With family coming in to visit, we planned a shorter day. We got picked up after 12.4 miles at the famous Dover Oak, which is the largest of its kind on the east coast. We shuttled into Kent, CT where we were able to do laundry (finally) and check into our Air BnB for a shower. We had a great supper with family and had a good time visiting.

Took pictures at that tree when I drove the AT in a motorhome with mom in 2020. Very impressive!

Amazing it has lived 300 years+ and not yet been hit by lightning nor damaged by windstorms (that we can tell).

When you are done with the at you should get Gavin in with a physical therapist. I’ve noticed his gait is way off and he’s got some muscle imbalances which are affecting his gait. I’m not surprised he’s had issues.

Agreed. When I was a bit younger than Hawkeye, I kept rolling my ankles during running sprints. My school district’s PT gave me some exercises to strengthen the correct muscles in my ankles and feet. He had first learned them in Army boot camp when it was noted that he had the same issues. Forever grateful to Mr. G.

?????Does it seem like there are more downed trees compared to your 2019 hike? I know we have had more larger storms with high winds and bad ice storms.
