I just bought this turntable yesterday. Easy to set up and use. It's connected to the phono input and ground screw of an old, but excellent, boombox. The JVC PC-55. No buzzing or hum at all. Sounds terrific.

Thanks for review! I've got one in silver colour, looks and sounds amazing! What a standard height position for tone arm if I use standard cartridge? I guess, it was changed and I want to double check it.
@AudioTechnicaUSA
@AudioTechnicaUSA 2 года назад
Hi Maxim! The tonearm height adjustment is correct when the tonearm is level (parallel to the record surface) while the record is being played at the recommended vertical tracking force (2.0 grams in this case) for the stylus. Thanks! - A-T USA

does this have 100% shielding around tone arm base so no buzz gets in ie a power board placed directly behind the TT will cause buzz with old 120

Well, I finally got my 140...and I ended up sending it back to Zzounds the next day for an exchange. It seemed to have grounding problems, because there was this loud buzz/hum that came from it all the time, even when I had it turned off. The only way to get it to stop was to unplug it altogether. Hopefully the new one won't have these problems, because the next time will be a return for refund.

As leery as I am of the quality control on some of the SuperOEM tables out there, I am looking into this one as opposed to an older 1200M3D of unknown quality. I figure a used Technics built in Japan and a SuperOEM built in China or Taiwan will probably be equal in build quality...

I just ordered one of these today. I finally got sick of my Technics belt-drive and its speed issues and lack of anti-skate. I can't wait until it shows up!
@robsemail
@robsemail Месяц назад
This isn’t the superOEM model; for Audio-Technica, that would be the LP-1240. And yeah, the superOEMs do rival the Technics 1200 and even exceed it in some measurements, but not all. I have two Reloop 7000 mk2 models, and they’re better than Technics 1200 mk7 in terms of build quality, isolation and direct-drive torque, but the 1200 mk7 is the best at holding a steady pitch for long beat-mixed transitions. The Reloop 7000 mk2 and 8000 mk2 have metal construction and metal buttons (and I think the same is true of the superOEM Pioneer PLX-1000 and maybe the AT-1240 as well), while the Technics 1200 mk7 is mostly plastic and lightweight. I deejayed with 1200 mk2s for many years, and I can say that my Reloops feel more like the old 1200s than does the Technics 1200 mk7.

Followed the balancing and suggested values for the arm and anti-skating, still very hard to place the needle at the exact position because anti skating force is always pushing. Is that expected? Setting anti-skating to 0 does allow for exact placement of the needle.

52mm overhang like on a Technics tonearm?
@AudioTechnicaUSA
@AudioTechnicaUSA Год назад
Hi there! The Technics 52mm overhang gauge is measured from the headshell post shoulder (aka flange) to the stylus tip. A-T measures from the center spindle. The 52mm overhang equates to 15mm from the center spindle. The AT-LP140XP has an overhang of 16mm. The AT6180a may be used to properly measure and set the overhang. Choose the model that has the height-adjustable tonearm base as shown in the video. Older models of the 120 still have them, the new ones don't. The 140 as shown here in the video also has it. This is for if you want to use other pickups. (the 2M Red for example) Hope the tipp is helpful for You. with best regards from Vienna Austria PS: both models sound good!

It is recommended to replace the Tone Arm when replacing the cartridge according to this video, however that is nearly impossible to do. Where the hell do you buy Tone Arms? I have checked all over the internet and every time I search on sites like Amazon I only get turntables as results. I have searched for "Tone Arms", "S-Shaped Tone Arms for Turntables", "Tone Arms for Turntables", and all I get are turntables or exercise equipment. It seems like tone arms are not sold separately. Dose anyone know how to buy Tone Arms?

Hi! Congrats on your new AT-LP140XP turntable. :) In answer to your question, we suggest that you move up to an AT-XP5, which is an elliptical stylus in that line. Keep in mind that the stylus will only sound as good as the condition of the record. That said, 1g on the counterweight is too low and the tracking force will need to be set between 2-4g (anti-skate needs to match the tracking force). Let us know if you have any follow-up questions, as we are glad to help! - A-T USA

Replace the cartridge, the cartridge that comes with this turntable is a dj cartridge and they are not designed to sound good. If your going to replace it then buy a Nagaoka MP-110. Best bang for your buck cartridge.

The only thing this fabulous turntable needs is: 1. LCD display for BPM value & pitch like the Reloop RP-8000, 2. AKM 32 bit AD/DA converter 44.1, 48, 96 & 192 kHz for vinyl recording and digital conversion and 3. A very high quality USB output to avoid any possible quantization errors for 100% hi-end sound, or an SPDIF output for audio transfer to a professional audio interface card. 4.5 stars only, because of the 44.1, 48 kHz audio card. This turntable needs serious attention! TECHNICS lost the game in the Dj market, not because of the higher price, but because of the features and the quality construction AT turntable has to offer.
