I disagree. I haven't needed to use a webcam in the last 6 years. All of my teleconferences and meetings are done solely over the phone. I'm an engineer and have roughly 3-5 teleconferences a week. not one that needed a webcam.
@@theheadone I mean, your anecdote at your one company doesn't negate the fact that most of us working from home in 2021 need a webcam. Good for you that you don't, maybe this is the computer for you then.
Great review, the absolutely best one yet! I am wondering whether I should buy this laptop but the fan noise concerns me. How bad does it actually sound? 70dB is horribly loud but you have placed the sensor right at the vents... how does it compare to other laptops like the G14?
@@tobiasmathew5685 lol this is most silent gaming laptop you can ever buy, IN idle and silent mode even while gaming is dead silent under 3O db which is incredible. Only on performance mode can reach max 44 db
@@SonicDestiny Thanks! So I guess the ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED i9 3080 will be silent also or will th i9 stop that party? Ik really like to game and work on a oled screen.
How would this additional screen work as a midi controller with keyboard keys? Would it be comfortable/possible to play some simple stuff without pressing buttons on the main keyboard with your palms?
Bummer I pre-ordered the G15 with the same processor and 80w GPU. Looks like the 115 watt 3070 performance is disappointing. My current 115w 2070 super scores 1500 points less in Firestrike. And this is listed as a 115w "Max-P" 3070 which means the G15 I ordered will most likely be slower than my current 2070 super!
What do you tell us about fans? My Zephyrus M GU502GV has worst fans. They had started producing a noise after 2.5 months. They were replaced by warranty, but n the next month the noise came back. Thanks for response and the video!
Thank you very much for such a detailed review! I have a question about the RAM. You mentioned there was only one RAM module in there, which I could see, but you said a second module could be added. I can't see where? I can only see one module slot. Where would a second slot be? Is it on the flip side of the motherboard? Or are the 2 slots stacked on top of each other so that at a glance it looks like only one slot? Thank you very much!
There is only one slot for you to put a ram slot in. Like all Asus products, they have either 8 or 16 soldered to the board. That way they can charge MORE for the other ram configuration.
Just 3 comments about your review, if I may: - you need to put away the sound meter from the laptop close contact. Sound is measured where could be your ears, not where the sound comes from. Means you should put the sound meter at the same distance where could be the user, and you will have a pretty decent idea of the real sound level you get from user standpoint. - you should consider to have a tripod to put your camera on to avoid too much erratic and annoying movements during your video shooting. - you should consider to have a more case by case approach when testing the sound, the temperature, etc... To make us able to compare the different modes. That being said, it's always easier to give advices and much more difficult to spend time to make videos. So. thank you for this review, anyway ;-)
Since 2005 I have purchased 5 ROG laptops from this company with no issue. I'm considering a new Asus Zephyrus with a 3080 but I'm concerned about the heating issue.
How do you put the thermal compound back? Isn't metal liquid risky to apply since it's conductive? Or this laptop has some kind of protection, I think I saw some "stuff" around the CPU? I'm considering buying it, but maintenance might be a pain ( and likely it would void warranty ). How often would you consider it's needed to reapply the liquid metal on the CPU?
This is a reseller. They actually do liquid metal upgrades on laptops that don't normally have it, so they can probably get this one back together ok. Liquid metal shouldn't dry out, so you shouldn't have to repaste, a big advantage.
@@terekkincaid9160 Oh nice, I didn't knew that liquid metal doesn't need replacement over time. Unfortunately, they haven't used same for GPU, but, as far as I noticed GPUs run cooler anyway, so probably it's not needed anyway for a long while.
Great and detailed video. Could you please confirm if the usb-c port is also thunderbolt 3 compatible since their website says it is in kinda hushed tones but some articles say it doesn't. Considering this beast for both game dev and sound design and a lot of audio interfaces use thunderbolt.
Thunderbolt is an Intel specification. This is an AMD system, so it can't support Thunderbolt per se. However, it can still be a very high speed connection.
Hi, thanks for the video, I have not watched the full video yet but do you know if you are going to get the Flow X13 with 3080 eGPU soon ? Thanks again !
why wont my second screen light up? it is only acting as a trackpad and i want to use it as a screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I just got the laptop in the mail today
@@zakarymcleod1850 smh zak im looking into getting this in the near future and want the full 64gb ram option is there a service or even possible to replace the onboard ram with a higher 32 + 32?
@@Mcflyz009 I have no idea. I know it’s possible to replace soldered ram but I don’t know if anyone does it professionally. It takes a lot of skill apparently
I'm looking at the one with the 3080, and I'm just saying, this stuff is juicy as fuck. The only thing I don't like, is that the 3080 version only comes with a 4k display. So not only are you going 3080, you're also going 4k 120 hz, which jacks the price up even more. XD Oh well, if I go for any of this, I'll more than likely grab 3080, anyways. Great stuff! Thanks for this. Been looking for a laptop with the 3000 series. :D
If you're dropping the money on this you might as well buy a Logitech C920 or C922. They're going to put out significantly better quality than laptops these days even can since most are still at 720. I'm not sure why no webcam would be a deal breaker honestly. That's more bezel space that would be used.
the RTX 3080 and 3070 scores on this laptop are essentially the same in benchmarks and game fps. The main reason for the £1k price difference is the 4k screen and the extra 8GB GPU memory. Essentially not useful in gaming. Save your money
Idk if you still need the info, but an iGPU stands for integrated GPU. So you will be using the gpu that is on the CPU instead of the dedicated one. This is to save power when you're not gaming and only doing simple tasks like internet browsing or typing on word/excel.
At the 9:45 mark, hatingbthe way the screen bends. Maybe just because he was opening with 1 hand from the side. It's cringy. Beautiful machine though....Need to toss my razer for amd alone.
4k gaming is still a gimmick even with these cards honestly. The 3070 is the perfect balance between the 3 laptops. Even then the 3060 one is likely better for gaming. You're not going to get 120fps at 4k on a lot of titles on the 3080 version of this laptop. I'm not sure why it's even a thing. I mean don't get me wrong that laptop is incredible I'm sure for content creators but anybody who is going to game on this thing shouldn't even be humoring the 3080 version. You're going to get much better performance just on 1080p especially with 300hz, and these laptops are able to get above 300 fps on a lot of competitive titles at 1080p. Take it from someone who has gamed on both trust me 4k isn't worth it. The difference is so small it's not worth it. You'll be a lot more thankful to have 300hz at 1080p.
Hi, gentechpc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Asus-G713QM-RS76-Build This laptop is 17.3 inches but why does it say "15.6×11.1×1.1" in your website description?
