61 here and been lifting since 16. Great advice, Mark. The reason I think I look good for my age is bc I incorporate weight training (moderate) in my life routine. I see so many younger folks working out " and doing it less effectively. Cheating to get heavyweight reps, rather than good form. As you get older, you want to lean up, not bulk up. Biceps/Triceps always make an older man look healthy, even with a mildly protruding belly. I often "get some looks" from young women just because I'm an old fire/medic in decent shape and muscular arms for my age plus the Mario mustache hides my ugly face. Thanks for sharing - just joined your FB page btw. Always look forward to your advice, Mark!
Marc, thanks for this info. I also bought your 90 day program and following and getting results. But a question, what's up with all those alcohol bottles in the kitchen?
You forgot add forearms to your workout for both arm symmetry and grip strength on arm day. I will do combine bicep, triceps and forearms workout on my arms day. Just add seated wrist curls (palms up) that you can do with dumbbells, a short bar or a barbell/curl bar. You can also do reverse curls, palms down too using dumbbells bells, straight bar or curl bars too.
@Nigel__ LOL I hear ya. I think the trick/secret is to use a bit less weight than you would on regular Curls. Esp since you're/we're basically doing 21 Reps in a row.
Very good approach of "mixing it up". I'll be 77 next month, and still at it since a youngster. (Might be a dumb question), how many times do you supposed to go through the complete 4 exercises ? (# of Circuits ?)
Great tips. I'm gonna try the Hammer Grip Concentration Curls. I usually do the Supinated style Concentration Curls (Btw it's pronounced "SOUP-i-nated" 😜); and Standing Alternating Cross Body DB Hammer Curls; but gonna try the HGCC's to change things up.
I'm 60. I have been lifting since I was 16. But I have always been torso dominant. My arms were not as developed as my chest/back. Probably from always doing compounds first. Now I put arms first BEFORE benches. And it works. My arms are growing.
The problem with a tight t shirt is that while it makes your arms look bigger, it has the same effect on my gut. Are there any shirts that are tight around the sleeves and looser around the belly?
Flesh Clean Tees also has good tees for dad bods, and they're a little longer in the torso. But I like True Classic tees too, they even have long sleeve button downs.
Like your feedback i workout from home i have adjustable dumbbells Bands and leverage/ fuctional trainer/ vertical leg press can do everything i could do at the gym even chest and back
I'm 59, fairly athletic - but, I've never "worked out" with weights. I don't want to become muscular, but I do want to get a good tone. Would this style of workout be beneficial?
Close grip bench press with dumbbells then superset with hammer curls no rest the tip is though u need FAT GRIPZ handles give it a try my arms blew up quick.
56 now and stopped doing home workouts and hit the gym a year ago now. Doing seated incline, preacher, and cable curls. All other exercises too incliding pull ups. Works for me, home gym wasn't enough.
