Lol I remember a year ago, we got blocked by them on Twitter for criticizing and calling them out for the things they are now being sued for lol. Oh this is just delicious!
@UCzu6zN-HIR1ZuviQsxvhZ9w Haha it surely is an achievement. We've also been blocked by Jason Schreir from Kotaku. I got blocked for calling AtGames out on Twitter and my partner also called them out. Us both calling them out on seperate posts caused us to get blocked by them, because we flat out said the consoles they were advertising at the time were nothing but a scam. That must have certainly hit a nerve.
@@arcadeguy781 Ehhh depends on what company. Many others also can't handle criticism. Most companies nowadays just consider all criticism as hate speech.
@@RandomizationShow Same here but at least Sega finally saw sense what I don't understand is why other game developers still go to them after all the rubbish they've put out.
I’d like to see Atari team up with a company that can deliver a decent looking ‘mini Atari 2600’. The AtGames one just looks like a cheap toy with it’s big yellow/orange buttons.
@@rocketrunner8063 They use AntStream and Atari states that you can play Sega CD, Genesis, NES games. Yet another Soulja Game streaming service. If you pay to stream roms....well...
Yeah, since the NES versions of Pac-Man and Pac-Mania put out (before the former had a second re-release by Namco Hometek Ltd) were done by Tengen, that would count as unauthorized third party.
Those were actually only published by Tengen. The games were programmed by Namco in Japan and released on the famicom as such. Atari and Namco still had a good relationship at that time from the arcade days and allowed them to release them in the US under the Tengen label.
That sucks! They make "Souljaboy level" console! :-) LOL They are always fully stocked at Walmart. Literally 50 units last year and they still have 50 units until today! :-) LMAO
I'm sure John Hancock is a cool dude but his reviews kind of bore me. I eventually unsubscribed from his channel just because he really doesn't say negative things about anything he reviews.
A retro gaming company lies to gamers? Inconceivable! Good thing we’ve got Atari and the Polymega coming out soon to restore our faith. Yep, good thing!
I have added a link to the 154 page court filing on my website. If interested take a look! I paid for access to the court docs so you dont have to! www.madlittlepixel.com/
There are people that actually say that say that the ATGames Sega Genesis Flashback 2018 is BETTER than the Genesis Mini. Umm I don't think so. I wonder if ATGames got permission to use the games on their Sega Genesis console.
Animefanatic781 The ATGames Sega Genesis Flashback 2018 is not as good as the Sega Genesis Mini, but it is better than the other consoles that ATGames previously made.
The only thing better on the 2018 than the previous atgames releases is you can update and add games via SD card but the rest still the same. Bad build quality , random freezes , poor emulation...
Miguel Alves l thought so. People are like oh the game selection is better, you can add games, you can play cartridges etc. yeah that only works if well the games don’t freeze or become glitchy. M2s Genesis Mini is 100% then anything AssGames makes
I mean, I'm not surprised, they unlocked the Sega Flashback 2018 themselves, no one had to hack it, although there is a CFW for it now. Although going to be honest, that 2018 Flashback, with the CFW, is pretty dope honestly, fixes the emulator, fixes the sound problems, I'm glad I have the Sega Mini but the Flashback ain't half bad now if you find a cheap ass one once you get the new firmware on there. Anything they make with an SD card slot they unlock themselves, plus they are using Retroarch cores anyway.
All that being said, the stock product was pretty bogus, not defending them, I want to make that clear! Lol but this makes me wonder, we haven't seen a Namco Museum in a while.. does this mean Namco might be jumping on the mini console bandwagon and be going to release their own console? That kind of seems like that might be happening, maybe..I mean, that would be cool.
I got hold of one of the 2018 ones, £29.99 on clearance in the UK, and yes it's not half bad at all, and dead easy to update the firmware. Shame they didn't do that with the original Flashback really.
I'd say only because they were caught red handed using versions of our emulator that they couldn't license and had therefore no choice but to use something else for future releases. To me that suggests the same corner cutting (the older versions have lower system requirements but are not licensable for commercial products) I don't think they regret their actions, only that they got caught, it was a calculated move (that clearly worked - they sold a boatload) so I don't see why I shouldn't group them with the rest.
Wow. So much shady stuff. I gotta agree with you when you mention selling crap products is one thing but to manipulate the market in the ways they have been and it’s just straight up wrong. When ppl ask me my opinion on their products I’ve let them know their stuff functions but not great but I have to make sure they know how shady the company is. I have yet to see them do anything to even try to help their reputation either. I’m guessing a lot of the reason is these court proceedings. Very interesting video. Thanks for digging this up and sharing. This is something people should know about.
makes ya wonder if the Legends cabinet will even come out if this lawsuit basically bankrupts AtGames. I guess most wont care, but an interesting side note nonetheless. And if it ever did see fruition, it would surely affect what/how many games ship with units. Just more fodder for thought.
WOW! ATgames tried to destroy John Hancock's channel and reputation by sending him a bait n' switch "beta" unit. I wonder if he has some recourse to join in on the lawsuit or start his own...
Sometimes I defend the Atgames Atari flashback 9 because it seems like the only console they got right. I haven't seen anything wrong with it. People have complained about the Atgames Genesis and other products. They are also making an arcade cabinet with 350 games, and some people are wondering about the quality.
To be fair, @Games is fucked either way. Sega cut ties with them, Bandai-Namco cut ties with them, no one with any relevance in the indystry will ever do business with them. All they have left is the Atari deal, and "Atari" (Infogrames) is as likely to go tits up as release the VCS (Atari Box). Intellivision? Nope, Amico's on the way. Coleco? Naw, Coleco Holdings learned that lesson after the RetroVGS dumpster fire. Wouldn't surprise me if they were extinct in three to five years.
Just watched the John Hancock review and he does say "Do Not Buy" in the video title. Click on the description and it further explains the reason why he suggested NOT to buy this AtGames product. Obviously realizing he'd been duped by AtGames into reviewing a far different product than the one they intended to distribute to consumers.
My husband bought us a Blast Konami console for Christmas and had no idea what he was buying. It's fun for a nostalgia trip every month. I don't care about screen tearing, since the graphics were crap back then anyways. I just want my husband to play games
I'm hardly surprised! I know Patton Plays hates those guys too and he's a super chill youtuber. He was fair about the revised version of the system however.
I won't lie, as a Pac-Man enthusiast I kept pausing when you were scrolling through the registration information on the different Ms. Pac-Man products and the logo designs and character artwork LMAO. I kind of want to browse this document myself just for that stuff because some of it I haven't seen before!
Yeah that stuff is pretty cool. I may upload the document to my website soon. Just didn't want to give it out rite now, as RU-vid can be competitively fierce and I had to pay for the access to the document, so figured anyone else who is going to report on it should pay for it as well instead of taking from my link LOL. Hey just being honest.
Guys, check your local Walmart - they’re clearancing out the plug-and-play joysticks by @Games. You can buy them for $5 each. I bought a couple last week at this price. I figured Walmart was trying to get rid of them. I think it’s safe to assume that there was more behind Walmart’s clearance than I realized. They had a ton of Pac-Man joysticks in stock too. Lol I’m going back to buy a couple. Lol
AtGames sell their junk under several different names, such as Data Frog and Cool Baby. All of those 600 in 1 crappy clone consoles from China is AtGames.
Not that I'm going to buy one but, I wonder how this effects the upcoming holiday sales of it's new $599 Arcade cab? If Pac Man i s on there, can they still sell. Smells like problems.
What about those awful plug and play joysticks sold last year made by msi (majesco)? They made a Ms Pacman one that had a nes rom on it! Was those rightfully licensed?
asgames in trouble is a win for all people, not just gamers. Meanwhile I'm sueing all companies, people that ever worked with asgames for having relations with a criminal organisation. Respect to MLP an JH! Consumers should get all of their money back of all products ever sold. I hope they go bankrupt, but that will not happen unfortunately Nothing asgames ever sold was good or even reasonable Screw ' em indeed. They're just pure evil. And what infuriates me is that they could have made 4 times or perhaps even 10 times more profit if they made something decent. Same with China, they can be so rich, yet settle fro crumbs. "I'm never buying asgames products ever", I've said that several times "Now, I'm really never buying asgames products ever" etc..
Whenever a company that's not the official company re releases a console it's most likely some one trying to be a pirate and counterfeit money from you so just be careful buying retro clone systems from 3rd party developers
So where does GCC even come into any of this? I was under the impression that BNEA owned all rights to the game at this point, so why would AtGames even be in contact with the "successors" of GCC? And why does it seem like BNEA is so damn stingy with doling out licensing rights to it? They obviously grant PAC-MAN licenses to anyone who asks, so there must be some weird copyright or other legal loophole that they have to jump through that prevents the Ms. PAC-MAN license from being easy to obtain. The Crazy Otto/Midway/Namco history is really so fascinating, but at this point in time, BNEA must have a clear path to ownership of this particular game, so why is it rarely included on official retro releases? If their rights to it were 100% clear, why are they SO specific about the idea that AtGames can have PAC-MAN but NOT Ms. PAC-MAN? You would think that they'd jump at any opportunity to profit from a library title (as they do with the original), so there must be something else to this story.
The entire history including GCC and how Ms. Pac-Man is all really interesting stuff. For sure there is more to the story. I need to scrub through the court filing more to see if there is something I missed. I uploaded the 154 page court filing on my website if youd like to look through it. Its available on www.madlittlepixel.com on the article referencing this story.
@Lassi Kinnunen All it really is, is a royalty stake in non exempt products from the 2008 GCC agreement with Bandai-Namco. All it seems AtGames did was create a situation where Namco will never work with them again.... dumb asses lol.
Classic bait and switch scheme. Namco absolutely had to call them out with a lawsuit to protect themselves. Namco is only the first plaintiff to this matter. Class action should follow.
What I don't get is If you have the approval to use the Arcade Rom in a product - Why the hell would you release that product using the NES roms instead ?? ( guess the didn't have an emulator written by some other company that could run the arcade rom and didn't want to spend the money getting it working instead of just using the nes emulator they already were using. )
@@Madlittlepixel Well, I have an AtGames Genesis console that I was naive enough to buy on a Black Friday sale about 4 years ago. As soon as this burn ban gets lifted in my county, I'm going to set that piece of trash on fire, so that there will be one less AtGames product in existence.
@@dionr1168 i have the 2017 version and it has faulty roms/unplayable games such as shining force 2 and phantasy star 4 and some weird stupid games, also it has some random freezes and lacks built quality. I was mind blown how come a company release a product like that. Hope they go bankrupt asap
