Using my new-to-me 6ft or 72" harley rake on my ASV RT40 to regrade a yard after septic installation. Subscribe & Check out my other videos on the ASV RT40 and Kubota KX040.
So I have a 2021 RT40 with the kubota in it. I also have what is called the all-weather cab which is cab, heat, and ac. I also ordered it with the factory back up camera which goes where the mirror up top is and the Jensen heavy duty radio which mounts up too on right side inside cab. A/C surprisingly doesn’t rob any power. I’ve never had to turn it off to work.
Thanks Windzer! Thats great advice, i finally got the hang of it and ended up doing just that toward the end of the day. I even ran float in forward and adjusted depth as you described.
Neal, does the cab on the ASV RT40 have Heat/AC? I’m thinking of all the dust kicked up by the Harley Rake. But what a great tool you brought back to life in that Harley Rake!
@@jeffmayeux1692 unfortunately the cab only has heat!! I was really sweating in there, but it was better than getting covered in dust. When I bought the machine I drove 8hrs to get it each way. Seller told me it was cab with heat and ac. It was December in Michigan so I couldn't really test if it had ac. Turns out it didn't. I was a little mad haha. Thanks for the comment!
@@jeffmayeux1692Acording to the sales person I spoke to, yes you can get an enclosed pressurized cab with heat and A/C for the RT-40 with the Yanmar engine. If you look at the back of the cab, you'll see in some pictures an "area" with two electric fans. I assuming that's the condenser. Thats also where the condenser is located on machines that I know have A/C. I know that's not an hydraulic oil radiator because the hydraulic oil radiator and engine radiator are side-by-side and not stacked from pictures I've seen. FYI, the current RT-40 has a 3 cylinder turbocharged Yanmar engine. Yanmar also owns ASV now, thats why you're see more and more of their machines going to Yanmar engines. I don't know for sure if the RT-40 has an option for A/C when it had the Kubota engine, but there's a good chance it did. According to the website, A/C is not an option,🤷♂️. I've been doing a lot of research on these machines lately.
Hey Neal, how do you enjoy your ASV? We are looking at replacing our Bobcat with an Rt-75 but dont see ASV in the field too often so not sure how itll compare. We demoed the ASV and loved it though!
I really like it. A 75 is a lot larger than my 40 but I really like how easy it is on the ground. I think bobcat quality has gone downhill lately, but that's just what I've heard and read from other operators on online platforms.
Thanks for the comment and question! Pricing is definitely dependent on location. I'd say most would just charge a minimum rate for that. Probably 500-1000? But you never know.
Hey Aaron! I think they are used somewhat interchangeably. But there are some models that have a hopper and the attachment is supposed to sift the soil and throw larger rocks and debris in the hopper so they are not left in the topsoil. I think the harley rake is probably faster and less prone to clogging up. You can also use the harley rake on gravel driveways too, where a soil conditioner wouldnt work. Thanks for the comment and question!
I do landscape construction and some minor grade work here and there. How do you like your rt40? they really interest me. I'm most interested in the rt50 thnx
I upgraded from the older pt30 to the rt40 so I already had a bunch of attachments that only fit that size quick attach. If I was starting new I probably would have looked for an rt50. With that said I have spoke to some people who have owned both machines and they say they are pretty similar the 50 just has larger track system and a large counterweight. I think power wise it's the same engine but I'm not 100% sure. I will say I am very impressed with the rt40. It has a ton of power for its size and it does the job of bigger machines for me all the time.
Neal, nice video! I own a 30. Love the size but it’s shy on power. Thinking about a 40 but the 50 has the full size attachments. But it’s also bigger. If you had it to do again would you stick with the 40?
Man that's a tough call. I have so many pt30/rt40 attachments that's why I went with the 40. I like the 50 and full size attachments but from my research the 50 is the same machine except they turn the motor up a bit and add a counterweight and larger track rollers. It sits up higher for higher COG on an already tall machine. I'll say I love the 40, but if i didn't buy a bunch of attachments for my old pt30 I probably would have gone with a full size quick attach machine. I'll also say my rt40 with Kubota engine is night and day over the 30 with the Perkins.
Thanks for your thoughts! I’m torn as well. My 30 definitely lacks power but it’s so small and maneuverable in the woods. They are using yanmar now. Is that different than the Kubota or does one make the other? The 50 is definitely taller. Not sure if this would be good or bad. Have you run a brush hog on the 40? Wondering how well that would work. Thanks again!
@@tdf4089 I would be happy with the Yanmar engine as well, I have them in some john deere equipment. My 2019 RT40 is Kubota engine, i think in 2021 ASV got bought out by Yanmar and they put their engines in the machines. I run a brush cutter on the RT40, works great. I don't have any videos currently of the cutter on the RT40, but i have many on my channel running the cutter with the PT30. I also run a 6' harley rake on the RT40 and have videos of that. Check them out!
I was watching the Harley rake last night. It was doing a nice job! Looks like it works well on wood chipped surfaces. I may need to look into one of those. Thanks for your input Neal!! I have to pull the trigger today. You don’t have any experience with a snow blower on one of these do you?
@@tdf4089 no snowblower experience, sorry. Good luck on the purchase, report back and let me know what you buy! Also check out Facebook group "ASV Skid Steer Forum" if you're on Facebook.
I do have a question for you. How did you get that Harley rake to mount up on the 40? Did you reweld the hitch plate or change out your hitch on machine? I currently run the 50” erskin made specifically for the ASV 40 hitch plate but it’s so small.
