I remember the first time Sultins of Swing was played on radio in Sydney.....the requests kept it playing all weekend long.....over and over......nothing better than floating round in a pool with a tinnie listening 😂

Young people are still finding Dire Straits and being blown away which is wonderful but the band life style is understably ruinous. It's not surprising that they broke up, needing some normality in their lives. It does seem a shme that Mark knopfler was not at the Hall of Fame event though. Fame is not easy to live with. He seems happy now, which is more important.

His father was Jewish and had to escaped Hungary when the Nazis were already in strong control of Germany and their effects were also evident in other fascist countries. It should also be pronounced Knopfler and not Nopfler. Knopfler is a distinctly Jewish name. Knopf means button.
