Sky cricket- Mike Atherton 1.0 wasn't the best batsman of his time but Mike Atherton 2.0 is the best cricket broadcaster in the whole world. Can listen him for hours. Well done Sky for loading such beautiful content 💖💖
@@mansnotbot4160 Actually, in the late 80s and very early 90s, England were a fine ODI team. They were finalists in both 87 and 92 WCs and then absolutely mauled Pakistan (the then WC winners) in the 1992 ODI series right after. For that time period, Smith, Fairbrother and Lamb had excellent ODI records. All 3 averaged 39 and had decent strike rates. No team had 3 players who averaged that high in that time, apart from the West Indies (2 of who retired in 1991).
Bob Willis insulted this guy when doing a MOTM presentation at a Lord's one day final. It's on RU-vid. I didn't think there was any need to do that and Mike Watkinson agreed.
Neil Fairbrother was a very good cricketer and is a gentleman....We Indians love him....He brings joy where ever he goes.. Delightful personality... Enjoyable interaction.
Perhaps Athurton is the only test batsman to have scored 7000 plus runs with an average of less than 40. Thats an indicator that englands top order test cricket batsmen were not so great in the nineties , particularly between 1994 and 2000
Silly comment. Atherton was a top batsman; not sure there were many who could have batted with the pain he was in later in his career with back problems.
It is s also an indicator of the quality of opening bowlers he regularly had to face which includes; Marshall, Patterson,Ambrose, Walsh, Pollock, Donald, Wasim & Waqar, Akhtar, McGrath. Good luck with your average against them!
They are trying to build a tempo for the visiting summer teams but you can only think that they are looking for views as if video becoming viral will bring them more ad revenue from RU-vid. Sky sports does not depend on these small mercies. They (sky) virtually run most of the sports in west. Like them there is no one in India. Young Indians would not care one jote if the old players are reflecting of their only india tour in 90’s. India was not much of a challenge then either on sports field or financially. They certainly possess a lofty status now and that is why you are thinking of the views from India.
Doh what bull crap, these folks talk of India as if its on some other planet, teams toured India in 60, 70 and god only know how worse it would have been for them. I have never seen an aussie crib so much on conditions as much english do. They ruled India for 250 years and they are saying conditions are new to them lol
These English sky commentators need to accept they were 3rd rate players by most countries standards at the time 🤣 They really like to think they were better than they were.
