We're back in the year 2009. AMD's or back then - ATI's brand new HD 5770 graphics card launched. It was one of the first DirectX 11 capable GPUs on the market.
How does it perform nowadays?
Today I'll be putting my very first GPU I bought with my own money to the test and will not only try getting it to run in Windows 11, but also with modern games.
I mean, what could go wrong?

My beloved HD 5770 still going strong... wow... 🤩🥳
@Mini-z1994

This was also my first gpu i bought new, though bit later in October 2010 about 3 months after i built my first gaming pc at the time. athlon II x3 445 3.1 ghz, 2x2 gb ddr3 ram & initially HD 3650 512 mb ddr2. A sapphire hd 5770 lite 1 gb. I still had a crt monitor until around summer 2012 lol. But was a night & day change still going from a hd 3650 ddr2 512 mb which struggled with left 4 dead 2 too the hd 5770. Still works fine & still overclocks poorly lol. Think it topped out at 900 mhz core & between 1280 - 1350 mhz memory before it just crashes entirely while stock is 850 mhz core & 1200 mhz memory so mediocre overclocks really. Was my temporary spare card when my r9 280 died summer 2020, could have used my previous hd 6870 but eh 5770 was quieter then that card & performance wasn't hugely different between the two, at least not on that athlon cpu. (Was already putting aside money too rebuild my pc so picked up my still current 1660 super oc from gigabyte for 221 usd & then money went too other things until i started later in Summer 2022 too buy parts slowly, like used am4 motherboard, DDR4 ramkit & finally the ryzen 5600 & had it built December 1st 2022.) The hd 5770 still did cs go, borderlands 2 rather then 3, killingfloor 2 (surprisingly yes it runs.) Team fortress 2, killingfloor 1, trackmania nations forever & trackmania 2 alright with my I5 2500k system. Couldn't get it too post on my new rig with a Ryzen 5600 after i had done the bios flash too get that cpu supported, but might just need too use a lower pci-e slot or set up pci-e slot too run in 2.0 mode before changing out the gpu there.

Good times and that GPU was the 3rd best GPU from AMD, for the price of 150$! It played everything in 2009-2013 no problem with great performance. I myself around that time had a HD4770, another banger for just 109$ and it ran games great until I upgraded to a HD6790 a couple of years later, another card that was great until 2013.

The HD 5770 in Crossfire was an absolute beast. I remember it being one of the only cards that actually doubled your performance, and running two of them even rivalled one 5870 for $100 less.

Can you recall what games you played in crossfire ? I still run the 5770 and was considering getting a 5870 or doing a 5770 crossfire set up but unsure of what games would really support it

@@thebutcher1412I have the same video card, but! I've run absolutely every game on this list. Apart from RDR and cyberpunk, everything was ok if you set it to 720p, and it also recorded and recording takes 10-15% of performance

Then in FPS it’s exactly 30 frames taken by the video recording, which means the real FPS may be higher. Radion is good but why does everyone say bullshit?

This brings so many memories back again, I remember my first gpu, it was end of 2009, the eah4890 a beast card for it's time, there wasn't a game be played smooth, but the heat output and 150w only to boot with E8400 was kinda high 😅. I was pretty dumb back then and had a desktop late 2009 that can finally play games. I bought a 9600 GT jan 2010 to play games but barely had that GPU for 5 months, felt like an eternity. I got a HD 5770 September that year and felt so relieved that I had such a good card. Like I said I was dumb back then, not only getting a previous year GPU but I kept upgrading every year. It was only mid 2011 that I bought an HD 6870 so my poor 5770 only had a year of use. I still have it in box too. It played everything just fine at 1600x900.

@@Nicolas11x12English Can you share your RTSS settings? Your overlay looks so much cleaner than the standard Afterburner fonts and colours.
@Nicolas11x12English
@Nicolas11x12English Год назад
@@FatCatFanatic Thank you! I just fired up MSI Afterburner and these are the settings I went for: In the MSI Afterburner settings, go to the Monitoring tab. Uncheck all, but make sure the following are checked: Framerate, Framerate Avg and Framerate 1% Low. Then click on Framerate, make sure "Show in On-Screen Display" is checked. Further down below unter "Graph limits", make sure "Override group name" is checked and enter your custom text such as "FPS". Then repeat the steps with Framerate Avg and Framerate 1% Low and name them "AVG FPS" and "1% LOW", respectively or something similar. Now go back to "Framerate" again and right next to "Show in On-Screen Display" you'll see a button with three dots in there "..." Click on it and scroll down to "Group color". Then find "Framerate", "Framerate Avg" and "Framerate 1% Low" on the list. Double-click the FF......numbers next to it and change to your preferred color on the list. Once you're done, hit Apply and OK. Once that layout display window is closed, hit Apply and OK in the Afterburner settings, too. Next we want to change the font, size and background of the on-screen display. Go down to your system tray and double-click on the RTSS icon. Make sure the On-Screen Display rendering mode is set to "Raster 3D". Click on the Raster 3D and select your preferred font. I chose "Arial", set the font style to "Black" and leave the size at the default "5". Then click on OK. Then I also have enabled "On-Screen Display shadow" and "On-Screen Display fill". You could also click on the color dot next to "On-Screen Display palette" and choose a custom color, but that never does anything for me, because MSI Afterburner overrides those settings with its own fixed or set colors. Finally, you can change the size of the text, which will also depend on the screen resolution. So you'll have to play around a little bit with your "On-Screen Display zoom". And that's pretty much it. I hope my steps could help you out. I tried hard with this one. :)

That’ll be the day I’ll be able to afford one possibly, 2. Currently in the market for a PS4, this usually comes with a handful of games too at half the cost of retail. Its smart to wait out all the commercial uproar and its still just as fun. That’s why the market for cheap handhelds with old school gaming is booming. People pay extra to feel relevant when in reality its a complete waste of money unless your making money reviewing these inflated products. But hey, thanks for funding future technology.
