Thank you for your insights. Your peaceful and grateful approach to life is awesome. I am almost 10 weeks still in the boot with heel lifts. Plan is to come out of the boot at 12 weeks. Everyday is a fight to stay in the game and not let myself get to down.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I had the surgery a month after the injury. On my 1st week post op today. So glad to see where you are now. Will take your advice on track to recovery. Very helpful.

So glad you were able to gain your mobility back...I know you said it was a mistake, but I think it is part of the journey, part of living....and that involves risks, sometimes ones we regret, but it has all worked out...Scars are stories, and experiences, and it has helped others.....stay positive, love to watch your travels :)
@aperezvoyages

That is for darn sure! I've definitely said that to myself many times and even look at my scar and say, it's a hell of a story! One of my craziest stories for sure. :) Thank you for the kind words and support !

Yo man! 8 weeks post OP and still vibing with the boot. It's still very stiff, but at least I could start driving again last week! Would love to see all the others in the comment section report back on how it went for the duration of their recovery. As you mentioned, this injury ends up being more of a mental battle, although it's obviously a very physical one too. Battle on!

Keep it up brotha! You’re 8 weeks closer to freedom! Some do respond so if anything can comment on others posts. But just glad there’s a little community of advice under my video. It’s something I didn’t have but glad others can

Being up and around is a reality that will happen. Just over time! Patience trully is a virtue with this kind of recovery. On a positive note, take this time to reflect on everything and how you will see the beauty of having two healthy feet.:)

This is going to help people in similar situations for sure. Idk how I'd react if I couldn't walk. It'd be the worst thing ever since it's all I do really. So great that you were able to keep a positive mindset through and through. Keep it up man!

I mentally broke down 5 times, hate crutches and depending on others. 4 weeks post op, lots of twitches in foot, lots of tightness....praying God gets me through...unable to go back to work until Sep 2022....this is mentally and physically difficult for me
@aperezvoyages

As I tell most people that comment on these videos, the mental frustration is actually far worse than the physical trauma. Try to be patience and realize you’ll need that patience to become free and mobile again. Trust me! You got this 🤙🏽

Thanks so much for your fine videos. I’m 4 days out post surgery and feel like recovery is a lifetime away. I ruptured my other Achilles 30 years ago, so you’d figure I’d know the drill, but this early process is a bit demoralizing. Hopefully better days ahead. Safe travels Anthony.

A ruptured Achilles is a ruptured Achilles my friend! It still sucks no matter what. Is this injury worse?
@stevemeadowlands1246
@stevemeadowlands1246 4 года назад
Being 30 years older is a detriment. I’m not as strong I’m sure. This being the right leg will have me more dependent on others for longer, with no ability for driving. Hopefully things will improve after my first recheck, physically and mentally.

Thanks for sharing your story. How are you now 3+ years post surgery? I also tore my achilles and went the op route. I'm 5 days post op and so far feeling the exact way you describe your experience. Have you been able to go back to "normal" from this injury? Physiologically, is it still something that’s on the back of your mind? Are there still asymmetries in Achilles/leg size?
@aperezvoyages
@aperezvoyages 2 года назад
5 years later and I’m perfectly fine. I will say that I still feel the lack of symmetry in my body from having no use in one leg for two long. My right leg is still smaller than my left. And one side of my back is stronger than the other, etc. it’s an unspoken thing but a reality. Not too big of a deal but it’s there

Thanks for your videos. Have a question. What kind of stretches you do for Achilles? And how long did the stiffness last?
@aperezvoyages
@aperezvoyages 4 года назад
+Gilbert Ulloa I didn't actually do tend one strengthening until about 8 weeks after my surgery. Most of my therapy before then involved strengthening my legs due to muscle loss
@gilbertulloa6150
@gilbertulloa6150 4 года назад
Anthony Perez by any chance do you remember how long the stiffness lasted and do you know how long it took you to restore your calf muscle? I’m eight weeks po. Thanks for replying
