24 seconds in your video. I have to pause and comment. YES I am using that same iPad Pro from 2018. I have almost never kept a gadget for that long and it is still highly functional. YES I have the magic keyboard. I only started using it less is until I got a 15" M2 MacBook Air. My first Air, I always settled for the Macbook Pro but no the Air is doing great. Now there is a new M4 iPad Pro, The most interesting point to me is because it is lighter but if it all adds up to Macbook Pro pricing which is not that attractive. I would wait out for the WWDC 2024 to see if they actually make the iPadOS productive. Otherwise I will just stick to the Macbook Air. I am actually pretty sure that it will be the case. I would actually much prefer a HIGH END iPAD MINI. Since Apple doesn't release a foldable phone.
Wow! You do all this all by yourself...I would have thought you have atleast 3 other people with you in your studio to shoot your vids...That's awesome Dave!
1:40 Thats all what 🍎 is sometimes... Behold, new colour, "mmmm should i upgrage my 6kk old limpingbluestarfishcolour to harshgreyredarmadillocolour". But waiting plain iPad with some M(x) chip to come.
Awesome video. This will be my first ipad in like a decade. Still debating if I should sell my tabs9 ultra for the 13 ipad pro. One thing to mention and if you could test for us Dave is apples choice to give a binned m4 chip in the 256/512gb model and the full fat m4 in the 1tb and up models. Since I don't upgrade much wondering if the full m4 chip is worth that extra apple tax. Also debating on waiting to wwdc to see if just maybe ipad os is updated along with ios 18. I would love a dex like feature in ipad (stage manager ain't it).
You know that you would have to interact with a big touch screen on or off camera instead of just pressing buttons, right? Or will it be a supplement and only used before the recording? And how you can send 4 4K video streams wirelessly to a single device? What about interference and stuff like that? This sounds crazy.
In actuality, Honor was the first producer of a handheld gadget to employ this dual OLED display technology. The Honor Magic 6 RSR phone has it installed.
I do not think these iPad Pro's are the first consumer devices to have dual-layer OLED panels. Some Chinese brands (Huawei /Honor) may have been the first to bring this tech in the consumer market segment. But since they are only available in the Chinese market and doesn't get this much press is the reason for this assumption. Also, This tech is in the auto industry for a couple of years now (specifically displays made by LG).
Dave, I thought the multiple camera stream was just for iPhones and iPads and not cameras… correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I heard from the event
These new ipads are amazing pieces of hardware superb tech. But the software, specifically ipados, is so limited, soo incredibly horrible, that there is nothing to use all the amazing hardware for.
My issue with the keyboard is it doesn’t provide any protection to the iPad. Let’s face it, if you own an iPad long enough it is going to hit the floor sooner or later. Despite looking awesome I prefer the Logi keyboard because it actually protects the iPad.
This review helped me realize my M1 iPad Pro is still more than enough for me. The whole filming/streaming thing is amazing but doesn't apply to me at all. Thanks Dave for always delivering unique perspectives on this stuff.
Wait, Dave, you are looking at buying a M2 Mac Studio vs iPad Pro (probably highest settings) + 3 iPhones 15. Financially-wise I don't think it is more attractive. Sure, less cables and easier setup, but you already have the cameras and the gear. I mean, test it out and of course make a video of it! 😀 I would love to see it.
Your information may be inaccurate about the cable. The silver one comes with a white cable and the space black comes with a black cable, according to apples website.
Just rewatched the key note - multicam is cool just not a fan of the fact that I would basically have to buy more Apple devices to use it. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong … but based on the keynote it looks like it only works with Apple cameras (ie. iPhone) .
