Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers, featuring Edie Brickell, will release their first ever live concert CD/DVD package capturing their extraordinary performance at the historic Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside California last fall. The live performance was recorded for PBS Great Performances and features material from Martin and Brickells Grammy-nominated album Love Has Come For You, as well as music from Martins Grammy nominated collaboration with The Steep Canyon Rangers, Rare Bird Alert, and his Grammy Award winning album The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo. This special live CD/DVD features Martins unique blend of comedy and bluegrass and is a first class evening of excellent entertainment.

@@trueaussie9230 Unfortunately, yes. I'm a born again Christian, myself, and I thought the song was hilarious. Well written, well thought out and very clever. I remember (and miss) the days when pretty much anyone was fair game and only the overly sensitive "got offended." Now, sadly, it's very much different and "offense" has become a national pastime on all sides of the spectrum.

In 2023, Steve Martin was 77. This means that he was 66 when he performed this song. His first child was born in 2012 when he was 66. After I watched this last night, I felt grateful that he has taken such good care of himself that he could do this. Thankful that he loves performing so much!

Love Steve Martin. Total side note: The Steep Canyon Rangers are awesome humans. I taught in a tiny rural Alaskan village during lockdown and they linked up with us to help teach music to my kids. I have so much respect for them. Plus, they are all awesome musicians.

@@craigs3056 By that criterion JS Bach's ( remember him - the german chap who wrote settings of the Matthew and John Passions, Cantatas for every sunday of the year several times over, the Mass in B minor, The Magnificat in D major and lots of motets and organ music, to name just some of his religious output) Coffee Cantata is an atheist work. Really?! Might it just be possible that not everything lines up for or against God, but that some pieces of music - even including songs that aren't religious - are neutral, or deal with other aspects of life? Pardon me for suggesting this, but might you be being just a touch closed minded? Oh, and perhaps a bit more dogmatic than is strictly necessary?

My mom, by 7 AM in Detroit, would be totally ready for work, therefore it would be safe to wake me up by putting the radio onto a gospel music station that only played this style! The only other place I ever heard that style was in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" and this one!🤣
