I recently found this footage on an old hard drive and this video was filmed back in 2014, long before I started uploading “Abandoned Isle of Wight” videos.
Filmed on my old beloved Panasonic gh2 the video was only shot at 720p with the budget kit lens (14-42mm), despite this I’m surprised how much room I had to play with when colour grading and how nice the final image still looks (upscaled in premiere to 1080p), it goes to show fancy high-end cameras really aren’t everything!

The camera was running a custom firmware, so I think that the footage was being outputted at around 100mbits.
Edited and graded in Adobe Premiere Pro 2017
The music was also created by me in FL studio.

I worked at the camp for two seasons in the late 80's when I was about 17 or 18 best times of my life. Shed a tear when I watched this video. Boy could I tell you some stories about this place.Gone but most definitely not forgotten

There's a word I like that describes this site perfectly: Kenopsia, which describes the feeling you get at a place that was once full of people, bustling with life, and busy, but now empty and quiet. Holiday camps are some of the most forlorn and saddest places when deserted like this. All the people that pass through, looking for a few days away from routine, just wanting a break, and a bit of fun, leave a kind of echo on these places, as powerful as if something terrible had happened there. A beautiful film, as always, and the stuttery piano soundtrack fits the images like a glove. Thanks for sharing! Nice one.

I used to love wandering around this site and you could really get the feel of how it used to be, ironically before it was pulled down there were always people hanging around it I remember the inside being converted into a skate park, shame that it is now completely leveled... Thanks again 😁😁

I went back there in 2015 just to have a look around and it brought back so many memories. It was spooky to wander through what was the old dinning room and into the ball room. I could almost remember being moved from one to the other after dinner every evening. Plus, when I went there in the 60's there were no bathrooms in the chalets, you had to go down the path to the showers and toilets. And the swimming pool seemed so far away from the chalets, but I was very little. HaHa. And the really long and rickety steps down to the beach. Love it! Thanks for making this video.

I Remember actually swimming in the pool as a child, we lived in Brighstone and a friend just up the road, his dad took myself my friend and his sister to the place and the pool was freezing!

We used to have family holidays every year at Brighstone & Atherfield Holiday Camps in the 70s, 80s & 90s. Very fond memories of holidaying at these once vibrant Holiday Camps. For us coming down from London for 2 weeks ( once or twice a year ) they were like paradise.

It makes me very upset to see all these places lieing there to rott I wish our government can do more with the people who are willing to invest to make these places great again Isle of Wight people deserve better

Wow I'm sure this is where we stayed on our middle school trip in the 90's... it was run down then, the showers were freezing, the pool was derelict and our room key opened every other chalet so did everyone else's(as in, it either opened chalet 1, 3, 5, 9, etc. or 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 etc. ) I remember everyone finding this out and breaking into each other's chalets for the whole trip(thankfully we were the ONLY guests in the park). A boy walked in on me in the shower using his key. The teachers knew and didn't care, they just wanted to get drunk. We could not believe somewhere could be so run down and still open for holidays for children. There was a "play area" which only contained a concrete tube full of broken glass as far as I remember. The talent show at the holiday camp's main building was remembered fondly by all of us though (: Thanks for posting this.

This place is actually demolished I went there with my family to record on our latest trip to the island, when we drove there turns out we’ve passed it hundreds of times! Such a shame to see it go before I got to explore. We should meet up next time I come to the island and go exploring.

I recall seeing these buildings when walking the coastal path from near Whale Chine on my early visits to the island in 2005/6. I guess it might have been open then?

Have you tried the old garden centre down wacklands Lane in Newchurch? Not that big but it definitely abandoned

That's ok, i think it's quite small but the lane does get busy as lots of animal owners down there

There's also an old farm down dungewood lane, on the road between shorwell and military road hard to explain exact location but if you follow the bridal way down dungewood lane it's along there. However i dont think there is an actual road leading to the property just fields around it. Again seems kinda small but ive very beautiful from the outside even though some bits are half fallen down.

I went here in 2009, it was trashed back then. The gate had been forced open so i was able to drive up to where the swimming pool was and park there out of view haha. Such a shame, it's just a field now on google maps. I will try and upload the vids if anyone is interested. Bare in mind that they are vcr quality.
