of the problem is wrong, as it says “Hangs on ASUS logo” (instead the phone does not respond at all). I call ASUS and ask them to correct the invoice. - April 2021: ASUS then sends me a new invoice for this repair, for an even higher fee of $362. The invoice also states a completely different problem: it includes a $97 item (plus tax) and a $243 item (plus tax) both for “abnormal appearance (deformation/scratches/damage/paint removal/dirt/rough edges)”. I call to tell ASUS it should be lower, as we had discussed. And to tell ASUS my phone was not physically abnormal or damaged in any way, when I had sent it to their repair center. And that this new invoice is completely different from their prior invoice. (At this point, it is becoming apparent to me that what is happening at ASUS here is not merely total incompetence, poor training and poor management, but possibly something worse.) - April 2021: ASUS contacts me to say they erred, and should have sent me an invoice for $231. I then correct them again, saying no that would be only a 20% discount off the repair fee. ASUS had told me my discount was 30% off (for $216). - April 2021: During these interactions, I keep having to tell ASUS that my phone is to be repaired at the discounted rate, but nevertheless ASUS keeps sending me e-mails stating that my phone will be sent back to me unless I pay the (undiscounted, incorrect) invoice amount within 5 days of the invoice date. Repeatedly ASUS assures me that my phone will not be sent back to me, that it is on track to be repaired at the rate they had agreed to, and that I will no longer receive these e-mails pressuring me to pay within 5 days. Yet, the e-mails are not stopped, they keep coming. - May 2021: ASUS sends me another invoice for the incorrect, higher amount ($362) and the incorrect problem: “abnormal appearance (deformation/scratches/damage/paint removal/dirt/rough edges)”. - May 2021: I contact ASUS, escalate the issue, and ASUS tells me they will have someone contact me in 24-48 hours. 24-48 hours pass by, with no call from ASUS. Meanwhile, ASUS continues to send me invoices, and a payment deadline, for the incorrect rate of $362. - May 2021: I contact ASUS again, escalate the issue. ASUS assures me that they will stop sending me e-mails asking for payment of $362, and will contact me about correcting it. - May 2021: ASUS “Proactive Care” sends me an e-mail stating that an internal failure to correct the invoice “has triggered the return of your device unrepaired”. The e-mail also states that once I receive my unrepaired Zenfone, I can re-create the return, ship the phone BACK to ASUS (at no shipping cost to me) and “continue this process”. (I’m thinking, Uh… no thanks.) - May 2021: Sure enough, I then receive the Zenfone, returned to my home by ASUS. Unrepaired and dead. To all: enjoy your ASUS experience.
...so...to my understanding the Zenfone 8 series is coming to the states, and that is another BIG difference between the Zenfone 7 Pro and the Zenfone 8 Flip... Therefore - gimme gimme!!
I was very happy with the small Zenfone 8, but unfortunately the volume button broke after just 4 months. Pretty poor quality given that the included cover does not protect the buttons.
Asus phones easily kill Oneplus, Oppo and Vivo phones, and yet, here you are complaining about drawbacks. Frankly, which phone doesn't come with compromises anyway?
I have zenfone 6 with flip camera, but I'm afraid to get 8 flip because the 6 is already very large and they made the 7 pro and 8 flip even larger. Too large.
The phone I was waiting for!!!! I was planning to get S21 because of size and features, but this one appeared out of nowhere, waiting for a US release so I can import it. Does anyone knows how is the Zenfone support? Updates? How many years? Samsung promised 3 major updates.
@@MishoChampion14 Id say its your best bet at a smaller falgship android phone. Only downsides seem to be are the cameras which are still probably better than oneplus' non pro phones.
Your falling hard Android Central.. maybe test the device instead of just reading press material like.. are you sure Zenfone 8 will perform 1100 nits? did you check it? 5:18 or are you just reading specs? /running aroud with false claims is not ideal, that why it is important that a review actually check the device and if it matches their claims) on the Zenfone 8 flip, the brightness is labelled with 1000nits but the tests I seen saying around 700 nits in sunlight and 500nits with slider and precarious enough the Zenfone 7 has 700nits as display brightness that matches that of Zenfone 8 flip, so are the 1000bits claim for the Zenfone 8 flip legit, or is it the same 700nits like Zenfone 7. so are ASUS lying when they claim Zenfone 8 flip will do 1000nits and Zenfone 8 is 1100 nits?? You trying to call this a review but falling hard when you don't even inform if you had to check these claims you putting out.. it is stuff like that you should test as a third-party..as vendors lie a lot on these things. and is these flagships from Asus still rilling with 480fps at 720p as their slowest slow-mo.. even a 2 year old device like Huawei Mate30pro is able to deliver 3840 fps at 720p interpolated and 1920fps at 720p and 960fps at 1080p. Other Snapdragon SD865, SD865+ SD870, SDD888 are finally able to play along with 960fps at 720p, so would be a shame if Asus is still maxing at merely 480fps720p.. slow-mo should be slow-mo as 4K120 aint that slow.
The ZenFone 8 is ugly from the back and the front with that silver ring at the level of the selfie that looks really cheap and that huge chin. The ZenFone 8 Fip has no interest compared to the ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro, the 888 is nothing a better processor than the 865 and 865+ which heat much less and therefore keep their stability over time and over long sessions of games or video photos. A very bad vintage for Asus this generation 8.
I'm so disappointed and sad... The compact ZenFone 8 could have been the perfect device. Only 3 things are missing: 1. Flip Up Camera 2. Support for GrapheneOS and CalyxOS 3. Removable battery Everything else is perfect... - It's compact - Has a headphone Jack - Expandable storage - Under screen Fingerprint scanner - A flat screen without curves I really hope ASUS will do better next time, they missed out on launching the best phone for consumers...
Why do these stupid reviews never talk about where and when these devices are available and what networks they are available on. It's fucking infuriating.
