oops. Render glitched out at the end. but what i was GONNA say was.... thumbs if you liked it, subs if you loved it for real though: g14 is ripe 2020 amd is ripe this 120 hz screen is not ripe anyone picking one up??
I like when reviewers are really critical of all aspects of a product; I want to hear them talk about details and everything they can talk about (normal content). This is what drove me to your video!
As we all know, a student pursuing a major or a degree in Computer Science just cannot get by without a good laptop. Although the primary criteria for most students would be coding, learning programming languages, concepts, submitting assignments on time, making projects, etc. the students could also do with some extracurricular breathers such as occasional gaming.
@@Siuulolñ It is the answer. Do coding classes which are heavier on the cou with the amd cpu and then go about studying with the 8 hour battery. And then play games in the library with laptop plugged in with the rtx 2060.
Engineering major and CAD modeling. I just bought this laptop because I cannot stand using HP for my college studies. I hope this laptop does well when it arrives
Quick tip for new owners. The laptop can get way too hot in Performance and Turbo mode even with all your drivers that are updated including bios and the NVIDIA card ETC. Even with all that updated it will still run hot so to prevent this I recommend turning off the boost and you'll see a significant drop in temps the highest it will go is about 80 or even 84 depending where you live with ambient temperature especially in this summer weather. This will clock the CPU at about 3000mhz while gaming and you'll see a solid stability in FPS and performance it will run hot but the keyboard won't burn you anymore. I highly recommend this.
5:41 “I really like this keyboard. But I have to remember not to connect the device to the internet or else my benchmark scores will be automatically updated to the servers and I’ll be in trouble” 😂
@@cooliipie Same. MKBHD-level videos have always felt like Twitter hot takes and way too much B-roll. In the end, MKBHD is way more geared to showcase the channel than the product.
This is a fantastic overview and has helped me move to make the purchase of the G14 Zephyrus! This was the first video I saw of your vast collection Dave and was impressed with the clarity, constructive thoughts and humour you use to properly review all aspects of the laptop - production values are top notch. Keep it uP: )
I love Dave Lee with his reviews! Very detailed and honest reviews and that's something I truly respect! Stands out a lot compared to many other "tech channels" here on RU-vid! Keep it up the same way man!
Thank you Dave for showing me this amazing machine. You were the first reviewer who introduced me to the G14, and after watching tons of other reviews, diving deep on ASUS/AMD/G14 subreddits and scouting various e-shops for this device, I was finally able to buy one. And it's as amazing as everyone says. My first laptop ever (coming from a desktop PC) and I couldn't be happier.
5:43 "I have to remember not to connect this device to the internet or else my benchmark will be automatically uploaded to the servers and I will be-" in trouble? 😂💀
@@ConfyScenty sure there is competition between Nvidia and AMD but I wouldn't call it hard time. Nvidia is still destroying the market and their driver and technology department is just better. I'm waiting for AMD to drop something good, but I don't see a reason to skip on that sweet Raytracing
wait a little bit and there will be other models and brands that offer something per each person taste, HP, Dell, Lenovo,... and others are integrating AMD chips now but Asus got there first.
exactly... honestly I don't believe there will be a better 14 inch gaming laptop for the price(this is a light 1.6kg 14 inch laptop),of course the fact that it doesn't have page up and down keys itself will be a big deal breaker for people like me
@@anirudhmathur5555 Seriously how did they even think of skimping on page up/down keys and home/end keys? Asus shouldn't have done that. For someone who codes alot, its the worst thing.
I had a Zephyrus GM501, based on Dave and LTT's recommendations. Great machine, but their customer suport to fix a broken hinge cap was an absolute abomination. I could never go back to ASUS again after that :(
I admit they give a great product, but support in my country about ASUS is just non-sense, they even stole my 8GB So-Dimm slot and replace it with 4Gigs. So more consideration (currently on Dell).
The same thing with my Dell Inspiron Gaming... Dell customer service is the worst... went through 4 months of hell just to get it replaced at the end of it... at least at the end of it all they sent me an upgraded laptop with more ram, storage, etc. Great product, but still bad customer support is such a turn off.
Dell is better around here at least. Never have anything weird when i complaint (on/off warranty). Every country/reg has different CS i think, MSi is worse here and that's one of the reason i didn't went for it, Acer is good but when i tried to buy the product, it was out of stock.
coming from the Google pixelbook, after buying and returning about four or five different laptops in a 60-day span, this thing is my absolute favorite. if you can get over the bad key backlights then you will absolutely love everything about this little beast of a machine
I'm always watching. I am a user of East Asia. 1. Approximately when is the official launch date worldwide? 2. Japan in East Asia. Will Korea, China, etc. be late to the market? 3. Aren't you going to launch a model without a led? Always take care of your health and be happy.
When Dave said "you see that ugly red on the inside" and you then expected him to say... "so I pulled it out and sprayed it blue the, soldered everything back on for a much cleaner look". ;)
Honestly, in a laptop, going over a 1660 is going to really add bulk and heat. Not only is the card bigger, but so is the cooling, and battery needs. You can have a highly portable laptop OR a gaming laptop (pick one). I think in a highly portable laptop, 4k display with 1080p gaming makes the most sense. 1080 to 4k scaling has a 4:1 pixel ratio, which means smooth & simple scaling. 1440p display may look just as good at 720p as 1080p for gaming, due to the way the pixel scaling works. (PS: good review)
U r one of the most dedicated reviewers out there dave. It's. fine even if u r extra critical or picky(even though u're NOT) cuz it's ur honest opinion and WE NEED THAT
If only they'd placed a webcam, this could've been the best all-rounder laptop ever ! It's light and portable, capable of editing videos, even has an exceptional battery life ! Hope the guys at Asus comes to their senses next year an inserts a webcam.
I've watched multiple reviews on this product and I think it's interesting that you notice ghosting on the screen. I wonder If this is something other reviewers skipped over, or this is just a problem with your unit. I'm very interested in purchasing this product for myself so hopefully, this is something that will be fixed.
If you've used high refresh rate displays before, you'll definitely notice specially in faster games. If not, you probably won't really notice a thing. Even then, someone people won't care that much either way, specially since the selling point is the Ryzen 9 4900HS and the 14" form factor.
I rarely give a vote on youtube video but here it is an upvote for your great job :) I am going to buy this one once its available in my area. thank you.
What a great laptop! I got Zephyrus G14 a few weeks ago and I'm so satisfied! Thanks Dave for your recommendation and thanks to ASUS! Great video as well!
@@buthow_ I love G14!It's perfect for gaming and everyday use and also for travelling because of its form factor.I think it's better than XPS for sure! Battery life and everything else is great as well!
@@claudiustanciu05 External GPU, Fast SSD based external storage or stuff like 5k displays. It's a case of "if you need it then it's important" otherwise it doesn't make much of a difference.
Definitely gonna save up for this over the next few months and buy it before I head to college. My current laptop is 6 years old and barely living lmao
