I would like to say that this is actually a bad argument for atheist. It's similar to a argument i hear christians use that goes along the lines of " atheist just want to do what they want and knowing there might be consequences for their actions makes them uncomfortable so they trick thier selves". I do think its possible for someone to believe something on just emotion, but to categorize all people and say they all believe this for one reason is false. It can weaken the argument and be offputting to people. Some people might just simply believe their hypothesis on the world is more likely do to their current knowledge and experience.

And even so, finding comfort in a deity isn’t something that should be criticized. This question is a logical fallacy because of 2 reasons: -Causality is a law governing the universe. If God existed and created the universe, do you think that he would be subject to the same rules and laws he created for the universe? It's like saying that the programmer is subject to the same constraints of the program he developed. Or that the puppeteer is also moved by wire like his puppet. -If the originator had an originator, and the originator's originator had an originator, etc... the universe would have never existed. Yet, the universe exist. It has a beginning and is governed by complex and precise law. Hence, it must have a creator that is not created because if he was created the universe would have never existed.

Normally the universe is considered to be *everything* that exists - so it would have to include any god that exists. Your idea of the limited universe exists since it's been described in some way, and so does the concept of everything that exists too (which I would call the universe). It becomes completely contradictory. The universe would need god to make it, but god is part of the universe. Effectively we need the universe to exist to....make the universe.

One thing that stands out to me is the claim the universe is complex so it must have a creator. I've heard this a number of times. Well, I don't know of any evidence yet that complex things have to be designed? This appears to be speculation. However, there's a much bigger problem. It's not consistent to say complex things like the universe must have a creator, then suggest a creator - something complex - simply exists. It's not a good sign when the answer defies the premise of the question. To stay consistent we either have to accept complex things can simply exist without being deliberately made by consciousness - including potentially the universe. Or that all complex things must be created - although that comes with the consequence of assuming an infinite series of creators.

Well... It is true. When I was a kid, presents would show up under our tree overnight, wrapped in totally different wrapping paper than we had at the house for gifts between family members. Well the use of God has since changed. It was supposed to enhance the quality of life with rules but then the use of God changed quickly to political stances and ways of power. I'm sure somewhere down the line, the idea of God has changed and has been altered per person's own stance on life. Like how islamic women choose not to wear the burka or how Christians don't actually always love Jesus with all their heart. These people are falsely claiming themselves of a faith while tarnishing the reputation of said faith. I have God in my life. I won't state that there are things I can understand which I don't. I can't see the whole spectrum of light, therefore I will never see the universe in all its truths or glory. My senses are limited to my biology so I will never fully understand my environment. However, it is not beyond my imagination that there could be a being that could sense all stimuli, could comprehend all wavelengths of light and had an above 90% efficiency of sustaining itself. To be honest, I think I'd also call this being a divine entity. If this being were to exist, I'm also certain it would have an immense amount of intelligence. Who knows? Maybe this being can understand physics beyond the Planck length and can break all known physics to us. Its not that long ago we used lamps instead of light bulbs to light our homes. I'm certain people doubted the existence of electricity until it was proven. However, the fact stayed that electricity existed regardless of stipulation. Though if you take history into account, polytheistic religions used to be much more widespread in ancient times and the many gods that were worshiped back then were more of an attempt to explain how the world worked (as they were more often than not personifications of forces of nature) rather than a way to """enhance the quality of life with rules""". The Romans already had what we would call "modern" laws centuries before they were converted to Christianism and their laws did not have any "divine" character to them. If anything, the worship of the Judeo-Christian god became mainstream through the use of politics and power, not the other way around. The right circumstances came together and certain essential proteins were able to form from various minerals and chemicals (quite possibly from various volcanic vents on the ocean floor), leading to RNA, a stepping stone to DNA. Then the first simple self-replicating single cell organisms were able to form and evolve in the oceans. I've simplified it a lot here, but that's basically how it all started.

People from thousands years ago don't understand electromagnetism but it doesn't mean those things didn't exist back then. People from even long ago worships the Sun and prays for the Sun God will provide them good harvest; claimed that volcanic eruptions happened because they angered the land spirit, to us it seemed ridiculous because with the knowledge we have, we know those are natural phenomena. But to them, they wouldn't understand it because their grasp of science wasn't at our level yet. They have limited scientific knowledge to know what was actually going on. Same goes to us. Our scientific knowledge is still limited to understand the origin of life and the universe, but it doesn't stop here. Knowledge is always expanding. Our technology progressed because of science. We accept that we are incapable of understanding how life comes to be, for now, but we will never stop exploring and making hypothesis. We are not scared of rejection of new ideas, instead we happily accept them. Science is an ongoing event but religion isn't. Religion will just ask u to blindly follow the ancient teachings without ever questioning it. However in science we welcome criticism and skeptics. We may not have supporting evidence for every questions but in the next decades or hundreds of years, science can answer them, just like how it did to the natural phenomenon which couldn't be explained thousands of years ago :)

We don't understand how we work but if they had the ability to function as we do then yet that would be the same thing and its completely possible to create an android with consciousness with the correct knowledge and computing power/tech. Testing for consciousness may be harder than making it in the end. I know i am conscious because i can see it and feel it.
