We cleaned out two retention ponds for a business in the Upstate. On this particular job we used the E-45, ASV RT120, Fecon mulcher head, the rut cutter and the bush hog. We had all the toys out for a few days.
From an infomercial standpoint this is a fabulous video because it shows you’re not a one trick pony when it comes to brush control. You have a brush hogger for the CTL and an brush hogging attachment to the Bobcat. Add a mower, plus now the Ventrac, and you company is a force. As usual it is well photographed and edited, providing just the right mixture of action and commentary. Kudos to you all and a special shoutout to Josh and Willy for a job well done. Got was smiling on you when you hired them.

Great job guys, just 1 observation wipe the hydraulic couplings before connecting up or fit dust covers a quick wipe is cheaper than a new pump, stay safe and well guys :)
There are those of us who can appreciate the challenges posed by a job like this and so we mean it when we say "Job well done." Slope mowing, black sticky/stinky mud, and high vegetation with hidden surprises are 3 prominent variables for many of the jobs we do in my company. I especially like it when a potential customer says "it's not that bad" during the bidding process in an effort to keep the price down. Nope. I love what I do in my business but I expect to get paid appropriately for it. Enjoy what you do.

You and your company could greatly benefit from a Ventrac tractor and the tough cut mower. You should look into it if you didn’t yet I bought one this spring for my landscaping business and it has been amazing.
You fellows define the words "good hard work". It just looks so much better after being cleaned up. Do you ever have time to wash down your equipment? We just bout a CAT 259 skid steer with new WIDE tracks on it. It needs one fine drive motor and one hydraulic pump. CAT dealer price: $20K. We will spend about $4K for parts, paint, decals etc. and have a total investment in the machine of about $7K. When the engine is started there is not even any smoke. We'll see. We've got 19 acres of pasture that has not been cared for in 15 years. The husband died and the wife could not handle it. What a shame since the grass is all Alfalfa.
Thank you for the reply. I was talking to my son who wanted permission to buy a CAT skid steer that needed a final drive motor and a a hydraulic pump. The owner was given a quote by the CAT dealer to overhaul the unit of $20K. We bought it for $3K and will spend about $7K to totally overhaul the unit. But first things first - power wash the unit. WOW! Those machines pick up a lot of "highly abrasive grit and stones that muck up the under carriage. But a few parts and a good paint job and we are off to the races - to maintain his property. We have a BIG truck and trailer for over dimensional/ over weight loads and nine owner operators working for us so I only look for "stuff" that can maintain the land. @@UpstateBrushControl
I got a good question. Why not use wood mats for those really soupy bottoms? Seems it would make both travel and finish work easier. Is there just not enough jobs or spaces that you'd end up using them?
Man that looks clean!! Why do the retention ponds get mowed? Seems like all the plant material would mop up unwanted moisture. That mower and rut cutter seem like a really good investment!
Got it. So are you contracted through municipalities for the retention pond maintenance or are they owned by private entities and they are required to maintain them to county standards? How often do you circle back to clean them up?
@@jasonwier9802 It's all owned privately. Every pond is different. Some we do a quarterly maintenance, others we cut once and a landscaper takes it over from there.
Because it's not going to cut grass as well as a deck and most importantly the overhead expense of running a machine like that is not worth what you could reasonably charge just to cut tall grass. Way more profitable to cut it with a $7k lawn mower that's going to cover ground in the same amount of time or quicker.

I know that you get a lot of "advice" on your channel but in all seriousness theres a tool that Ive been using commercially in my business for almost 3 yrs. that will revolutionize the way that you do that detail work with the pole saw.Its called a Brush Destructor head. It will work on any commercial trimmer or brush cutter with a minimum 25 cc engine but it runs optimally on a Honda GX35 36cc four stroke brush cutter. It will zip through and 8 inch oak limb, mulch privet hedge and briars, and finish cuts grass better than trimmer line. Not exaggerating at all. Like having a small chain saw, brush cutter, and weed eater all in one. The kit will cost about $220 but id gladly pay double that if I had to. @@williamwalker6592 I know it's important for safety but not all of its machines are equipped with horns and the ASV crusher is spinning while no one is in it. I have already made the remark about it but the answer was not very safe. If we talk about security, security must be ensured everywhere, including in the workshop, and children, for example, must not play it. What was the case in a previous video.
