At Home: Gutters, Roof & Windows 

As someone who has looked at a lot of properties the past few years, I really appreciate you taking such good care of your home and making sure it presents well. I’m shocked at some of the places I have looked at. It’s been an eye opening experience! I think the folks who buy your house are going to be very lucky and happy! 😊

I seriously doubt that many other people would be so fastidious in keeping a window in that position as clean as you have!

Whoever buys your lovely flat is going to be very lucky that you are leaving it so well maintained and clean. I had our guttering cleaned today. Some of it needs replacing and two more downpipes put in as there aren't enough to cope with heavy rain. I had known about that and have been putting it off. I'm just waiting on the quote for that to be done. But while he was up there the tradesman assessed the roof and said it's close to needing to be replaced. We did repair work on it 10 years ago and had it repainted which extended its life until now. But I'm worried how much a new roof is going to be. This comes less than two weeks after dropping $2,000 on vet's bills for a sick cat!

All these things will help you sell your flat. Some people can't see the importance of the little details but I'm like you and would want to get every little thing as perfect as I could. Once the viewer has gone up the stairs and not thought urgh at any point they'll be blown away by your lovely, homely little home, that isn't that little as the rooms are really well proportioned and the way you've set it up has everything you'd need. I'm keeping my fingers crossed another little gem comes your way.

If you want to safe the moss place it on top of your indoor plants and it will help hold the moisture in as well. Wishing you all the best.

I’ve been cleaning my windows too, it’s taken days (I’ve got 11 not including the back and front door windows 😱) horrible job, but so satisfying when they’re done, and I’m too tight to pay a window cleaner. 😂

You are a hands on let's get it done person if only you had good knees there would be no stopping you. Do so hope you get a ground floor new home with a garden space and good light in the windows.

Oh my goodness you’re such a trooper 💪🏻climbing out on the roof to clean windows and gather moss . Reminded me of my dear old Nan sitting on the windowsill cleaning her sash windows in Selhurst. I used to help her polish the front step with ‘Brasso’ does anyone still have brass covered doorsteps anymore? I’ve just been for a swim in the sea you’d love it the temperature is perfect 🏊🏻‍♀️. We’ve now gone with 2 estate agents dual commission to try and widen the market for a buyer. Maintenance is definitely hugely important I’m with you on that 👍🏻🤗Love the Heath Robinson tool you used for the moss removal very ingenious.

You reminded me: I read some instructions for 1950s British housewives that windows, window ledges, door steps, etc, etc. must be cleaned weekly. There was a whole long list of jobs that were expected to be done way more frequently than I'd ever dream of doing myself. Washing indoor walls every spring and autumn, painting every two years.... That painting business would cost a fortune today. I did wash my kitchen walls and ceilings in 2021. There's some greasy cobwebs and whatnot way up on the wall now. ....later. I'll use one of those sponge mops next time. I cleaned the kitchen cupboards the last time I painted. That's when the new pope was elected. HA HA! OMG I found tins of expired stuff going back to the late 1990s, early 2000s. It's not as bad now. Painting the inside of kitchen cupboards is a torture. What with no birth control and large families, cooking from scratch, shopping almost daily AND doing everything else including the laundry, hanging stuff up to dry..... The ladies were active. I doubt there's too many 20 to 50 year olds these days who could manage that sort of life.

You started showing the roof, and i was leaning back, trying not to have that falling feeling 😮😂😂😂 But like you said, it was only because we were at that point that you felt the vertigo 😢. Bravo Vivi! Job well done! Whomever gets your flat will be so lucky with all of your mindful cleaning and maintenance of your flat and the roof area. The new owner will definitely have big shoes to fill. I'm sure your neighbors will be so sad to see you go as far as everything you've done for the building and your friendships. I have moss growing on my roof tiles and in my gutter. As you can imagine it's caused issues with my gutters. I've recently cleaned them off and in the gutters along with the downspouts. I vowed never to let it get that bad again. It was years since my last cleaning. 😮 Anyway, I saved my moss and made mini terrariums with them and gave them as gifts for Christmas. You could always keep your moss and take it to your new home as a momento. I just spritzed mine with water every now and then and it's still quite lovely. I added rocks and pebbles and even attached some pieces of moss to the larger rocks. It was a very fun project. BTW, that was a great tip about keeping your phone with you when you're doing jobs on your own. I got trapped in my garage one time for an hour when something very heavy fell on me and wedged me against my car. I was screaming for help from a neighbor but no one heard me. I finally managed to get loose but I did sustain an injury, so I'm really glad you mentioned the importance of keeping your phone on you. ❤

Maybe it's a good thing that London has a lot of rainy days? Because every time the sun comes out- Vivi jumps on the rooftops and dance on them and we die of fright. You are SO industrious 👏 Eliminating the "erwrr..." moments for potential buyers. Very sensible. I can't work out where that little window is in your flat though!

We all sense how much youve loved and cared for your flat. Wish there was a way to put a chair lift somewhere on your stairs. At least part way up. It would allow uou to get up them easier and stay in the home that you love.

Hi vivi I hope you are well, I hope that you don’t mind but I do feel I need to correct you on the terminology of your fear of heights, you said vertigo! Vertigo is an ear condition in which the room is spinning, you can be unbalanced and can even be sick. I believe your condition is acrophobia in which it’s a fear of heights and makes you anxious, loving your videos and your zest for getting things done. I don’t want to upset you in anyway and apologise if I have. Keep up the good work ❤ xx
